Chapter 64 – The Retired Adeptus Lord and Rex Lapis
Chapter 64 – The Retired Adeptus Lord and Rex Lapis
“Ding!”
“The host has obtained a pair of stockings condensed from the Law of Yin-Yang!”
The system’s voice echoed in Qiu Xue’s mind.
Hearing this, Qiu Xue twitched the corner of her mouth, never expecting that the combined name would be so casual. She then opened the description of the stockings.
Before her eyes was a pair of gradient-colored stockings, with golden patterns winding around both sides. The bottom was black, gradually fading to white as it went upward.
Description: Stockings condensed from the Law of Yin-Yang, nourishing Divine Power and the soul through the complementary balance of Yin and Yang.
“They look quite nice.”
“Let’s try them on.”
With a thought, the white stockings on Qiu Xue’s legs transformed into the black-and-white gradient stockings.
She felt a warmth on her legs, as if soaking in hot water.
“This feeling…”
“These stockings are nourishing my Divine Power and soul.”
After sensing the comfort on her legs, Qiu Xue turned her beautiful eyes toward Lumine and Paimon.
At that moment, Lumine and Paimon were still arguing.
“Traveler, how could you do this?”
Paimon placed her hands on her hips, frowning as she looked at Lumine.
“Hahaha, Paimon’s going to get spanked.”
Lumine placed her hands on her hips, smirking as she looked at Paimon.
“Alright, alright, Paimon, let’s go out and take a look.”
“I won’t tease you anymore.”
Lumine patted Paimon’s head.
“Hmph, Paimon wants to eat something delicious.”
“Otherwise, Paimon’s anger won’t go away all day.”
Paimon placed her hands on her hips, closed her eyes, and turned her head away with a proud expression.
Watching Lumine and Paimon arguing, Qiu Xue covered her mouth and chuckled softly, then gracefully walked toward the two.
“Alright, little Paimon, and Lumine.”
Qiu Xue patted both of their heads, then turned her beautiful eyes toward Paimon beside her.
“Big sister was just teasing you earlier, little Paimon.”
“But you mustn’t say bad things about me outside anymore.”
Qiu Xue looked at Paimon floating in the air and smiled.
“Yay!”
“Sister Qiu Xue is the best, um… Brother Qiu Bai is great too!”
Paimon clapped her hands, then smiled at Qiu Xue in front of her.
“Alright, let’s go, Paimon.”
“Goodbye, Zhongli, Sister Qiu Xue.”
Lumine waved her hand behind her and walked out of the Northland Bank with Paimon.
Qiu Xue turned around and looked at Zhongli with her beautiful eyes.
“Morax, let’s go out for a walk too.”
Qiu Xue smiled gently.
“Hehe, that sounds wonderful.”
“With an old friend by my side, why not join me for a meal at Three Bowls Over the Hill after we’re done?”
Zhongli met Qiu Xue’s gaze and nodded with a slight smile.
Then, Qiu Xue walked out of the Northland Bank alongside Zhongli.
Just after stepping out of the Northland Bank’s entrance, Qiu Xue stopped and looked up at the blue sky.
“Now, I no longer have to hide my identity in front of the Adepti.”
Qiu Xue gazed at the blue sky, a faint smile curling at the corner of her lips as she murmured softly.
“Old friend, let’s go.”
Zhongli looked at the somewhat dazed Qiu Xue and smiled.
“Alright, Morax.”
Hearing this, Qiu Xue nodded with a light laugh.
The two walked side by side on the street, drawing the attention of passersby.
“Look, who is that beauty beside Mr. Zhongli?”
A woman dressed in Liyue attire patted the young girl beside her.
“I don’t know, but she looks like a fairy.”
“She looks a lot like that new girl at the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, Qiu Yue.”
The young girl looked at the woman beside her and spoke slowly.
“Maybe they’re sisters or something. She’s really beautiful.”
Another passerby approached from behind, looking at Qiu Xue and speaking slowly.
“There are so many beautiful women and handsome men at the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor.”
“Walking with Mr. Zhongli… could it be…”
A woman dressed in Liyue attire nearby looked toward Zhongli and Qiu Xue with a gossipy expression.
“Haha, old friend.”
“Your female form is truly eye-catching.”
Zhongli turned his head to look at the woman walking beside him and said with a smile.
At this moment, Qiu Xue had her hands resting gently on her abdomen, her beautiful eyes filled with amusement.
Her slender legs took one graceful step after another, appearing serene and gentle.
Qiu Xue’s height meant she had to tilt her head up slightly to meet Zhongli’s gaze.
“Hmm…”
“It certainly does draw attention.”
Qiu Xue pressed a finger to her lips, her eyes slightly closed as she smiled at Zhongli.
“But Morax, that puppet of yours is quite adorable.”
“Such a tiny thing—when it fell from the sky, it even stuck out its tongue.”
Qiu Xue held a finger to her mouth, glanced at Zhongli, blinked her beautiful eyes, and spoke with a hint of playfulness.
“Ahem…”
“If that form were too large, it would be unsuitable for conveying the Divine Oracle during the Rite of Descension, and it might also risk damaging the structures.”
Zhongli covered his mouth with one hand and coughed lightly, his face slightly flushed as he explained earnestly.
“Hehehe.”
Qiu Xue looked at Zhongli’s reaction, covered her mouth, and let out a soft laugh.
Teasing this old man from time to time was quite amusing.
Otherwise, seeing him maintain such a solemn expression all day long would tire her out.
After reaching the lotus pond beneath Yujing Terrace, Qiu Xue crouched down slightly and gazed at her reflection in the water.
She dipped both hands into the water, plucked a lotus flower, and brought it to her nose for a gentle sniff.
Meanwhile, Zhongli stood silently behind her, arms crossed over his chest.
“Hey, have you heard? It seems the news about Rex Lapis being assassinated might be true!”
Suddenly, a Liyue local dressed in martial attire spoke to a miner beside him.
“Of course I’ve heard. Whoever could assassinate Rex Lapis must be extraordinary.”
“Rumor has it, it was a young man from the Fatui—someone called Childe.”
The miner waved his hand as he spoke to the martial artist before him.
“The Fatui—those people are all shady. Who knows what schemes they’re plotting?”
“We should keep our voices down. What if the Fatui overhears us?”
The martial artist nervously glanced around, afraid of being overheard by the Fatui.
“Ah, why worry? Don’t we still have the Adeptus Lord?”
“I believe the Adeptus Lord will protect us.”
The miner waved his hand dismissively at the anxious martial artist.
People all around were discussing the matter.
“Our Adeptus Lord is truly incredible!”
“She slew the Demon God in the sea with a single sword strike!”
“Ah, but I heard a rumor that the Adeptus Lord has fallen into slumber again.”
Everyone nearby was talking about the Adeptus Lord and Rex Lapis.
Meanwhile, the Adeptus Lord and Rex Lapis stood by the lotus pond beneath Yujing Terrace, enjoying the scenery.
“Let’s go, Morax. Let’s take a look.”
Qiu Xue gazed at the beautiful reflection in the pond and slowly rose to her feet.
She turned her beautiful eyes toward Zhongli standing beside her and smiled.
“Mm.”
Zhongli nodded, and the two of them walked toward the entrance leading to Yujing Terrace.
A massive crowd filled the area, and standing above them was Fengyan, the Millelith instructor.
Standing among the crowd below were also Lumine and Paimon, who now turned their gazes toward Feng Yan on the stage.
“It’s Sister Qiu Xue and Zhongli!”
Paimon turned around and waved at the two behind them.
“Qiu Xue and Zhongli, are you here to watch the Rite of Parting too?”
Lumine looked curiously at the two—these two individuals.
One pretending to be asleep, the other feigning death—who would have thought Zhongli would attend his own Rite of Parting.
At this thought, Lumine twitched her lips sharply.
