Chapter 81: Spare Weapon

Chapter 81: Spare Weapon

Original: Chapter 81: Spare Weapon

I arrived at Miss Rilril’s street stall.

It seemed there were no customers at the moment. Or rather, Miss Rilril had likely just arrived at the plaza. She was in the middle of happily arranging her merchandise.

“Hello, Miss Rilril.”

“Ah, Miss Sayuki. Hello—”

She greeted me with a smile. But then, Miss Rilril tilted her head slightly, looking a bit worried.

“Miss Sayuki, are you feeling unwell somewhere?”

“No, I’m fine.”

“But you don’t look very energetic at all…”

Perhaps because I see Miss Rilril almost every day. It seemed she had sensed from my expression that my current mental state wasn’t good.

“I’m… alone today, you see…”

Miss Rilril tilted her head again. It seemed my explanation was insufficient.

“I was thinking… yesterday when I came to the Dungeon, I wasn’t alone…”

“Ah! You were with Miss Senior yesterday, weren’t you? Is Miss Senior today…”

“She’s not with me today…”

“That’s a bit sad…”

We both ended up making similar, dejected faces.

Somehow, I felt bad for Miss Rilril. I hadn’t intended to come here with gloomy talk.

“W-well, but it’s okay. I’m going to go adventure in the Dungeon now and come back refreshed.”

I tried to force a bright expression. I’m not good at that sort of thing, so I don’t know if I managed it properly, but Miss Rilril seemed reassured.

“That’s more like you, Miss Sayuki. I’m sure a day will come again soon when you can adventure with Miss Senior. Let’s keep our spirits up.”

“Yes! For now, can I sell some Potions?”

“Of course. Thank you as always.”

I tapped and operated the screen to conduct the Potion sale. Once the transaction was complete, the Potions I had made whooshed through spatial movement into the empty bottles Miss Rilril possessed.

I immediately began using the now-clean empty bottles to start 〈Potion Create〉. This way, more Potions would be ready in another 20 minutes.

“Miss Sayuki, are you going on a Quest today?”

“No, today I’m thinking of trying to look for Medicinal Herbs and Mana Gemstones in the Red Zone. I thought it might be pretty efficient… Oh, that’s right. Before that, there was something I wanted to consult with you about, Miss Rilril.”

“Is it about business?”

“No. I was wondering how many weapons Adventurers usually carry.”

“I see~. So it’s about the number of weapons. Are you still only using the Hammer, Miss Sayuki?”

“Yes, the Hammer you gave me is my favorite.”

“Thank you. That Hammer’s performance is more than sufficient, you know. Of course, depending on the Adventurer, some carry various types of weapons. It really varies from person to person.”

Several weapons were lined up at Miss Rilril’s stall. There were bladed weapons, bludgeons, and what seemed to be explosives too.

“I’m satisfied with that Hammer, but… I wonder if it’s okay for me to just have one weapon like this. I got a bit worried during the Quest the other day. For example, if the Hammer got knocked far away, or if both my arms were restrained… I thought I’d be completely helpless then.”

Miss Rilril nodded deeply, saying “I see, I see.”

“I understand what you’re saying, Miss Sayuki. That concern is perfectly valid. A muscular man might be able to fight his way out bare-handed, but…”

“I don’t have any muscles.”

“You’re a girl in the bloom of youth, after all.”

“I wonder what other girls do…”

While talking, I observed the women in the plaza. At a glance, they seemed to only carry one weapon, but they might have more in their Item Space. It’s a bit hard to tell.

“I think most people carry several weapons. For instance, even if they buy a new weapon, they might keep the old one as is.”

Ah, I see. If you buy a new weapon, the one you originally used would remain on hand as a spare.

“There are also people who have purchased several types of weapons because they couldn’t find one that suited them.”

Of course, there are people like that too. I’ve fought single-mindedly with just the Hammer without any questions, but there must be people who have tried out many weapons.

“And occasionally, there are people who buy a spare weapon just in case.”

“So there really are people like that. Just in case, I think I’d like to have one more weapon too.”

“That might give you more peace of mind… For example, in your case, Miss Sayuki, having one bladed weapon might be reassuring. Among Monsters, there are some that are strong against blunt attacks but weak against blades, you see.”

Huh, there are Monsters like that. I think I’ll honestly take Miss Rilril’s suggestion.

“Miss Rilril, could you show me some bladed weapons?”

“I’d like to say yes, but…”

Miss Rilril gave a slightly wry smile.

“The timing is a bit too… perfect, shall I say? As a merchant, I’m not sure if I should say this, but there’s something I can recommend that’s much better than buying a weapon from my shop.”

“Huh? Another shop, you mean?”

“No, that’s not it. A special Event Quest just happens to be running today. The reward is a rather special knife.”

“A knife? As a Quest reward?”

“Yes. During special events, weapons or armor sometimes become rewards. I think considering that would be the best option.”

“What perfect timing that turned out to be.”

“It is… However, I’m worried because the difficulty is quite high… I can’t really send you off alone, Miss Sayuki, so to speak…”

Miss Rilril looked around the plaza.

“I wonder if Miss Senior is somewhere around here…”

We ended up back on the topic of Miss Himeka not being here. I haven’t seen her at all today. I don’t even know if Miss Himeka came to school.

“I’ll go check out that Event Quest for now.”

“Okay. But please, absolutely do not go alone. Recklessness and courage are two different things.”

“I understand. I’m a scaredy-cat by nature. If I think it’s dangerous, I absolutely won’t do it.”

To begin with, with today’s depressed mood, I don’t have the slightest desire to fight strong Monsters.

I turned my steps toward the area where many Quest Tablets were lined up.

Now then, I wonder what kind of Event Quest has appeared.
