Chapter 13 – There is Still Another System

Chapter 13 – There is Still Another System

Du Liang leaned in to take a look as well, and found that the benefits were pretty decent. After all, if there were no war, Su Ming would be bored out of her mind—basically nothing to do, and no training required either.

Company Commander: “Actually, you already have Sword Ghost at the Eighth Realm. Logically speaking, those who could kill you are few and far between, but for safety’s sake, we’ll still send someone.”

Su Ming: “Then I don’t have to handle their meals, right?”

Company Commander: “Of course not. They’ll only protect you from the shadows.”

Su Ming thought for a moment: “How about this—I don’t think these people following me around would be of much use anyway, and being watched feels a bit uncomfortable.”

The Company Commander looked a bit helpless: “Do you know how important you are to us right now? Those who can comprehend talents are rare to begin with. If something happens to you, it would be hard for us to find another.”

Su Ming: “Uh… Can I ask how the last one died?”

Company Commander: “A few months ago, the rumor is that a Black-Robed Man killed him in the middle of the street.”

Su Ming: “Ah… In the middle of the street?”

Company Commander: “Yeah, beaten to death in broad daylight.”

Su Ming: “Assign me that squad, thank you.”

That said, hearing about the Black-Robed Man again made her feel uneasy. Which side was he really on—here to help her or to harm her?

Company Commander: “Then it’s settled. Now, will you still participate in the trial?”

Su Ming glanced at her own score—only a little over five thousand points. In the standings here, Du Liang didn’t have a share; he had just over three thousand points. Third place was Shi Zhen, with a bit over two thousand.

Su Ming: “Yes!”

The principal was speechless. If she kept killing like this, how were the others supposed to play?

In the end, a verbal agreement was reached: Su Ming could only kill ghosts or beasts above the Fifth Realm.

Su Ming: “Damn, that’s so unfair. How about this—can I kill on Du Liang’s behalf?”

The principal gritted his teeth: “I’m already being generous by not kicking you out. What if that Sword Ghost of yours goes berserk?”

Su Ming tried to argue further: “If I accidentally injure some lower-realm ghosts or beasts, that doesn’t count as a violation, right?”

The principal thought it over: “Fine.” Then he left without looking back.

The trial was originally supposed to last five days, but under Su Ming’s “accidental injuries,” within just three days, all the ghosts and beasts here were slaughtered by Sword Ghost. The dropped ghost beads and beast cores all went to Su Ming, and Fatty became a free-riding winner.

However, this also caused quite a few people to fail the passing line—the pass rate was twenty percent lower than in previous years…

“Damn, which idiot killed all the enemies?”

“Then how are we supposed to pass? Whoever did this—if I find out, I’ll freaking kill them!”

“Bro, don’t talk nonsense. We’re all at the First Realm; even handling a Second Realm would be tough. Besides, he didn’t kill any First or Second Realm ones either.”

Because Sword Ghost was slaughtering everywhere, almost everyone had seen Su Ming running around with Sword Ghost. Some thanked Su Ming for saving them, while others complained that Su Ming was stopping them from scoring points…

Backstage, the principal and company commander looked at Su Ming’s score of over ten thousand points with dark expressions. Well, this was supposed to be for selecting talent, but now it seemed they only needed to select Su Ming alone.

Su Ming looked at the several sacks of spirit beads and beast cores in her system space and quickly used a teleportation talisman to withdraw from the trial—otherwise, if people came after her later, it would be trouble.

The ghost domain had already directly entered Su Ming’s body. Su Ming could summon it at will, and as long as she wanted, it could appear anywhere at any time, making it a mobile supply depot for the military…

The spirit beast domain system had been given directly to Su Ming. Now Su Ming held two domains in her grasp and could toss all the ghosts and beasts she collected into them.

However, Guo Dong was quite indignant—he couldn’t believe someone was actually stronger than him…

Guo Dong: “System, analyze whether that person has a Vermilion Bird.”

(From now on, let’s distinguish: Su Ming’s system is called the Ghost Immortal System, and Guo Dong’s system is called the Divine Beast System.)

Divine Beast System: “That person has already contracted the Vermilion Bird.”

Guo Dong clenched both fists tightly. He should have just used the ability granted by the system and killed the Flood Dragon outright—he had a severely wounded True Black Tortoise on his hands after all.

He dared to give Yun Shang a Black Tortoise precisely because he possessed a True Black Tortoise. It was just a pity that that tortoise refused to submit to him.

If he could obtain that True Black Tortoise, he would effectively have combat power at the Peak Ninth Realm, and once its wounds were healed, he might even reach the Ancient God Realm—one realm higher than the Grandmaster Realm.

At this moment, no one knew that the Black-Robed Man was watching Guo Dong from behind the scenes. As long as Guo Dong dared to summon the Black Tortoise, he was confident he could take it away directly.

Ghost Immortal System warned the Black-Robed Man: “He’s already sensed that Qingmei contracted the Vermilion Bird, but right now the Black Tortoise is sealed in the system space by Guo Dong. There’s nothing I can do to intervene.”

Black-Robed Man: “Protect her. I’ll find a way to recover the other three sacred beasts.”

Ghost Immortal System: “Be careful. Also, the Vermilion Bird’s injuries are severe—her origin is badly damaged. I’m afraid it’ll be hard to help her.”

Black-Robed Man: “There’s no other way. Saving her back then nearly cost me my life. To protect her, I couldn’t let her recover quickly. Now that she’s with Qingmei, it’s like returning the treasure to its rightful owner.”

Ghost Immortal System: “The Azure Dragon and White Tiger are currently missing. We must find them, or else if the military uses Guo Dong’s Three Sacred Beasts, it’ll be very disadvantageous for us.”

Black-Robed Man: “Alright, I’ll do my best to search. Let me know if you get any clues. Also, remember to have Qingmei kill Guo Dong—he’s an important pawn for the military.”

Ghost Immortal System: “He’s hard to kill. You should be able to sense the two Grandmaster Realm experts near him.”

Black-Robed Man said helplessly: “Fine then. Also, remember to give that ghost to Qingmei later—that ghost’s talent is definitely stronger than the current Blood Soul Ghost.”

Ghost Immortal System: “Alright, take care of yourself.”

Then the Ghost Immortal System left, and the Black-Robed Man continued observing. Killing Guo Dong right under the noses of two Grandmaster Realm experts would be difficult, but taking away the Black Tortoise was still within his grasp.

Meanwhile, Guo Dong was still pondering how to take back the Vermilion Bird, and then how to trick Yun Shang into bed…

Yun Shang was repulsed. What she hated most was Guo Dong’s sugar-coated artillery shells. However, she was quite interested in Su Ming’s Ice Crystal Turtle. It certainly wasn’t the same one, but its sleepy personality was very similar.

As she was thinking, Yun Shang left the backstage on her own. She knew where Su Ming was, and she really wanted to see that Ice Crystal Turtle.

After retreating, Su Ming and Fatty arrived at the teleportation array. They were the first ones out—mainly because everyone at the Third Realm and above had been killed clean by the Sword Ghost. There was simply nothing interesting left.

Su Ming sensed the ghost domain within her body. The chef ghost inside was still working hard on cooking, but they simply couldn’t replicate her dishes.

Su Ming was speechless: “I’m really curious how you guys died…” (“▔□▔)

She looked toward the spirit beast domain, where Vermilion Bird was building a nest, seemingly planning to settle in for the long haul.

Meanwhile, Ice Crystal Turtle was still sound asleep inside her body—that sleeping turtle really could snooze.

Just then, Yun Shang walked over and gave a very polite bow:

“Fellow student Su Ming, may I take a look at your Ice Crystal Turtle? Thank you.”

Fatty’s eyes went wide. He knew she was the saintess of the Heavenly Saint Sect, but he never expected her to actually know Su Ming…
