Chapter 133 – The Opposing Jewel

Chapter 133 – The Opposing Jewel

“Excuse me, Sir Malcolm. May I have a moment?”

“What is it?”

“Well, you seemed to be in some discomfort. Your Majesty, would it be acceptable if I used magic?”

“Go ahead.”

I moved behind the perplexed-looking Malcolm and touched his back. Activating Circulating Ki, I regulated the flow of Magical Power around his stomach area… then applied Healing Magic directly to the disturbed areas using Circulating Ki techniques.

“This is—”

I quickly finished the Circulating Ki and stepped away from Malcolm. When he turned around in surprise, his complexion appeared much improved, with healthy color returning to his face.

“How do you feel?”

“Well, I’m astonished… Somehow I feel much lighter.”

Rubbing his stomach area, Malcolm stared with wide eyes.

Considering he still had to face the Marquis and Norman, and even after that was resolved, managing his territory awaited him… With all these heavy responsibilities on his shoulders, it was quite something.

According to the decryption results, this treatment method was similar to what Mother used. Though in Mother’s case, since she couldn’t use Circulating Ki, she employed a different approach.

She would resonate Magical Power through the body like sonar, identify the affected area from the reflections, and then activate healing magic there. I’d like Ashley to master this sonar method too.

However, the magic Mother used… her approach was different from conventional methods.

The magic Mother used for treatment was Dark Magic 6th Class: Reminiscence and Light Magic 8th Class: Reconstruct.

Reminiscence is magic that reads various information from the target it’s cast on—similar to what’s commonly called psychometry. Meanwhile, Reconstruct is magic that treats various objects as Materials to transform and rebuild them.

Essentially… she seemed to follow a procedure of reading the target’s original form, linking the Spell Formula, reflecting it in Reconstruct, and reconstructing the body to its normal state.

The drawback was… since it required precise Magical Power control, she couldn’t use it on herself. Using Reconstruct on oneself would disrupt the flow of Magical Power.

It’s somewhat different in concept from conventional Healing Magic that enhances regenerative abilities or increases Vitality. If anything, it’s closer to the concept of Magic Construction.

Claudia said she could create vessels of flesh with Healing Magic too… I can’t help but feel the Healing Magic she has in mind is this Reconstruct method.

“I’ve heard that if one has too much aptitude for Healing Magic, their own life force can dissolve into Magical Power… Are you alright?”

“No, my Healing Magic isn’t anything special.”

What King Melvin was referring to was Ashley’s situation. When one’s Magical Power disposition is too oriented toward Healing Magic, such things can occur. This can be mitigated through daily training to increase Vitality and improve Magical Power control ability.

Meaning… regarding Mother’s constitution, since she wasn’t a healing practitioner, there must be some other cause. Since there were descriptions about Magical Power disposition, it seems certain the issue is related to Magical Power aptitude… In any case, it appears she normally used Cursed Tools to Seal it and mitigate the effects.

Well… Mother’s matter can wait.

“Sir Malcolm, I’ve heard stomach pain can sometimes be caused by psychological burdens.”

“Is that so…”

Though I said that, there were aspects Malcolm himself couldn’t do much about. Perhaps Malcolm understood this too, as his expression darkened slightly when I told him.

“…I’ll ask my contacts if there are any good methods.”

“Th-thank you, Ambassador… I appreciate your concern.”

Malcolm showed a touched expression.

The matter between King Melvin and Malcolm was settled. I’d already contacted Father via Communication Device, and the matter with the Marquis should be resolved soon enough.

That aside… since I’d come all the way to the Royal Castle, I decided to visit the North Tower—Rosemary’s place too. Riding the Floating Stone, I headed to the top of the North Tower.

Sure enough, Rosemary was sitting in a chair facing an Ancient Document. When she noticed me, she looked up and said:

“You came. Father told me about the Roy matter.”

“I’m not confident whether it lived up to our previous agreement.”

It was about punching him on her behalf too.

“It’s sufficient. There were rumors that I might have been pulling strings for a long time… Well, I feel vindicated.”

Rosemary showed a mischievous smile.

Perhaps she’d heard about what happened at the port too.

“Has anything changed since then? Besides deciphering Ancient Documents.”

“Nothing particularly. Though if they’d sent some Assassins, that would have provided some conversation material.”

“…We don’t need such dangerous topics. Besides, His Majesty seems to have significantly strengthened security here.”

The North Tower itself is difficult to infiltrate anyway.

“…I suppose I should thank Father.”

With an attitude that could be either joking or serious, Rosemary shrugged her shoulders.

“Do you at least have Magic Tools for healing or poison antidotes prepared?”

“I’ve been allowed to make that much preparation. Though the quality of the Magic Tools isn’t anything special.”

“Then I’ll bring some next time.”

Since “not special” by Rosemary’s standards, who knows what she’d say even if I brought some.

“I’ll look forward to it. It’s this kind of place, but we can at least serve tea?”

“…I’ll have some.”

When I said this with as nonchalant an expression as possible, Rosemary covered her mouth with her feather fan and shook with amusement. She knows full well she drugged me with Magic Potion before, yet she brings this up—really.

Moving to the reception table, I sat on the sofa facing Rosemary as a servant stationed at the North Tower brought a teapot and cups.

“Shall we get to the main topic? Regarding the Seal… the information seems to be concealed. Not just hidden, but many descriptions have been erased, making progress quite difficult.”

“If they recorded the Seal’s contents in detail, it would defeat the purpose. They’d naturally hide things they don’t want passed down to future generations.”

When I said this, Rosemary let out a languid sigh.

“Well, I suppose that’s to be expected. But I have learned a few things.”

“Such as?”

“As I mentioned last time, there are four pairs of Orbs. The Orb in Termwills was created to gather the power of Spirits and maintain the Sealed Door. The paired Orb seems to be… for binding the sealed object itself.”

So it’s a double Seal system. The door and the object itself.

An Orb that gathers Spirit power, and an Orb that emits Miasma…

“…What if the Orbs’ properties are opposites?”

“What do you mean?”

“Since the Orbs are paired. For example, an Orb that gathers positive power and an Orb that diffuses Negative Power… By magically linking them, they could reinforce each other’s properties and the Seal.”

“…That’s interesting. I was wondering why they’d leave behind the sealing Orbs. If they’re paired to magically reinforce each other, then having only one side would be useless. It makes sense if even Demons couldn’t destroy them by hand.”

Additionally… these Orbs were designed from the start with exposure to Miasma in mind. They probably have high Resistance to Miasma.

But what if these Orbs were deliberately given to the human side?

In that case, an Orb that emits Miasma would likely be considered ominous and targeted for destruction. If they succeeded… that would be a bonus for them.

“But if that’s correct, then where is the Miasma coming from in the Orb the Demon brought?”

“Probably from the sealed object itself.”

Meaning from something inside the Moonlight Temple.

“Then… there’s a possibility it’s a powerful Demon.”

Rosemary said with closed eyes.

In BFO, they said it was “taken from the Moonlight Temple,” didn’t they? It’s possible they confined a Demon in the form of some object or inside a Cursed Tool.

“I don’t have any other ideas about things that emit Miasma either.”

“…Let’s proceed with deciphering the Ancient Documents based on that hypothesis. We might unexpectedly find various things matching up and making progress.”

“Right. Also… this isn’t related to the Labyrinth, but there’s one thing I wanted to ask.”

“What is it?”

“Do you know of any particularly effective stomach medicine?”

At my words, Rosemary blinked with a puzzled expression.
