Chapter 31 – The Fatui Harbinger: The Doctor

Chapter 31 – The Fatui Harbinger: The Doctor

At this moment, Xiangling widened her eyes and covered her mouth.

Guoba also stared wide-eyed at Qiu Bai, both shocked by his actions.

With just a casual point, three Geo Lawachurls turned into black specks of light and vanished into thin air?

And that strange white light—how could it restore scorched grass back to its vibrant, lively state?

“Mr. Qiu Bai, you’re truly amazing!”

“Thank you, Mr. Qiu Bai.”

Xiangling was still stunned by Qiu Bai’s earlier display before finally snapping back to reality and expressing her gratitude to him.

“No need to be polite. I was just wandering around here.”

“I didn’t expect to run into Xiangling here, and to find you surrounded by monsters.”

Qiu Bai turned around and smiled at Xiangling, then glanced down at Guoba, who was still in shock at his feet.

“It seems my little trick has left you stunned too.”

Qiu Bai chuckled softly as he looked at Guoba.

He had to admit, his showmanship was quite successful.

“Hehe, I originally came out to look for ingredients.”

“I wanted to try out my newly researched dish, but I ended up running into three Geo Lawachurls.”

“Thanks to Mr. Qiu Bai stepping in, I might not have been able to handle them on my own.”

Xiangling scratched her head and twisted her body slightly, speaking with a hint of embarrassment.

After all, she had been personally taught spear techniques by Streetward Rambler, but facing three Geo Lawachurls was still quite a challenge.

Only then did Qiu Bai notice the large backpack on Xiangling’s back, with a pot strapped to its right side.

“So, what ingredients are you looking for?”

Qiu Bai asked curiously.

“Slimes!”

“And Slimes with different Elemental Powers can add unique textures to dishes!”

“Hmm… except for Geo Slimes, because they’re just too hard.”

After a moment of thought, Xiangling excitedly explained to Qiu Bai, emphasizing that Geo Slimes were inedible.

Upon hearing this, Qiu Bai’s mouth twitched involuntarily.

“How about you come with me, Mr. Qiu Bai!”

“You can try my freshly cooked dish when we’re done!”

Xiangling’s face lit up with excitement as she stared intently at Qiu Bai.

Guoba had also snapped out of its daze by now and walked over to Qiu Bai’s feet.

“Lu lu lu~ (^▽^)”

“Alright, alright, I’ll go with you!”

Qiu Bai quickly waved his hands and took a few steps back.

Faced with Xiangling’s passionate gaze, who could refuse such an enthusiastic young girl?

After all, he had a Divine Body—he should be able to handle this strange dish, right?

Maybe it would even taste good?

“Then let’s set off, Mr. Qiu Bai!”

Xiangling said happily upon hearing his agreement. She then sheathed her Dragon’s Bane and set off to search for Slimes.

Qiu Bai followed behind Xiangling, while Guoba happily bounced ahead toward her.

“Go sniff out the scent of monsters, Guoba!”

“Don’t end up finding three Geo Lawachurls again like last time!”

Xiangling looked down at Guoba and spoke sternly.

“Lu… o(╥﹏╥)o”

Guoba looked up at Xiangling with a pitiful expression.

Seeing Guoba like this, Xiangling’s heart softened.

“Alright, Guoba, I won’t blame you. Once you find the Slimes,”

“I’ll make you some delicious Jueyun Guoba when we get back!”

Xiangling crouched down and patted Guoba’s head to comfort it.

“Lu lu lu!”

Guoba immediately looked at Xiangling with a delighted expression, then hopped and skipped to the front of Xiangling.

Seeing Guoba so energized, it seemed Xiangling’s words had taken effect.

“Mr. Qiu Bai, let’s hurry and follow Guoba!”

Xiangling quickly turned to Qiu Bai and said, then promptly chased after Guoba.

Qiu Bai’s mouth twitched.

“A puppy?”

He hadn’t expected Marcus, with his diminished intellect, to become like this. But perhaps it wasn’t a bad thing for it.

Lost in thought, Qiu Bai watched Xiangling and Guoba running far ahead and then hurried to catch up.

After some searching, they finally found several Hydro Slimes and Cryo Slimes by a riverbank.

“Found them! Guoba is amazing.”

“Now it’s my turn!”

With that, Xiangling ran toward the Slimes in front of her.

“Take this!”

“Witness my master’s spear technique!”

Qiu Bai watched Xiangling fighting the Slimes, his mouth twitching again.

“Is this a Vaporize reaction?”

“Mr. Qiu Bai! I’m back.”

Before Qiu Bai could gather his thoughts.

Xiangling ran up to Qiu Bai, holding a piece of Hydro Slime remains in her hand.

“Guoba, let’s go find the next target!”

After searching in several places, Xiangling finally gathered the remains of Slimes from all six elements in her hands.

Of course, there were times along the way when Guoba got it wrong.

For example, once, Guoba actually found a huge, burning tree that could even attack people!

If not for Qiu Bai, Xiangling might have been in serious trouble because of Guoba. Moreover, Xiangling had an extremely bold idea.

She actually wanted to pluck a leaf from the Pyro Regisvine to see if it was edible!

If Qiu Bai hadn’t pulled her back, who knows what might have happened.

Of course, “what might have happened” here refers to the Pyro Regisvine, otherwise it would have been smashed to pieces by Qiu Bai’s fist.

Qiu Bai would have shown it what “Pyro” Regisvine truly meant.

“That wasn’t easy. Thank you so much, Mr. Qiu Bai.”

“Next, it’s time to test the new dish!”

Xiangling randomly found a campsite in the wild, picked up the backpack she always carried on her back, and slowly opened it to reveal various ingredients and seasonings.

“She really came prepared.”

Qiu Bai thought with some surprise as he watched Xiangling take out the ingredients and seasonings from her backpack.

Then Xiangling placed the pot over the firewood.

“Guoba! Spit fire.”

“Lu lu lu!”

With a burst of fire from Guoba, the firewood ignited.

Xiangling then turned to Qiu Bai and said somewhat sheepishly, “Mr. Qiu Bai, could you please fetch some water?”

After such a long journey, it was already evening.

“Sure, leave it to me.”

Qiu Bai smiled at Xiangling as he spoke, and Xiangling handed him a container for fetching water.

“Thank you, Mr. Qiu Bai!”

Qiu Bai took the container and walked toward the distant riverbank. As soon as he reached the river, he sensed something strange.

“Hmm? This is…”

“Interesting.”

Qiu Bai seemed to perceive something with his Divine Sense, then wore a faint smile on his lips.

Because he had discovered a big rat.

“The Second of the Fatui Harbingers.”

“The Doctor.”

“Why would he appear here? Is it because of me?”

Qiu Bai hadn’t expected The Doctor to appear in Liyue, but he had no intention of interfering.

Although three of the Fatui Harbingers had gathered in Liyue, it was still not enough to affect his and Morax’s plans.

Unless he harmed the people of Liyue—the thought made Qiu Bai’s gaze turn icy cold.

If that were the case, he would have no choice but to show no mercy.

At that moment, The Doctor, still on another mountain peak, felt an immense chill.
