Chapter 157: Gains and a Shocking Turn

Chapter 157: Gains and a Shocking Turn

After Jack pulled the spear out of Kamiyu’s body, her Player Panel instantly returned to normal, with all Skill slots becoming usable again.

She sprang to her feet with a carp’s leap, dusted herself off, and said, “You got the thing, right?”

Kamiyu didn’t seem to care at all whether the Demon Shadow had shattered the Heavenly Father Altar.

“Got it. I even gave An Dao a bone to chew on,” Jack replied, pulling a Lilith “figurine” from his backpack and handing it to Kamiyu.

“Really? His expression must have been priceless,” Kamiyu said, accepting the Altar of Lilith as if it were a dragon-head staff. Though she lowered her head to examine the altar closely, she gave off the aura of someone holding her head high, tightly gripping power in her hands as if victorious.

“Obtained without the slightest effort. So what if it’s the Hell Tide? So what if it’s Lei Yao? No matter how many Aberrant Beast Demons, humans, Demon Kings, or fallen ones come, they won’t stop me from building a Sanctuary.” Kamiyu clenched the Altar of Lilith tightly, her eyes beginning to take on the sinister gleam of a ruler.

This look from Kamiyu sent a chill down Ye Feixuan’s spine, who was standing not far away.

“What are you staring at? I’m also confiscating Lei Yao’s two Sanctuaries as war reparations for his collusion with Aberrant Beast Demons to attack the Main City,” Kamiyu declared, delivering her judgment on the spot.

Kamiyu thought to herself, “The Heavenly Father told me that Seriga was captured by the main force of the Demon army, with various High-Tier Demons now entrenched there, turning it into a forbidden dead zone for humans.

Recapturing the Main City Seriga will be a brutal battle. There’s an ancient saying from a civilized nation on another continent: ‘With ten times the enemy’s strength, surround them; with five times, attack them.’

If we disregard casualties, we’d need at least three times the enemy’s strength to capture a Main City.

Before, building Sanctuaries was about gaining a foothold on the Crimson Earth. But now it’s different—I need Sanctuaries as forward fortresses to reclaim Seriga.”

After hearing this, Jack understood immediately, his eyes lighting up. He knew Kamiyu intended to recapture the Main City Seriga, and naturally, the more Sanctuaries she had, the better. Players could teleport between Sanctuaries belonging to the same Beta Tester.

By planting Sanctuaries like nails in the four directions around Seriga—east, south, west, and north—they could save players travel time and employ all sorts of interesting tactics.

First, send in some reckless fighters who are particularly loud and often shout their Skill names to attack. The Demons would think the players’ main assault was from the south, but after a few clashes, the real heavy forces would appear in the north. Then, after a few more clashes, surprise troops would emerge from the west.

The idea masters would always find Seriga’s weak points in defense and come up with even better strategies for taking the city.

Jack looked at Kamiyu with great anticipation. She had so many devious ideas; she was sure to toy with these High Level Demons to death.

He believed in Kamiyu. Even with just one Sanctuary, she could take Seriga. And if she took Lei Yao’s two Altars of Lilith, she’d have three Sanctuaries, making the capture of Seriga even more certain.

Until just a short while ago, it was the defense of Kaijistan. Next, the siege of Seriga would begin.

When the Demon Shadow leaped over the Main City, Kamiyu already knew Kaijistan was beyond saving. The Hell Army would break through the boundary between the two Worlds and reach the Real World.

Some choose to save the world in reality, while others opt to establish new main cities and new footholds—that person is Kamiyu.

Upon hearing that Lei Yao’s two Sanctuaries were no longer secure, Ye Feixuan wasted no time on futile resistance. She immediately prostrated herself on the ground, pleading with utmost humility: “I only beg Lady Kamiyu to spare Lei Yao.”

“You think I’ll spare him just because you ask? Sparing him would be like releasing a tiger back into the mountains, leaving a future threat. To uproot weeds, you must tear them out by the roots. Enough talk. Jack, go.” Kamiyu stored the Altar of Lilith back into her spatial backpack and gestured with her finger toward Jack.

Like a Rottweiler unleashed from its leash, Jack charged forward instantly. With triple-speed shoes and the Doombringer, he could turn Lei Yao into blue light in the next moment.

Ye Feixuan’s face turned as dark as ink, her silver teeth grinding in fury. She actually pulled out a heavy Grimoire with a Demon Skin as its cover.

Kamiyu recognized the Magic Circle on the book’s cover. She had seen it in the Construction Sage’s building interface—it was the Tome of Demon Summoning, exclusive to the Demon King Mephisto, specifically used to summon the Hell Army and the primary source of Aberrant Beast Demons during the Hell Tide.

“Calling for backup when you can’t win? Can’t handle losing?” Kamiyu widened her eyes.

“Jack, retreat! This book is extremely sinister.” But she immediately added in the next moment.

Even without Kamiyu’s warning, Jack sensed the intense evil aura erupting from the Tome of Demon Summoning.

The Doombringer in Jack’s hand resonated violently with the Tome of Demon Summoning. Under the influence of hatred, he saw a terrifying Hell, with raging infernal flames and countless souls tormented in rivers of fire.

He forcibly stored the Doombringer back into his backpack space, barely regaining his senses, then drew another Weapon and swiftly retreated to Kamiyu’s side.

Seeing Jack drenched in sweat as if he had just stepped out of a sauna, panting heavily, Kamiyu asked, “Are you okay?”

Jack shook his head.

Kamiyu’s heart sank. If Jack were fine, he would have boasted about it. The fact that he only shook his head meant something was wrong—he couldn’t even speak now.

“This Tome of Demon Summoning… just being near it causes such severe effects? Is it really that sinister?” Kamiyu immediately switched to her strongest Weapon, Chaos Incarnate, and watched Ye Feixuan warily.

She lightly tapped Jack’s back.

“Kamiyu, you forced me into this.” Ye Feixuan screamed hysterically, then pressed her hand forcefully onto the cover of the Tome of Demon Summoning.

“I didn’t force you! Don’t take things this far.” As soon as she finished speaking, Kamiyu fired.

Headshot Strike.

540x Super-Phase Energy Cannon.

Kamiyu acted decisively, unleashing her strongest attack without hesitation. The massive energy wave completely engulfed Ye Feixuan and Lei Yao. The already flattened hill in the distance saw its elevation drop below sea level once more.

“What’s going on? Another cannon blast outside the Main City?”

The distant Sanctuary observed another intensely bright energy blast.

“It’s Kamiyu’s cannon fire. At this scale, it’s full DPS level. Could something terrible have happened at the Main City?” a Beta Tester exclaimed in surprise.

Thick smoke billowed.

As the smoke cleared, a woman with long silver-white hair, a gaunt face, and eyes filled with intense hatred stood up. This was Ye Feixuan after her fall into demonhood.

The Tome of Demon Summoning in her hands was gone. She cradled the unconscious Lei Yao in her arms, glaring at Kamiyu, Jack, and everything around her with eyes full of hatred.

“White-haired enchantress? Are we going all out?” Kamiyu exclaimed in astonishment.

“A real Demon? Not some low-grade fake like An Dao?” She noticed Ye Feixuan’s marker change from human to Demon. When they fought An Dao earlier, he had always been human.

“To withstand my strongest attack, 540 times over, without a scratch—truly terrifying.” As Kamiyu spoke, her next move was to give Jack a hint to go offline and escape.

“You wouldn’t understand. This is the power of love.” The hatred in Ye Feixuan’s eyes vanished as she gazed affectionately at her beloved Lei Yao.
