Chapter 32: Trading IDs
Chapter 32: Trading IDs
“Calm down, I mean no harm!”
Zhai Guangyi set down the fan comic in his hand and waved at Xiong Er, who was now crackling with lightning all over, looking like a cat with its fur standing on end, as if ready to pounce and tear into him at any moment.
“Who exactly are you?”
Actually, Xiong Da used to call her Chen Dabai often, but after the Divine Tree named her Xiong Er, Xiong Da never called her Chen Dabai again. The only one here who would call her that was Xiong Da.
But Xiong Da had already left this place, and according to what Xiong Batian and the others said, this Elf was just recently born by the Lord Divine Tree. There was no reason for her to know her previous life’s name.
Either something had happened to Xiong Da, or for some other reason, this Elf had been watching her for a long time, observing her all along. Or perhaps she was also from the Otherworld and had some way of knowing her identity.
“Uh… I’m not sure if you’re the Chen Dabai I know. My name is Zhai Guangyi.”
“Zhai Guangyi?”
“Yes.”
Zhai Guangyi straightforwardly gave his name. In truth, he was also a bit worried. If this secret was known by someone else, what if she just happened to share the same name as his buddy? What if all of this was just a coincidence?
But he really wanted someone to talk to. In the half-year since becoming a tree, he had been so lonely. Watching Xiong Da and Xiong Er often chatting and laughing in their daily lives, he was truly envious.
So he decided to take a bit of risk and confirm identities with Xiong Er.
“I don’t believe you. Who are you really?”
Xiong Er still hadn’t let down her guard. The lightning swirling around her seemed ready to attack Zhai Guangyi at any moment, wildly sparking in the air.
In Xiong Er’s memories, she remembered Xiong Da mentioning Zhai Guangyi’s name while joking with her. There was a possibility someone might have overheard it back then. In this Forest, she had also encountered some strange Magic and Magical Beasts, which made her have to be cautious. Moreover, her Previous Life was one of her most important secrets.
Zhai Guangyi was somewhat speechless. When had Xiong Er become so rigid? How did Xiong Da and Xiong Er confirm each other’s identities? Was it as awkward as this?
“We were High School Classmates.”
“Then what was your game ID?”
Zhai Guangyi hesitated for a moment but still chose to answer truthfully.
“Sakurajima Mai Online Sniping. And what was your game ID?”
“Shenli Linghua’s Dog Must Be Mine.”
The two looked at each other. Bros!
Compared to giving real names, sharing online handles was even more likely to cause social embarrassment. Zhai Guangyi had taken a big risk by saying it. If she really was his buddy Chen Dabai, she would definitely be familiar with this handle—couldn’t be more familiar. If she wasn’t Chen Dabai, then Zhai Guangyi would just have to bear the embarrassment himself.
Xiong Er finally let down her guard, walked over, and sat down beside Zhai Guangyi, letting out a long sigh.
“I never thought you’d come here too.”
“I never thought you’d turn into a girl, and a pretty good-looking one at that. If we were back in High School, you definitely wouldn’t lack boyfriends looking like this.”
“You’re the one who wouldn’t lack boyfriends! You have the nerve to call me ‘old man’—you’re a girl yourself now! I guess we’re just a pair of unfortunate brothers! Sigh.”
Zhai Guangyi pulled open his wide collar to take a look inside, once again confirming whether his “brother” was still there, then looked at Xiong Er with a strange grin.
“No, my brother’s still here, I’m still a real man! Your eyesight must be bad, tsk tsk.”
Xiong Er stared at Zhai Guangyi’s face with disbelief, her eyes wide as she kept examining his appearance, then reached out to lift the bottom of Zhai Guangyi’s robe.
Staring incredulously at that extra thing he had compared to her, she couldn’t accept it. She slid straight off the bed and knelt on the floor, feeling as if this World was deceiving and toying with her.
“Hey, don’t take it so hard. At least now, as a girl…”
Zhai Guangyi also got down and walked over to Xiong Er, patting her shoulder with a mature tone. He paused for two seconds after speaking halfway. Xiong Er looked up, puzzled, wanting to hear what he was about to say.
Then Zhai Guangyi’s tone changed, and he looked at her with a mocking expression, speaking cheerfully.
“You look much better than when you cross-dressed before, hahaha.”
“I’ll kill you! We agreed not to bring that up again!”
In her agitation, Xiong Er stood up and knocked over Zhai Guangyi, who was clutching his stomach and laughing at her. Zhai Guangyi hadn’t expected Xiong Er to be so strong, nor had he realized how weak he was now. He rolled twice on the floor and even bit his tongue.
Xiong Er also hadn’t expected that a light push would send Zhai Guangyi tumbling to the ground, looking so feeble.
“You just arrived in this World, so you must still be weak. I advise you not to act so arrogantly in front of me. Your dad here is almost level 30 now, and there aren’t many around who can beat me.”
Xiong Er hurried over to help Zhai Guangyi up. Though they joked around, she didn’t dare risk her friend’s life. As the Senior who Transmigrated first, she felt she should take care of her good buddy and “big son.”
Zhai Guangyi’s Magic Power had also recovered quite a bit. He had been so focused on confirming identities with Xiong Er that he forgot to cast a healing spell on himself. Although healing spells could restore his Life Value, his weak Body Attributes unmistakably spoke of how frail this body was.
“That hurt like hell, you bastard. How can a girl be so rough, acting just like a man?”
Zhai Guangyi continued joking with a smile. Xiong Er knew he was fine and didn’t bother bantering with him.
“Hey, I never thought you’d look so much like a girl but still be a guy. Damn it, after turning into a girl, even Xiaoxiao ran off. Did you know He Xiaoxiao became a man? I really can’t accept it.”
Zhai Guangyi stopped teasing her and fell silent for a moment before speaking.
“You always wanted to come to an Otherworld, didn’t you? Now that you’ve gotten your wish, some things are bound to change, and some things will be lost. At least we can still meet again.”
“You’re right, let’s not talk about this anymore. How did you recognize me?”
“Oh, that? I was hanging from a tree and overheard you and He Xiaoxiao talking. I just guessed, and then confirmed with you. Never thought our game IDs would save us so much trouble.”
Xiong Er recalled that the fruit had indeed been hanging on the Divine Tree for over a month. She often chatted with Xiong Da about the past, never imagining that her good brother had been watching from the tree all along. She suddenly felt a bit awkward.
“Ahem, since you’ve just arrived here, let me share some knowledge I’ve gathered about the Otherworld. It should help you quite a bit. As your Senior, you should humbly accept your father’s goodwill.”
Zhai Guangyi thought it made sense. He didn’t really understand Xiong Er’s way of life or how to survive in this World. After all, he used to be just a tree and never had to worry about such things.
“Alright, go ahead.”
