Chapter 42: The Final Journey
Chapter 42: The Final Journey
Kamiyu fired a casual shot with her Signature Sniper but failed to kill Xu Liwen.
Assuming the other party must have some powerful Defensive Equipment that made her unkillable, she turned and quickly fled into the building.
All intersections in the district were now blocked off. Staying exposed on the streets would only get her blasted to pieces by armed helicopters and Infantry Fighting Vehicles.
Players without Defensive Equipment were merely Flesh and Blood.
On Xu Liwen’s side, she broke out in a cold sweat.
She had just brushed shoulders with death. Her Common Tier Defensive Equipment was almost shattered by Kamiyu’s single shot.
That one shot from Kamiyu consumed 99 Durability of this Leather Armor. If she hadn’t previously spent a fortune to maintain and repair it, she would probably be dead by now.
Xu Liwen understood that Defensive Equipment was the most scarce gear in the current stage of the Black Sphere Game. One piece of Defensive Equipment could be worth ten other pieces of equipment of the same Level, or even be exchanged for three pieces of Legendary Equipment.
Moreover, materials for maintaining and repairing Durability were also extremely scarce. Only the wealthy, overbearing Official Players, who monopolized two Instance Dungeons, could guarantee the production of repair materials.
But these were also classified as strategic reserve resources.
Even as an Official Player, Xu Liwen only had this one Common Tier Armor. And now, it was nearly destroyed by Kamiyu’s single shot.
To repair this Armor, Xu Liwen would need to expend a large amount of military merit to exchange for materials.
It made her heart ache enough to vomit blood.
On the other side.
Braving the hail of bullets, Jack followed Kamiyu into the building.
Kamiyu was setting up her Sniper Rifle on the second floor. Seeing him rush in, she shouted loudly, “Why are you chasing me? With your kind of Defense Power, you should go out and kill to your heart’s content. Why bully me?”
Only three people remained in the Black Sphere Game now: Kamiyu, Jack, and Zhong Hao.
Whoever wanted to survive had to eliminate the other two.
Jack said solemnly, “I told you, you are my opponent. I want to duel you.”
Kamiyu was utterly speechless. How could this battle maniac be so oblivious to the situation? She was almost killed by vehicles, and he still wanted a duel?
She couldn’t even guarantee her own life.
She was exasperated by this stubborn fool and said matter-of-factly, “If you want a Decisive Battle with me, go kill that scumbag Zhong Hao first. Then we can fight to our heart’s content.”
Jack thought for a moment and nodded.
The current situation forced the two of them to cooperate.
The officials wanted to Protect Zhong Hao at all costs, which already placed them on the opposite side. Additionally, since the officials wanted to recover Bai Zhan’s Spoils of War from Kamiyu, it meant there was no room for negotiation with Kamiyu—it was a fight to the death.
For Jack, it was the same. The officials wanted Kamiyu dead. If he wanted to have his Decisive Battle with Kamiyu, he had to drive away the officials’ interference.
Reason with them?
Kill Zhong Hao first, then talk.
Kamiyu said, “You nodded, so let’s consider it cooperation.”
Jack said, “Don’t go more than 5 meters away from me. I’ll add you to my Small Squad. Once you’re in the squad, I can use Thorns Reflection to Protect you.”
Kamiyu thought for a moment and said, “You won’t trick me, will you?”
She thought to herself that if Jack suddenly attacked her later, she could activate her Cuirass’s Skill to enter Stealth State for 30 seconds and Flee.
At most, she’d lose 10 minutes of Cooldown Time.
He really hit me, I can use my Ultimate Skill to instantly kill him. Rounding it up, this round isn’t a loss.
Jack tilted his head and said disdainfully, “Do I look like someone who would lie? I’m not like you, using lies to kill people.”
Kamiyu chuckled awkwardly and said, “Indeed, you don’t seem like it.”
Kamiyu probed, “What exactly is the effect of your Thorns Reflection skill? I need to plan my tactics.”
Kamiyu had just learned that this skill had a 5-meter range.
Jack lowered his head and stared at the cunning Kamiyu. He didn’t want to tell her because once she knew, she would find some unexpected way to counter his skill.
Just like how she had whimsically used the damage reflect cycle, stacked Invincible Golden Body, and then added a buff that extended skill effect duration to counter Bai Zhan’s Razor Armor with Damage Reflect.
As an enemy, the less information leaked to Kamiyu, the better;
But as a teammate, the more information she had, the better.
Kamiyu then said, “Don’t be like that. We’re at the final life-or-death moment. If you don’t say it now, who will you tell after we enter the grave?”
Jack was successfully “brainwashed” and said, “My Thorns Reflection skill can not only reflect the damage I receive but also reflect the damage my teammates receive.”
“The principle is to first designate a teammate. After designating a teammate, the damage both I and that teammate receive is reflected with a multiplicative effect.
However, the limitation is that the designated teammate must be within 5 meters of me as the center.”
Kamiyu immediately understood: as long as she stood within 5 meters of Jack and was designated as his teammate, she would also enjoy the effect of the Thorns Reflection skill, reflecting the damage she received.
This was simply a powerful tool for Instance Dungeons and team fights.
It was exactly the kind of skill that Squad Captains and Club Guild Leaders dreamed of having.
Kamiyu thought to herself that if this Jack could survive, he would definitely be able to achieve great things in the Black Sphere Game.
In this game, the Black Sphere had indeed invested heavily, giving almost everyone protagonist-level Talents and Skills. Almost anyone who won this match could achieve great things in the subsequent games and become a regional overlord. It all depended on who could survive until the end.
“Alright, I’ve told you my skill effect. What’s your plan?” Jack said.
“Plan? There’s no such thing,” Kamiyu said, spreading her hands.
Jack raised an eyebrow, his first thought being: Are you, this little pink melon, trying to deceive me again?
But the next second, he understood.
The game had reached this stage, with only three people left. What was there to plan?
Just kill.
Jack laughed wildly and said, “I get it. It’s just about killing our way through. I like this idea.”
Kamiyu confidently walked up to him. Seeing Jack’s expression, she knew there was no need for further probing.
At this moment, Jack understood that if he wanted to fight Kamiyu, he had to take out Zhong Hao first. If he didn’t eliminate Zhong Hao, the authorities wouldn’t let it go.
Or perhaps he shouldn’t overthink it. Just kill whoever he wanted, deal with whoever he wanted. Whoever stood in his way, he would kill them.
It was that simple and brutal.
Kamiyu also set aside her scheming heart—what was there left to scheme about now? She had already seen through Jack’s martial-obsessed personality; he would never stoop to such despicable acts as a sneak attack.
Kamiyu drew a greatsword, the Dragon Slayer Blade, from the void.
The massive blade and her petite frame formed a stark contrast.
She tossed the greatsword to Jack.
Jack caught it with one hand, saying in surprise, “Aren’t you afraid I’ll steal your weapon?”
Even Jack believed this Dragon Slayer Blade was Kamiyu’s Spoils of War, yet certain high-ranking figures had confiscated personal items, shamelessly demanding them back.
On what grounds?
Kamiyu smiled and said, “I don’t think I’ll lose. If I could take it once, I can take it a second time.”
Jack chuckled without replying, deeply admiring Kamiyu’s boldness and confidence.

I already like Jack and Kamiyu chemistry, and at this point I would somehow wish that Jack and Kamiyu would somehow survive omggggg
It’s a shame they can’t survive together, this Ka-Ja combination has potential to be a strong team combo
