Chapter 146: Point and Hit
Chapter 146: Point and Hit
The soldiers at the edges of the army managed to survive, but they all suffered varying degrees of impact injuries and burns from the intense heat. Only a circular area at the epicenter of the explosion remained completely unscathed, with even the ground still covered in lush green grass.
Such a terrifying direct hit from a meteorite—even with the Lord Divine Tree’s Domain enhancement, Xiong Batian herself couldn’t have emerged unharmed. Both of them thought of the identity of the Hero. Truly, a human chosen by the Deities could withstand an attack of this magnitude.
“Xiao Ai, let’s do it again.” Xiong Er tugged at Xiao Ai’s arm, pleading incessantly.
“Given the current number of enemies, this type of magic isn’t suitable.” As the System, while Xiao Ai occasionally indulged Xiong Er’s requests, she couldn’t deplete her master’s energy just to satisfy Xiong Er’s whims.
Moreover, the barriers that appeared on the ground were too bizarre. They didn’t seem prepared in advance or released by a Magic Artifact—more like they had suddenly manifested, as if generated using ‘World.’ But ‘World’ was a Unique Skill; it was impossible for another ‘World’ Skill to exist in this world.
The Forest Elves on the city walls weren’t idle either, directly casting various Magic Attacks at the fleeing humans below.
Lin Xiaobai himself was dumbfounded. Wasn’t it agreed that his life would be spared? Why were they acting so recklessly? He hadn’t even found a chance to escape yet! If he hadn’t borrowed the power of the Church’s True God, that massive meteorite would have smashed directly onto him—even if he didn’t die, he’d be crippled!
The barriers in the sky began to slowly disintegrate, revealing the scene outside. Apart from the small patch of land protected by his barrier, the area looked like hell itself, devoid of any trace of life.
Lin Xiaobai surveyed the battlefield. The other four Demigods had all used various life-saving methods. Mier, as expected of a Transcendent Demigod, seemed completely unscathed—he must have successfully evaded the damage. The other two Demigods weren’t so fortunate.
One was covered in bloody wounds, his Purple Quality armor reduced to ashes. The other Demigod, who had advanced from a Shield Warrior, was now covered in burns and fared little better. Rui Jielude was luckier, having just managed to take shelter within Lin Xiaobai’s barrier.
Mier wasn’t dead. Lin Xiaobai sighed.
Taking advantage of the moment when everyone was still reeling from the meteorite assault, Lin Xiaobai quickly fled into the Magic Mirror.
Lin Xiaobai: “Stop fighting! I’m still in the middle of the battlefield! At the northernmost edge of the battlefield is the Transcendent Demigod powerhouse, Mier. Take him out, and this army will scatter!”
Lin Xiaobai didn’t wait to check the Magic Mirror’s reply, hastily stuffing it into his pocket. During this journey, Lin Xiaobai had felt uneasy, not daring to take out the Magic Mirror to communicate with his Classmate. To put it nicely, it was colluding with the enemy; to put it bluntly, his actions amounted to betraying humanity, betraying the Church, and betraying the True God.
However, Lin Xiaobai wasn’t even sure if the Church truly had a True God. Although as the Hero he could borrow the power of the Deities, and the Church prayed for the Deities to grant Believers Blessings, no one had ever seen a Deity, nor did they know the True God’s name. Human society held no verifiable stories about the True God.
If the Church truly had a True God, Lin Xiaobai wouldn’t dare betray them even with ten times the courage. But as the Hero, Lin Xiaobai always felt that the Church’s True God simply didn’t exist. Yet, the fact that he could borrow the power of a Deity was strange—where did this power come from? Lin Xiaobai had no idea.
However, he was certain that the True God would not punish him, which was why Lin Xiaobai dared to attempt betraying this despicable Church.
Xiong Da looked down at the panicked Human Soldiers below and picked up a massive loudspeaker.
“You now have two choices: first, be mercilessly killed by us; second, lay down your weapons and surrender, becoming my Soldiers.” The earlier attack had killed tens of thousands of Humans, providing a significant amount of Spiritual Power and Skill Points. The Demigods present could absorb a portion, which was already enough for Xiong Da’s Special Skill to advance.
“Dammit, we’ve been tricked,” Mier quickly assessed the situation. The Hero was unharmed, and not a single Demigod combatant had been lost. Two Demigods were injured—one severely, one lightly.
Their side was already showing signs of defeat, but the enemy hadn’t continued casting the earlier Magic. A spell of that level likely couldn’t be cast a second time. Demanding their surrender was probably just intimidation. Although their side had suffered heavy losses, their key combatants were still intact. There was still a chance to turn the tide.
The Hero could borrow the power of a Deity. If another meteor Magic were cast, they could take shelter with the Hero to minimize the damage.
Now that they had a countermeasure for the enemy’s most powerful Magic, victory was entirely possible. With five Demigods joining forces, there was no need to fear any enemy.
“Everyone, listen up! Anyone who dares surrender will be executed! All of you, charge!” Mier shouted the command to those around him. He wasn’t idle either, gathering Magic Power into the longsword in his hand. He intended to take down Xiong Er, who had just stood on the city wall casting the meteor Magic. Although the Maiden appeared weak, any Mage capable of casting such Magic had to be eliminated first.
Mier took a swift step and leaped into the air, charging straight toward the top of the city wall.
Xiong Da had just checked the information in the Magic Mirror group and said to Xiong Batian:
“It’s him, Mom. Just deal with this one.”
Xiong Batian nodded. She had come here to help her son, ready to strike wherever pointed.
This time, Xiong Batian had no intention of relying on Lord Divine Tree’s Domain power. She could feel she was just one step away from crossing the threshold to level 70, Transcendent Demigod, and just needed someone of equal strength to spar with.
A massive Spiked Club instantly appeared on the city wall, smashing Mier back down as he flew up, just like hitting a mole in a game. Xiong Batian didn’t give Mier a chance to catch his breath, leaping off the wall and diving straight toward him.
Liya drew her bow and aimed directly at the severely burned Demigod. He was gravely injured, with many internal organs charred by the intense heat. If not for a high-quality piece of armor keeping him alive, he would likely have turned to ash.
Looking at the seemingly ordinary arrow before him, he couldn’t be bothered to dodge. An arrow moving at that speed couldn’t possibly harm his body—not even in his severely wounded state.
An arrow that appeared utterly ordinary struck the Demigod directly in the abdomen. The arrow seemed unremarkable, not even leaving a wound on the Demigod’s body, yet his gaze gradually dimmed. His flesh still retained its Life Force, but his Soul had already been pierced through by the arrow.
Rui Jielude could clearly sense that his colleague’s Soul was gradually dissipating. By the time he realized what was happening, the Demigod had already died just like that. These deadly arrows did not cease, instead turning their aim toward him and another Shield Warrior Demigod, showing no signs of stopping.
Rui Jielude had no choice but to dodge, as did the Shield Warrior Demigod. He dared not even block the arrows with his shield, unable to comprehend what was happening—it was simply too bizarre.
