Chapter 76: Warhorse Goblin
Chapter 76: Warhorse Goblin
But for now, the priority was to rescue those Forest Elves first. As long as he could maintain prolonged contact with them, Zhai Guangyi could also have the System control the Teleportation Magic to send them back.
When Lvqi saw Zhai Guangyi and the others approaching, his eyes lit up as if he had spotted a treasure, revealing a deeply unsettling smile.
“I’m glad you’ve come as promised.”
The hoarse, aged voice of Lvqi reached Zhai Guangyi’s ears, sounding familiar—as if he had heard it somewhere before.
It seemed quite similar to the voice from the Magic Mirror in Shabi’s possession, but Zhai Guangyi couldn’t be entirely sure. Resisting the Black Flame transmitted through the Magic Mirror had drained a great deal of his energy. If the Magic Mirror hadn’t been unable to withstand the strain and shattered, Zhai Guangyi might not have been able to kill Shabi. No, it should be credited to the System. So, the one casting spells behind the Magic Mirror was very likely this fellow named Lvqi.
Zhai Guangyi directly exchanged for a one-time-use Teleportation Artifact from the System Shop, gripping it tightly in his palm. If anything went wrong, he would immediately Teleport away with Xiong Da and Xiong Batian.
“I’ve always kept my word. As long as you can help us rescue the Forest Elves trapped in Banwang City unharmed, I agree to join you. That was the agreement, right?”
Zhai Guangyi reconfirmed with Hong Ren while signaling Xiong Da and Xiong Batian to dismount from the Storm Holy Wolves, allowing the wolves to return to their True Body.
After all, the one-time-use Teleportation Magic Artifact could only Teleport three people. If something went wrong, there would be no way to bring these three “huskies” along.
“Of course. Whether it’s money or manpower, our Demon King’s Army will provide sufficient assistance. Even wiping out the entire Banwang City wouldn’t be a problem.”
Hong Ren placed his hand on the hilt of the sword at his waist, his eyes fixed intently on Xiong Batian.
Although this Demon Human’s muscles weren’t particularly developed, Hong Ren could sense the power contained within her body—it definitely wouldn’t be weaker than his own.
Moreover, the strange rod in her hand was covered in sharp spikes. This type of metal was extremely rare and likely quite heavy, yet in her hands, it felt as light as a small wooden stick.
This level of strength should belong to a powerhouse who has entered the Demigod realm. To think such a powerful Demon Human was living in the outer reaches of the Forest—was it because of that Spirit King Tree?
The Demon King speculated that it was a contingency left behind by the Elven Divine Tree. It probably wasn’t the True Body of the Elven Divine Tree, but it likely possessed a trace of divinity.
That’s why they were advised to approach with caution, or better yet, not to approach at all. It seemed this was indeed the right call. A being supported by a Demigod was truly no simple matter.
When they left the northern mountains to come here, the two of them deliberately avoided the Spirit King Tree’s sphere of influence, mainly due to the Demon King’s warning. Neither of them dared to approach that area, wanting to avoid any losses.
After all, cultivating every Demigod Powerhouse required a massive investment of resources. Even a powerful Demon King would feel the pain of losing a Demigod.
Especially if the loss occurred within another faction’s territory, recovering the Magic Crystal would be utterly impossible. The faction referred to here isn’t the Spirit King Tree’s influence, but rather the Dragonkin, the masters of the Mesopotamia Forest. That’s why they had to be extra cautious here—generally, Demigods wouldn’t approach this area.
“There’s no need to wipe out Banwang City. Just help me spend some money to ransom the Forest Elves back.”
Better not wipe them out—Zhai Guangyi still wanted to see if he could develop some human influence. Mark and the others had come to investigate earlier and expressed willingness to cooperate with Xiong Batian. These could be developed into Followers, so if peaceful talks were possible, they should go that route. There was no need for unnecessary bloodshed.
As for the money issue, Zhai Guangyi had considered trading White Quality equipment through the market from the start.
But that would take too much time. Both transportation costs and transaction time would require significant effort to manage, and it wouldn’t immediately turn into usable cash. Just because you were willing to sell didn’t mean someone was willing to buy.
The market share in each city was limited. Having goods in hand required good sales channels, competition with others, and building a reputable brand. Turning it into usable cash right away was clearly unrealistic.
Still, Zhai Guangyi planned to move in that direction. Once the Forest Elf matter was settled, he could ask Xiong Da to break into the human equipment market. Xiong Da loved mingling in lively human environments and had even said he was fond of money—probably a bad habit from before his Transmigration.
Who didn’t like money back then? According to Chen Dabai, He Xiaoxiao had gone into online sales after graduation. This had left Xiong Da with a strong desire for money. Zhai Guangyi wasn’t so vulgar—all he wanted now was people. He even coveted every creature that wasn’t his Follower.
“That works too. We don’t want to stir up trouble everywhere.”
Lvqi nodded. Humans and the Demon King had been in a long-term state of war. Destroying one more human City-State wouldn’t be a big issue, but humans were highly vengeful. A Demigod might even chase them out from the imperial capital, which would be very troublesome.
The human Hero had just led troops to the gates of Demon King City, and Lvqi didn’t want to cause any complications at this time.
In truth, human forces were very powerful, but they were also highly disunited. They were split into many nations that rarely helped each other and often fought among themselves. Lvqi thought it was a miracle such a species could exist in such large numbers on the continent.
The country to which Banwang City belonged wasn’t aligned with the same faction as the Hero, which was why Lvqi didn’t want to invite extra trouble. After all, even with his thousand years of experience, he had to admit that the combined strength of humans was terrifying.
Lvqi raised his hand and snapped his fingers. Instantly, a huge Magic Circle appeared on the ground, forming with astonishing speed—faster than any Magic Zhai Guangyi had ever seen. It took only about a second for the Magic Circle to complete.
Zhai Guangyi gripped the Teleportation Artifact in his hand, keeping a close watch on Lvqi’s movements, while Xiong Batian also drew her Spiked Club.
“Don’t be nervous.”
Black flames ignited on the Magic Circle, and from within emerged a massive, ornate carriage. Pulling it were two green monsters—their bodies were four-legged horses, but they were unmistakably Giant Goblins.
Race: Warhorse Goblin (Nameless)
Level: 20
Life Value: 200
Magic Power: 0
Strength: 450
Defense: 6
Speed: 780
Another strange goblin, its overall attributes are also very lopsided, but its speed and strength are both at a decent level. However, this horse looks absolutely disgusting. Who knows how goblins produce so many varieties—do they even have reproductive barriers?
Lvqi opened the carriage door and slowly stepped inside, while Hong Ren stood in front of the carriage, gesturing for them to enter.
Zhai Guangyi and Xiong Da glanced at the Warhorse Goblin with some disdain, but seeing that the interior of the carriage appeared quite tidy, Zhai Guangyi gritted his teeth and flew straight in. Xiong Batian, shielding Xiong Da, followed closely behind.
Hong Ren was the last to board the carriage. The Warhorse Goblin would run on its own, requiring no one to steer it.
