Chapter 64: Slaughter Echo

Chapter 64: Slaughter Echo

Kamiyu’s main approach was to stay low-key and accumulate wealth quietly, but if anyone stood in her way, she would strike with thunderous force, crushing her enemies in one blow without mercy, ensuring they were eradicated root and stem.

It was precisely because of her decisiveness that she gained the upper hand in the grueling 72-hour Deathmatch Game and ultimately won.

Official Players? Mere lackeys.

You two misfits were assigned to guard the gate, and you actually dared to bully others?

Kamiyu didn’t even bother using the special Skill effects of the Ancestral Death Shroud, directly striking out with her fists and feet.

In short, she simply didn’t like the look of them, so she hit them—just like that.

It was like that popular meme: “So what?”

She hit them, so what?

Sure enough, the two lackeys scrambled away from the gate, crawling and stumbling.

This drew cheers from the Newcomer Players who had just been bullied.

Even the Veteran Players who had looked down on Kamiyu earlier now regarded her with a bit more respect.

Kamiyu basked in the attention of the crowd before leaving with natural ease.

When treated unfairly, one must strike back with force—just like Kamiyu.

Some Newcomer Players, seeing how formidable Kamiyu was, approached her hoping to latch onto her coattails.

“Sis, that kick of yours was really impressive. We’ve wanted to teach those guys a lesson for a long time,” said a Warrior Player holding a short blade as he walked over.

“Thank you for stepping in, sis. If you hadn’t, our earnings would have been cut in half,” added a Mage Player.

Kamiyu raised an eyebrow, surprised that her “impulsive” actions had actually salvaged part of her own income.

These lackey Official Players and Civilian Players were at odds like fire and water. The materials they seized would never be sold to the vendors near the fountain in the Main City center.

Simply put, the toll-collecting behavior of these Official Players was harming her own interests.

No wonder Kamiyu had to strike back forcefully. In fact, she felt she had gone too easy on them with just her fists and feet—she should have shot each of them at least once.

“Sis, could you take us under your wing?”

“That’s right, we can fight monsters together and assist you.”

A few bold Newcomer Players crowded around.

She didn’t really need their help fighting monsters—Kamiyu could take down one with a single shot. What she wanted was someone to gather herbs for her to craft Potions.

In the Crafting Panel, making Potions required herbs, which could be sourced from Aberrant Beasts, Demons, or collected from certain environments.

She was stretched thin, and if someone could help gather materials, she wouldn’t mind sharing the Experience Points from killing monsters.

As they leveled up, they would collect more materials, which would also benefit her own development.

It was all about mutual benefit.

Just as Kamiyu was about to respond,

a nearby Veteran Player “kindly reminded” them, “This little girl has offended the officials. Do you still dare to get close to her?”

“Those Official Players are notorious for moving in groups and holding grudges. I advise you to stay away from this little girl.”

Immediately, the Newcomer Players apologized and distanced themselves from Kamiyu.

“And you, daring to hit an Official Player—I really think you have no idea how to write the word ‘Death,’” jeered a Rogue Player carrying chains on his back.

“What about it? You look like you could use a beating too,” Kamiyu pointed her gun at him.

She noticed the Squad name above his head: “Dragon at Large.”

It was the same Guild as the person who had chased Kamiyu away at the fountain earlier.

When dealing with slightly more formidable players like Squad members, Kamiyu wouldn’t let her guard down.

She was always ready to activate her Skills, always prepared to take them down in one combo.

“You should stop pointing that broken fire poker at me. Official Players always repay grudges—they’re probably off gathering people to kill you. I doubt you’ll last half an hour. My advice is to log off right now.”

“Especially out here in the Wilderness Zone. It’s not like the Main City—if you die here, no one will ever know.”

“Repaying grudges isn’t their exclusive trademark,” Kamiyu said with a sneaky tone.

If no one would know if she died, wasn’t that even better? She was just short on Enhancement Points for pioneering new areas anyway, Kamiyu thought excitedly.

“Don’t block my way.” Kamiyu shoved past him.

“Hmph, biting the hand that feeds you. I was just trying to warn you,” the Rogue player from Dragon at Large looked at Kamiyu as if she were already a dead person.

The others, especially the Newbie players, watched Kamiyu’s departing figure with growing concern.

It was like the classic line from the movie First Blood: “You own the town, but I own the hills.”

Entering the Wilderness Zone, Kamiyu felt no fear. Instead, she experienced a sense of boundless freedom—like a fish returning to the vast ocean.

The desire to slaughter, the urge to level up, burned fiercely within her.

She could almost hear her two Legendary Weapons—【NTW-40】 and 【Demon-Repelling Holy Flame】—constantly calling out to her.

“Fire.”

“Slaughter.”

“Massacre everything.”

“Burn everything to ashes.”

“Kill.”

Her heart rate kept accelerating.

If any Veteran Players had been nearby, they would have said this was the influence of the Crimson Earth on Players.

They would have called it 【Slaughter Echo】.

Leaving the Main City and stepping into the Crimson Earth would lower a Player’s SAN Value, greatly increasing their desire to kill and destroy.

It was precisely because of this that many Players would lose control, leading to them being surrounded and killed by Aberrant Beast Demons.

She had barely traveled 20 meters from the Main City.

She was practically still right beneath the City Wall, yet even here, the Crimson Earth’s “Echo” was already affecting Kamiyu’s mind.

Drawn deeper by this “Echo,” Kamiyu moved farther and farther from the Main City.

Since Kamiyu had just attacked an Official Player, the Newbie Players kept their distance from her, and no Veteran Players were around to warn her against venturing too deep.

Some were worried, while others were just waiting to see the show.

Kamiyu had no idea how far she had walked.

After passing through a patch of low shrubs, a crimson mist suddenly materialized around her.

A rustling sound filled the air.

Over a dozen dog-like Monsters with dark black fur, scorpion tails for tails, and mouths full of sharp tentacles charged out of the mist, surrounding Kamiyu.

What was this?

Kamiyu opened the Monster Compendium on her Interface Panel—thankfully, her Beta Tester Title included this function.

【Monster Name: Fallen Demons】

【Level: 5-8】

【Weakness: Fear of Fire】

“Wow, it even marks their Levels and weaknesses. So convenient,” Kamiyu remarked.

“If they’re afraid of fire, then my Demon-Repelling Holy Flame, which naturally carries fire attributes, is perfect.”

“Ha, I’m going to kill nonstop.” Under the mental influence—the “Echo”—of the Crimson Earth, Kamiyu’s killing intent was intense.

Bang. A gunshot.

Testing the waters first.

Whoosh.

The Bullet struck the black dog-like Fallen Demon, and a jet-black flame instantly enveloped its body.

The splashing ammunition set the nearby Fallen Demons ablaze as well.

In less than two seconds, the Fallen Demons were burned to charcoal, and with a gust of wind, they crumbled into dust.

“Is that it? A Level 5 Fallen Demon killed by a single shot from me?”

“Even stray bullets can burn the nearby monsters to death.”

“So fragile.” Kamiyu had even worried whether she could handle them, already preparing to unleash her Skill.

“But where are my Dropped Items?”

Less than a second after she spoke.

A flash of blue light appeared, and five Strangler Vines, five Radaman Grasses, and 200 grams of beast bones materialized on the ground.

“Oh ho, there are herbs for brewing Potions and materials for crafting equipment.” Kamiyu exclaimed excitedly.

At that moment, her Player Panel also updated.

【Ding, Experience Points +100】

【Level 10: 2103/100000】

Seeing their companions killed so easily, the remaining Fallen Demons immediately turned and fled.

“Hahaha, good doggies, don’t run away.” Kamiyu said cheerfully.
