Chapter 36 – Is Your Blood Really This Powerful?

Su Ming: “Alright, we’ve talked enough. Do you know anything about the origin of this egg?”

Vermilion Bird: “I’d guess it’s either a part of The Calamity’s incarnation, or it’s the legendary power that can oppose The Calamity.”

Su Ming thought about the possibility of it being The Calamity: “Then… should I hatch it or not?”

Vermilion Bird said helplessly: “Actually… think about why it’s here…”

Su Ming: “Don’t tell me it can’t be hatched…”

Vermilion Bird: “Mm…”

Su Ming actually really wanted to ask the system, but ever since it started reshaping her body, it had rarely paid attention to her.

Su Ming stood up: “Blood Soul, Head Chef, Old Turtle, you all cultivate here. Vermilion Bird and I are going out for a while.”

Chef Ghost Leader didn’t know Su Ming’s true strength: “Boss, is this form of yours alright…”

Blood Soul Ghost: “Don’t be fooled by master’s current loli form. Her combat power is actually formidable—she’s at the Early Grandmaster Realm.”

Chef Ghost Leader was so shocked his mouth couldn’t close. He never expected his boss to be hiding so much.

Su Ming: “No one should disturb you here. I’ll leave Sword Ghost behind as well. Don’t go out casually—I’ll buy some food and bring it back.”

Blood Soul Ghost: “Master, are you sure you don’t want us to come along?”

Su Ming: “If you all show up now and someone with keen eyes notices, it’ll expose my identity. That would cause even more trouble.”

With that, Su Ming took all the money with her and left them to cultivate. She calculated that these resources would be enough to raise them by at least one realm.

Walking toward the black market, it was already dark by now. Surprisingly, it was quite lively—nothing like the mysterious vibe she’d imagined for a black market.

Su Ming wasn’t in a hurry to find Ghost General and Twin Blades. Instead, she went to her own auction house first—maybe she could squeeze out some more money.

It was a five-story building. As Su Ming walked in, she saw that the first floor was a hotel where anyone could come to eat or drink tea…

A waiter greeted Su Ming: “Esteemed guest, do you have a membership card (distinguished from VIP Card) for our establishment?”

Su Ming didn’t plan to reveal her VIP Card just yet, and answered honestly: “No, I don’t. Can I get one?”

The waiter brightened at that: “Of course! We have three types of membership cards. The first is a standard membership card, which allows you to participate in our auctions.

“The second is a gold membership card, which gives you a 20% discount on meals on top of that.

“And the third is a supreme membership card, which grants you a private room where you can participate directly in the auction.”

Su Ming: “Could you tell me the prices for the three cards?”

The waiter: “The standard one is 100 gold coins, the gold one is 5,000 gold coins, and the supreme one is 100,000 gold coins.”

Su Ming was genuinely taken aback: “Why is the supreme one suddenly so much more expensive?”

The waiter: “The rooms are limited, and the number of cards is limited too. There were a hundred in total, and now only three remain.”

Su Ming smiled. She hadn’t expected the auction house to be doing such good business.

Su Ming: “Well, you see, I’m new here. I have a collectible I’d like to sell. I was wondering about your rules here.”

The waiter looked at this little girl—what kind of collectible could she possibly have…

Su Ming took out a talisman and pointed at the Vermilion Bird blood on it: “You should understand what this means.”

The waiter froze. The talisman itself was certainly worthless, but Vermilion Bird blood was another story entirely…

At this moment, Vermilion Bird asked Su Ming, “Is this the reason you mentioned on the way here about wanting me to pluck my feathers to make a fan?”

Su Ming replied, “What can I do? They definitely wouldn’t take a second look at my little trinkets. It’s fine, it’s fine—you just make a small sacrifice.”

Vermilion Bird was taken aback. “Is this really a sacrifice? I have plenty of feathers. How about I make the master a set of clothes?”

Su Ming was dumbfounded. Sure enough, she was a kind-hearted master at heart.

Vermilion Bird was puzzled. When she got bored, she would pluck her own feathers to play with, and she had actually been thinking of making the princess a set of clothes…

After making a phone call, the waiter said, “Miss, could you come with me for a moment? Our butler here would like to see you.”

Su Ming pretended to know nothing. “What about your boss?”

The waiter replied, “Our boss is rarely around. The butler handles everything.”

Su Ming asked, “Then how do you split the profits here?”

The waiter quickly covered Su Ming’s mouth. “You look young, so let me give you a piece of advice—you shouldn’t say things like that carelessly.”

Su Ming had a guess in her heart—that butler was probably pocketing a good chunk for himself…

Su Ming followed the waiter to the back, entered an office, and saw the butler and the appraiser.

The waiter said, “I’ll take my leave then. Call me if you need anything.”

With that, he closed the door, leaving the three of them inside.

The butler didn’t dare to be careless. Anyone who could produce a collection item was usually either wealthy or noble, so he asked respectfully, “May I ask about the origin of this miss’s Vermilion Bird blood? And could you allow my subordinate here to appraise it?”

Su Ming handed the talisman to the appraiser. After careful examination, the appraiser gave an absurd conclusion: “Fifty percent purity—top-grade goods.”

Su Ming and Vermilion Bird exchanged speechless smiles. Don’t you think you should at least pick the right person to fool?

The butler noticed the shift in Su Ming’s expression and quickly told the appraiser to give a more accurate assessment.

The appraiser adjusted his glasses. “This… this one needs to be appraised more thoroughly by me. Please wait a moment, you two.”

Su Ming spoke up, “If I find even a single drop missing when I come back, I’ll go have a chat with your boss. I mean what I say.”

Vermilion Bird almost burst out laughing. Good grief—the boss is right here chatting with you, and you still dare to try and swindle her?

The butler probed cautiously, “If I may ask, what is your relationship with the boss…”

Su Ming said, “How should I put it? You know what childhood sweethearts are, right? Well, it’s not exactly that, but anyway, I think I know all his secrets.”

The butler’s heart trembled. He couldn’t quite tell whether she was bluffing or truly had connections.

In his mind, the boss was still the saint Guo Dong—someone with a heart as pure as a child’s. A little money would be enough to deal with him. But this young woman before him seemed a bit different.

Su Ming looked at the appraiser standing there. “Well, get to it! A thousand gold coins per missing drop, mind you.”

The butler was stunned. If it were truly one hundred percent pure Vermilion Bird blood, a single drop would be worth at least ten thousand gold coins…

The butler asked in disbelief, “This is Vermilion Bird blood—a single drop can instantly multiply the combat power of an ordinary bird-type spirit beast several times over. Are you sure it’s only a thousand gold coins?”

Su Ming asked Vermilion Bird, “Is it really that powerful?”

Vermilion Bird was equally bewildered. “I don’t know. Am I really that powerful?”

Su Ming said, “Well, I just asked my friend about it. Since you’ve said as much, do whatever you want. If worse comes to worst, I’ll just tear this place apart.”

The butler couldn’t quite tell whether Su Ming was genuinely that formidable or just putting on airs—her tone did suggest she had some real skill, but who exactly was this friend inside her body…

After a long while, the appraiser emerged: “Miss, although I just drew a drop of blood, I’ve already put it back. It may have affected the efficacy of your talisman, so please don’t mind—I’ll compensate you for any losses.”

Su Ming: “No worries, just tell me the results.”

The appraiser knelt on the ground: “One hundred percent, it’s pure Vermilion Bird blood. I’m sorry, I failed to recognize your greatness.”

The butler hadn’t expected that Su Ming could actually produce blood of such high purity…

Su Ming suddenly recalled that their former boss had been injured by combustion talismans drawn with Vermilion Bird blood, just like hers.

Guo Dong was actually quite impressive, though—he’d only ended up with his skin scorched…
