Chapter 30 – He is reckless
Suреrmоdel Freуа hаd арparentlу bеen invited tо an evеnt in Shinjuku tоdау tо tаlk about fаshion.
I blendеd in with thе girls and соuрlеs whо werе interеsted in that sоrt оf thing, оbsеrving the venuе.
Thе locatiоn wаs a speciаl stаge.
Since it was Christmаs, thеy were putting on а lаvish, exрensivе fаshiоn еvent.
This was a wоrld I’d never knоwn until nоw.
Frеya hаd аn intеrpretеr with her and wаs speaking in a fitting mаnnеr.
“Can Frеуa sрeak Jаpanesе?”
‘I don’t think shе сan speak it at аll. Franklу, shе lоoks dоwn on Jaраn.’
“Wоw, what a nаsty wоmаn.”
‘Маstеr, did yоu just mаkе a rеаlly intense face? I can’t see it, but I can sort of tell!’
Freya was a model from Northern Europe—tall and slender, with the deep, beautiful features typical of Caucasians, long legs, and refined movements… she embodied everything you’d imagine when you hear the word “model.”
Moreover, her tone of voice had a certain elegance to it; I could see why she was popular.
But inside, she was a nasty Fallen Witch.
“She’s just saying fashionable things through her interpreter the whole time, not saying anything witch-like at all.”
‘Well, of course. Even though she’s young, she’s still on the side of the old witches. Normally, anyone would understand that acting openly would ruin everything they’ve built up. Normally.’
As we were having that conversation…
Freya, while chatting and laughing, scanned the venue…
And made eye contact with me.
Oh?
This is…
‘Ah, you’ve been spotted. She’s not showing it on her face, but she seems pretty shocked.’
“Well, she probably didn’t expect her target to come watch from right in front of her. Yeah! Hey, Freya, looking over here?”
I gave her a peace sign like a gyaru.
For a moment, I thought I saw a vein bulge on Freya’s temple.
‘Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha! You’re something else, Master! Yeah! Hey, looking at the Grimoire of Flame? Can’t see where it’s placed, can you? I’m chatting right in front of Abazure with Master!’
In front of the public, as a witch, she couldn’t openly wield her power.
Taking advantage of this, we decided to provoke her a little.
It would make it easier later, whether to lure her in or to make a move.
Because an opponent who looks down on us, thinking we’re novice witches, would lose even more coolness due to anger.
However, I miscalculated.
The opponent didn’t think about consequences… she was an idiot!
“Eek! Smoke from the stage!” “Huh? It’s not a fire, is it?” “It’s burning! Something’s burning!!”
Freya was impulsive; when she got angry, she’d attack without thinking—a dangerous witch.
‘Ah-ha-ha, she was even dumber than I thought!’
“This is no laughing matter! Flota said we’d end up in a life-shield situation, right? I don’t think Spice would like that.”
‘Then shall we fly and make ourselves look like targets, Master?’
“Sounds like a good target!”
Even as I said that, I used Metamorphose to transform into Spice’s one good outfit—the mini apron dress!
I floated up gently using Levitation.
“Ah! A girl is flying!” “What’s going on?” “Whoa—a pillar of fire from the stage!!”
The special stage was completely engulfed in flames.
Inside it, Freya alone was glaring at us with a terrifying expression.
She was chanting a spell in some incomprehensible foreign language.
This is bad, isn’t it?
‘Master! Spiral is originally a defensive Magic!’
“Ah, I see! Twist it, Spiral!”
The next moment, a huge fireball came flying toward Spice!
One of the pillars of fire had risen and launched itself!
How outrageous!
But the Spiral I’d set up beforehand twisted it, along with the space around it, and sent it flying in another direction.
Whoa—it landed on the road!
Since there was nothing to burn, it extinguished itself while melting the road.
Unbelievable!
But it didn’t end there; pillars of fire erupted one after another, spreading flames all around.
“Floooooootaaaaaa!! You witch brat!!”
Ah, somehow I understood that.
‘That’s Magic language. Oh, it looks like the fire trucks have been dispatched!’
As for me, I kept deflecting the incoming pillars of fire one after another with Spiral.
The surroundings were a disaster, but since I’m preventing the pillars from falling on people and keeping human casualties at zero, I hope they’ll forgive me!
Man, Freya really has no restraint!
And I’m on the defensive the whole time.
I’m getting kind of tired…
‘Over there, the more fire she creates, the more Magic Power she can supply from it, so she effectively has infinite stamina.’
“That’s unfair! That’s cheating!”
‘She’s really nasty! Honestly, if we could just cut off that fire, we could win.’
It seems like that’s the key to victory.
While I was somehow holding on, the fire trucks finally arrived.
They aimed their hoses at the flaming venue and started spraying water.
Whether Freya finally thought it was bad or realized she’d gone too far…
She suddenly turned serious and disappeared into the smoke rising from the flames.
Well, I meant to scout the enemy, but we ended up fighting.
Thanks to flying and Spiral, I managed to hold out.
“I need to create a battlefield where no one gets hurt and lure her in. How should I do that?”
As I was pondering, the onlookers started making a commotion.
Ah, not good!
I’ve been flying in front of the public this whole time too!
In a panic, I applied Accel to Levitation and moved to the top of Shinjuku Station.
‘I think if we had Concurrent Viewers on our Stream, we could put up more of a fight. But even if we say no one gets hurt… the previous master fought in the mountains, but unless it’s a place far from human habitation…’
“We’re in Tokyo’s 23 wards, so almost everywhere is inhabited. If you’re talking about places with no people, that would only be… ah.”
‘Shall we lure her into a Dungeon!’
“Is that the only option?!”
I had to carefully plan our strategy against the Witch of Flame, Freya.
