Chapter 6 – Get through with the cards you have

First, I plасеd Маshiro on the tаblе and used Flоat to lеvitаtе it.

Whеn I рullеd the tablе, it moved еаsily.

“Ваsiсаllу, it beсomеs fixed in sрасе with a cеrtain аmount of forсе. But since yоu’rе the one who cаst thе magic, Master, уоu can сhangе its роsitiоn or move it arоund.”

“I see. Sо Flоаt can bе usеd аs an obstаcle оr a foothold.”

I соntinued chесking with Flotа about whаt my magic сould dо.

Аfter all, the only сards I сurrеntlу havе are Меtаmorphоse, Lеvitаtiоn, аnd Flоat.

With just thеsе, I hаve tо nаvigate through the Dungeon and safely escort my junior, Mashiro, outside.

“Let’s see… Float works even without direct contact, right…”

“Master! The Dungeon’s arm is coming this way! Be careful!”

“Again?! Then I’ll just… float up, table, chairs! Float!”

It was a pretty careless incantation, but it worked perfectly.

The tables and chairs around me rose into the air, and the pitch-black arm extending from deep within the Dungeon slammed into them repeatedly.

It really can’t break through.

Eventually, the arm seemed to give up and retracted.

“What was that…?”

“Hmm…? I haven’t been outside the library in decades, so I’m not sure. Time passes differently in closed spaces, you know.”

If she hasn’t been outside, she probably doesn’t know much about the Dungeon.

I guess I’ll have to investigate while moving.

Time to start moving.

I checked how to move the table floating with Float.

Hey, I can move it by kicking my legs in the air!

Nice, nice.

I got on the table and decided to move by fluttering my legs stretched out behind me, floating along.

The speed is roughly equivalent to a brisk walk.

Pretty decent momentum.

“Master looks so cute kicking his legs like that~”

“I’m doing my best here! Alright, next, let’s see how far Levitation can take me.”

I tested it while moving.

I need to figure out what I can do before any Dungeon monsters show up.

When I used it on myself, I floated up gently.

With this, I can also move by kicking, doing the breaststroke, or even the crawl.

Not very cool, though!

Don’t I have any magic for flying normally through the air?

“That kind of magic won’t be unlocked until you grow as a Witch, Master.”

“Even though the magic is recorded within me, it’s not very flexible…”

“My apologies! But you’ve been thrust into this dire situation, starting from a state even before being a Witch Apprentice, so I’m sure you’ll become an amazing Witch! …If you survive.”

“That last part!”

Flota’s tone is cheerful, but she’s quite the realist.

I need to make sure I don’t die either.

With that in mind, I used Float to levitate the materials and documents around me, arranging them in front of the table as shields or weapons.

Once they’re floating, weight doesn’t seem to matter.

“Ggyagyagyagg!” “Gyagyagyaa!!”

“Uguwaa!!”

Up ahead, I heard the voices of something non-human and death throes.

The scene soon came into view.

Monsters with green skin, wielding box cutters or computer displays, were attacking a person who had fallen.

Blood was spreading.

This is bad.

“They’ve noticed us! They’re coming!”

“I know. Whoa, Goblins… first time seeing them in person. They’re nothing like Small Fry Monsters.”

When a Dungeon appears, monsters emerge from somewhere.

Among them, Goblins are a typical type.

They’re considered cannon fodder monsters, and they always look weak when Streamers fight them, but facing them myself, they don’t seem weak at all.

“Gyaaa!!” “Ggyagyagyaa!!”

The Goblins charged.

The display was an antique-level CRT monitor, which made it heavy and gave it destructive power as a blunt weapon.

Before it could strike, I used Float to levitate the piles of documents scattered around as a shield.

“Gyaoo!”

When the Goblin’s swung display hit the documents, the pile shifted back slightly.

“The documents got knocked back! Can’t rely on them as a sturdy shield. Then…!”

I used Float to levitate the documents again.

The amount was equivalent to a cartload of documents.

Thank goodness my company is slow with going paperless!

Thanks, useless paper!!

I floated it above the Goblin’s head…

“Ggyagya…”

“Float, release!”

The massive pile of documents fell onto the Goblin.

“Uguwaa!?”

One of the Goblins was crushed under the documents.

“Gya!?”

The other Goblin, startled, looked over.

Meanwhile, I charged with the table!

I kicked off the wall and pushed the table forward in one go.

The corner of the table slammed into the Goblin with a thud, eliciting a truly pained scream like “Gyaa!”

“Float, display! Float!”

Taking advantage of the opening, I levitated the CRT display dropped by the defeated Goblin.

“Float the documents too! Float! And Levitation on me!”

As I jumped up, I gathered the levitated documents, display, and various materials above the Goblin’s head.

The Goblin, who had been holding its head, had just managed to stand up.

And from above its head…

“Release!”

A mass attack, including my own weight, crushed it!

“Uguwaa!?”

The pinned Goblin screamed, then turned into particles of light and vanished.

It seemed I had defeated two Goblins.

Whew…

How are these Small Fry?

They’re tough, really tough.

“Excellent work, Master! The Goblins have turned into Mana Fragments, so I’ll collect them.”

“Mana Fragments? Oh, there are some glittering particles left.”

They’re the souls of monsters summoned from another world. They help temporarily activate Grimoires like us.”

“Ah, the person who fell…”

“That one’s no good. They’re already dead.”

“S…Seriously…?!”

The Dungeon is harsher than I imagined.

And we treat this as entertainment with Dungeon Streams?

No, but I’ve heard that Adventure Streamers grow stronger as their Concurrent Viewers increase and they receive support.

Maybe by intentionally turning it into entertainment and garnering support, they’re eliminating the danger…

“Master, I sense a Fragment! There’s a Grimoire Fragment in this Dungeon!”

Flota began to glow brightly.

No time to get lost in thought.

“Got it! Let’s go retrieve it. We need to increase our hand even a little. As things stand, if we encounter anything stronger than Goblins, we won’t be able to fight properly!”

And so, I continued moving the table by kicking my legs, heading further and further ahead.

Up ahead should be the warehouse…
