Chapter 127: Encircled

Chapter 127: Encircled

Lei Yao was determined to go all the way down this dark path. Steeling his heart, he sacrificed all the human players in another Sanctuary.

Since he had already allied with demons and joined the Hell Army to conquer Kaijistan, he had already positioned himself against humanity. What else was he incapable of doing?

The Demon King Mephisto was also true to his word. First, he spat out a Dark Gold-tier two-handed longsword and continued, “A life for a life. From now on, the Hell Army will be entirely under your command.”

It turned out that during the first wave of attacks, the command of the Hell Army had been with Mephisto.

Now, by sacrificing over 3,000 lives, Lei Yao had obtained an equal number of Aberrant Beast Demons and also gained command authority.

The treacherous Mephisto laughed cunningly in his heart, “Hehehehe, hahahaha, humans, falling into the trap again.”

During the first wave of attacks, Mephisto intentionally had the Aberrant Beast Demons cluster together and throw themselves into battle, all to make Lei Yao increase his stakes. Now, just as Mephisto had hoped, Lei Yao had sacrificed over 3,000 human lives.

This brought Mephisto one step closer to fully restoring his strength.

Mephisto cared nothing for the lives of Aberrant Beast Demons, much less for human lives. He was manipulating everything from behind the scenes, all to revive himself and regain dominion over the Crimson Earth.

If Kamiyu knew about this, she would surely complain, “What kind of messy game is this? Can’t you keep it simple?”

There was An Dao, an ambitious priest who sought to use the Hell Army to invade the real world and rule over all.

There was Lei Yao, an “idealist” who wanted to use the Hell Army and demons to thoroughly cleanse the Crimson Earth and protect the entire world.

And then there was Mephisto, the avenger lurking in the shadows, using everyone to exact revenge on other demons, Demon Kings, and angels.

And finally, there was Kamiyu, a chess piece on the board who thought she was the player.

However, Kamiyu would rely on her own strength to carve out her own path on this treacherous chessboard.

At this very moment.

In Lei Yao’s secret brass room, the Skull Blood Wolf had already vanished, heading to another of Lei Yao’s Sanctuaries to feast to its heart’s content.

A two-handed longsword, entirely black and exuding an aura of sinister malevolence, lay horizontally on the brass table.

Lei Yao picked up this longsword, which seemed to breathe with a life of its own, oozing with dark red blood. His crimson eyes widened as he took a deep breath.

“Such immense power. So this is a Dark Gold-tier weapon—a weapon capable of turning the tide of battle and altering the rules of war.”

“I can’t keep it out for too long, or even the wielder will be in danger.” Lei Yao immediately stored the Dark Gold-tier two-handed longsword in his spatial backpack.

He now finally had the qualifications to open this demon-bound Grimoire, its pages filled with writings on how to summon and control Aberrants and demons.

“An Dao really was deceiving me, making me gather several times the required summoning materials,” Lei Yao discovered as he examined this authentic, original Tome of Demon Summoning. Its contents differed significantly from what An Dao had told him.

Surprising or not, even in another world, there were people taking kickbacks.

Lei Yao pondered, “An Dao deliberately took so many extra summoning materials. He must be planning something behind the scenes.”

But there was no time to dwell on that now. First, he needed to summon the second wave of Aberrant Beast Demons.

Lei Yao began chanting incantations. The Tome of Demon Summoning flipped its pages automatically, and a fierce gale rose around him.

Meanwhile, at the entrance of the Sanctuary, Mephisto glanced back into the distance and said in a deep voice, “I haven’t even started eating yet, humans. You really couldn’t wait.”

Lei Yao’s Second Sanctuary was located southeast of the Main City, south of the moat.

At that moment, a blood-red Transmutation Circle appeared out of thin air beneath the Second Sanctuary. Countless shadow demon wolves emerged from the circle, frantically tearing apart and devouring the living people inside the Sanctuary.

“Enemy attack! We’re under attack!”

“What kind of monsters are these? I’ve never seen them before.”

“Is this a Player’s Skill?”

“Didn’t they say Aberrant Beast Demons couldn’t breach the Sanctuary?”

“Where’s Lei Yao? Where is he? Get him here to handle this!”

“I want to go home.”

“Brothers, go Offline. As long as we go Offline, we can avoid this.”

“What the hell? I can’t go Offline. The button is locked.”

“Quick, open the Sanctuary! Open the gates!”

“We can’t. Only Beta Testers can open or close the gates.”

“Then get Lei Yao here to open them immediately!” a High Level Officer said.

The Skull Blood Wolf leaped high into the air, soaring into the Sanctuary.

“Who are you?”

Mephisto wasn’t one for Flexing. He was even more of a Camper than Kamiyu and loved stirring up trouble. He wouldn’t waste words on someone about to die. The over three thousand people here would become the Flesh and Blood to Revive him.

In less than a quarter of an hour, the Second Sanctuary had turned into a living Hell, with not a single living creature left.

The Skull Blood Wolf’s body grew larger, its tattered form partially restored.

Mephisto pushed over the Altar of his daughter Lilith, which stood at the very center of the Sanctuary. Opening his bloody maw, he swallowed the man-sized Altar whole.

He leaped to the highest point of the fortress, gazing toward the Main City Kaijistan in the distance. A wicked smile spread across his face. They were coming. Finally, they were coming.

At that very moment, in the Main City.

The number of Players had gathered once again, exceeding four thousand. For easier command, a simple command post had been set up below Kamiyu’s southern tower.

“Report! Urgent messages from the Sanctuaries in the south, west, and north of the city. A large number of Aberrant Beast Demons are approaching, 20 kilometers from the Main City.”

“Finally, they’re here after all this waiting.” Li Changde finally let out a sigh of relief.

“Hahaha, time to level up again. Let’s see who gets more points this time, just like the old Hell Tide days,” said another major Guild Leader.

However, the relaxed atmosphere lasted less than three minutes.

“Report! The official Second Sanctuary has lost contact.”

“What? The Second Sanctuary had over three thousand people. How could it lose contact? Send Beast Tamers to investigate.”

Upon receiving the radio message from the command post, Kamiyu on the tower immediately adjusted her gun toward the northern Battlefield, searching for Jack’s location.

Radio could only be used for short distances within the Main City. Outside the city, it was unusable due to Slaughter Echo interference. Kamiyu had no choice but to fire a flare into the sky to alert Jack outside the Wilderness Zone.

Seeing this, Jack took out a glowing mirror and waved it toward the Main City.

“Found him,” Kamiyu said, spotting Jack in the mirror.

He was being chased by a horde of Aberrant Beast Demons.

“Damn, do they have to send so many? The numbers are three times what they were before, and every single Monster is at least level 20,” Kamiyu remarked.

Fortunately, she had given Jack a pair of 3x speed “Skate Shoes” in advance, allowing him to kite the monsters.

“Great job, just like that, lure the monsters to the cliff.”

“Keep going, keep going, up, up, up.”

“Don’t come over here, follow Jack.”

Kamiyu also blasted away stray monsters, shocking any that dared approach the Main City.

And so, over a thousand Aberrant Beast Demons were lured by Kamiyu and Jack working together toward Lei Yao’s Sanctuary.

Just as Lei Yao reappeared on the training ground, ready to deliver another impassioned speech, that staff officer rushed in again.

“Something terrible has happened—we’re surrounded,” the staff officer said nervously.

“Surrounded by Players? They reacted that quickly? Impossible, I just summoned the Aberrant Beast Demons,” Lei Yao asked.

“No, it’s by the Aberrant Beast Demons—there are over a thousand of them,” the staff officer said.

With a “boom,” Lei Yao, weakened after the Sacrifice, couldn’t withstand the pressure this time and collapsed in front of the thousand soldiers.
