Chapter 316 – Towards the Construction of the Airship

With the terrain cutting completed, I reactivated the Huge Golems that had become mere rock masses and created stone pavement for the plaza area, along with walls and gates surrounding the facilities. Furthermore, I began reshaping them into building materials for walls connecting to Termwills’ outer walls.

Wall building materials – I had the Huge Golems stack massive stones, structurally reinforced them to prevent collapse, then disassembled them from Huge Golems into regular Golems, transforming them into stone pavement to lay out.

“Hey… Can Golems really disperse and reconfigure at that speed?”

“Don’t be stupid. That thing’s a monster. While controlling the Huge Golem… it’s disassembling the extremities into regular Golems. Then, it’s taking those Golems one by one, disassembling them again, and reconfiguring them… directly into stone pavement. It’s having idle Golems share the work – impossible.”

Some of the knights and Mage Corps members assigned to perimeter security had become spectators. They were muttering such words while watching our work. I could feel the fishermen’s gazes from the harbor too… but I continued working without paying them mind. Once one Huge Golem’s disassembly and building material rearrangement was complete, I moved the next Huge Golem… and so on, progressing steadily.

After finishing the plaza and outer walls came the buildings. I hollowed out the interior of the towering rock remaining in the plaza to create an entrance hall, workshop, dining hall, break room, temporary sleeping quarters, storage, plus baths, toilets, and so on.

“Should we keep this pillar here?”

“Yeah. Since the room is spacious, it’s better not to remove this support.”

“Then I’ll reinforce it.”

While creating spaces considering each room’s purpose, I consulted with Seraphina to erect pillars and reinforce structures. I extended the top floor vertically so it could serve as a control tower.

Currently, since there’s no decoration or interior work, it gives a somewhat rugged impression… but considering it will also serve as training facilities for the anti-Demon unit, this might not be bad as it is.

I might need to work on the floors and roof a bit more. Considering measures against heat and cold, I’ll probably need to replace some building materials using Wood Magic or similar methods… but that can be done slowly later.

Next. The sea area facing the harbor side. I created a pathway along the edge several steps lower than the plaza height. It’s at a height that won’t get submerged even at high tide.

“Does this area of the sea become a fishing ground?”

After reaching that point, I asked the fishermen who were watching the work with stunned expressions about the underwater area. I had asked the Knight Order to bring fishermen willing to cooperate. By hearing opinions from several people and actually looking at the underwater area myself, I should get a general idea.

“…Eh – Ah, ah, no. That area just has depth, you see. Can’t really call it a good fishing ground. Need to go out a bit further.”

“Hmm. Since stones sometimes fall from the cliff. It’s dangerous below, so nobody approaches. Some are actually relieved it’s gone.”

“Is that so? I was thinking of considering other methods if there were reefs… but it seems fine as is.”

I’d heard that reefs become good fishing grounds since fish gather there. I didn’t really want to touch the underwater area, and if necessary, I was considering building a pool within the premises… but it seems there won’t be any problems.

Just to be sure, I should see the underwater area with my own eyes. Wrapping myself in a bubble Shield and lighting a magical lamp, I dove into the sea. From within the water, I checked the seabed terrain. I reinforced areas that seemed unstable.

Hmm… Seems exactly as the fishermen said.

By extending a pier from the edge and installing guide lights there, nighttime takeoffs and landings should become possible.

When I surfaced, I made eye contact with the fishermen who had been peering into the sea wondering what happened to me since I hadn’t come up. I spoke to the astonished fishermen again.

“Then, if this facility causes any issues with fishing catches or ship operations, please report it. I think we can handle it to some extent.”

“U-Understood.”

The fisherman answered with a strained smile.

Continuing work in that manner, taking breaks and receiving lunch provisions from the Knight Order along the way, by the time the sunset dyed the surroundings red, most of the construction was complete. I stacked leftover materials into Blocks. They could be reused when needed.

I looked around. The sight of stone pavement laid out regularly across the plaza. Quite spectacular indeed.

While checking the work results after completing the task, the airship descended in altitude and everyone came down to the plaza.

“Well done. My, my. To finish it in less than a day.”

King Melvin, who had disembarked from the airship, said while looking around.

“It progressed better than expected. We had recovery Magic and Potions prepared too. We had Cursed Melodies played during each break. However, the interior details like building insides aren’t finished yet.”

“Hmm. Then let us prepare the interior furnishings and furniture.”

“Thank you.”

When I answered, King Melvin nodded with satisfaction.

“You showed us something wonderful. Amazing precision… both the stone pavement and walls, you couldn’t slip a sheet of paper between them.”

“It was magnificent. Every time the giant Golem stood up, the terrain was carved away.”

Princess Stephania and Princess Adriana touched the outer walls to verify their quality, looking delighted.

“Haaaah… I feel like I’ve witnessed your true capabilities, sensei.”

“Truly, though he’s my grandson, he’s something unbelievable.”

“Fu, fufu… I feel like common sense is being destroyed.”

Charlotte looked like her soul had left her body. Old Sigmund wore a dry smile while Valentina had a distant look in her eyes.

“So we’ll be training using this as our base. Since we’ll be coordinating with the magician who built this, the unit members’ morale should rise too. Most reassuring.”

Elliot was also squinting while gazing at the buildings.

“Theo, good work. Seraphina, it must have been tough working for so long.”

“I had fun.”

“I’m glad you’re unharmed.”

“Yeah. Keeping the Magic Circle deployed the whole time made my shoulders a bit stiff.”

Grace and Ashley smiled while offering their appreciation. Seraphina still seemed energetic enough to fly around.

“In that case, shall I massage your shoulders later?”

Claudia said that, exchanging smiles with Marlene. Come to think of it, Claudia and Marlene were in the living room today.

“Mm. Then I’ll take you up on that later.”

“Yes, leave it to me.”

“…As for me, seeing a Huge Golem after so long reminded me of what’s in the books.”

Rosemary, hiding her mouth with a feather fan, glanced around. Whether she was laughing or surprised, since she was hiding her expression, it was somewhat hard to tell.

“Well, the Golem’s form was different back then though.”

“That’s true.”

Saying that with a small laugh, Rosemary looked up at the wall.

“Good work, Theodore-kun.”

“Yeah. Thank you.”

Irmhild smiled while Sheila gave a silent thumbs-up. I thanked them and returned Sheila’s thumbs-up.

“Good work, Theo-kun. You mentioned attaching guide lights so ships can land at night, right?”

“That’s the plan. Well, I think we can handle that gradually. Alfred has other work too anyway.”

After exchanging words with everyone, starting with my conversation with Alfred, we shifted back to discussing the shipyard’s future.

“Hmm. Then, shall we have the airship materials prepared at the Royal Castle transported here?”

“Yes. We’ve secured sufficient space, and since it’s inside the walls, it won’t attract much attention, so we should be able to start airship construction without issues. Are the materials ready?”

“Most of what’s needed has been prepared.”

Saying that, King Melvin nodded. His work really is fast.

“Then I think we can start on the framework and exterior.”

“To prevent material theft, we’ll assign security and patrols to this facility. You may proceed with airship construction as you see fit.”

“Thank you.”

“Regarding security, I believe my Dolls could be stationed here as well.”

“Oh? Then using both soldiers and Dolls should work well.”

Rosemary’s simple Dolls, huh. Since they can keep watch tirelessly, having them stationed here would indeed be reassuring.

Next is collecting Magic Stones at the Blazing Fortress. Hmm… It might be about time, or perhaps I should visit the full moon Labyrinth once. For Magic Stone collection purposes, there’s no place more efficient than that location.

According to Claudia, even without waiting for the full moon, if we go through the entrance monument, we can be taken there. In any case, it’s a place we must conquer to reach the deepest part.
