Chapter 88 – The Mechanical Demon God Squid
Chapter 88 – The Mechanical Demon God Squid
After chasing for a while longer, Qiu Bai and the others spotted an Abyss Mage and a Ruin Guard.
Lumine was about to charge forward when Qiu Bai stopped her with a hand.
“Leave it to me.”
Qiu Bai smiled faintly at Lumine beside him.
Then, he pointed a finger toward the Abyss Mage and the Ruin Guard.
His finger was enveloped in a strange black aura, and he tapped rapidly through the air over a dozen times, leaving afterimages visible.
In an instant, the Ruin Guard and the Abyss Mage collapsed to the ground as if they had suddenly lost their souls and energy.
Dainsleif stared at Qiu Bai with a shocked expression.
“Yay! With Qiu Bai here, things become much simpler.”
“Let’s go check it out quickly.”
Paimon stomped her feet and flew ahead first. Qiu Bai ignored Dainsleif’s astonished gaze and walked forward as well.
Lumine also ran over, while Dainsleif snapped out of his shock and strolled over.
“Hmm… there are floating characters on the Abyss Mage’s body that I can’t understand.”
“Are they Khaenri’ah’s script?”
Paimon clasped her hands behind her back and looked at Dainsleif curiously.
“I’m reading them now…”
Dainsleif rested a hand on his chin, gazing at the Abyss Mage’s body.
“Use the faith of enemies as kindling.”
“Offer glory to the noble Prince.”
Dainsleif frowned as he silently read the words on the Abyss Mage.
“Hmm… is this the content of the letter?”
Paimon asked, somewhat puzzled.
Dainsleif ignored Paimon’s question and continued examining the fallen Abyss Mage.
“The Loom of Fate, the Prime Mover Plan.”
“They, the Abyss… seem to be executing a plan. The keyword of the plan is the Loom of Fate.”
Dainsleif turned to the three of them to explain, then shifted his gaze back to the Abyss Mage.
“It appears to still be in the activation phase.”
“Or rather, they are conducting the initial experiments.”
Dainsleif stroked his chin and spoke.
“The Loom of Fate? What is that?”
“Literally, it sounds like a machine that weaves fate?”
Paimon waved her hands, looking confused.
“Could it be related to the inverted statue?”
Lumine asked Paimon softly.
“Ah, now that you mention it, judging by the atmosphere, that eerie ruin is very likely connected to this plan.”
“So, Dainsleif, what exactly does the letter say?”
After speaking to Lumine, Paimon turned to Dainsleif, who was still deep in thought.
“I’m reading it…”
“Hmm… it’s a fanciful plan, with some parts that are hard to understand.”
Dainsleif murmured as he looked at the strange purple characters floating above the Abyss Mage.
“What is it?”
Paimon waved her hands and asked.
“In a nutshell…”
“The Abyss’s initial plan is related to the Overlord of the Vortex, Osial.”
Dainsleif explained to the three.
“The Overlord of the Vortex? That Demon God from the sea?!”
Paimon was startled.
“But wasn’t the Overlord of the Vortex already slain by Adeptus of the Two Principles with a single sword strike?”
Lumine looked at Dainsleif, somewhat puzzled.
Then she turned her gaze to Qiu Bai.
“Though come to think of it, Osial has already perished.”
“What could the Abyss possibly do with Him?”
Paimon also looked at Qiu Bai before turning back to Dainsleif.
“Perhaps they intend to use the Overlord of the Vortex’s fragmented remains.”
“Or maybe the Demon God Residue, to accomplish something.”
Dainsleif also murmured with some confusion.
“First it was the gods’ Familiars, now it’s an ancient Demon God?”
“The targets are getting bigger and bigger.”
Paimon waved her hand at Dainsleif.
“Not only are they modifying it on a conceptual level, they want to use Field Tiller technology.”
“Along with the Divine Power of that Morpheus, to completely transform Osial’s remaining limbs.”
Dainsleif stroked his chin, frowning as he spoke.
“Morpheus… Divine Power?!”
“But how could they possibly obtain that god’s Divine Power?”
Paimon stared at Dainsleif in front of her with a stunned expression, asking loudly, then turned an especially shocked gaze toward Qiu Bai.
“My Divine Power?”
“Could it be because I completely destroyed Osial, leaving them without enough power to create more mechanical Demon Gods?”
Qiu Bai stroked his chin, thinking to himself.
“The letter says they want to make a deal with that god.”
“This plan is the final step, and for them, the most dangerous one.”
Dainsleif was also somewhat shocked.
He hadn’t expected Aether to try making a deal with one of the most powerful gods in the world.
“That Morpheus is the only god in the mortal realm unrelated to Celestia.”
“Perhaps that’s why the Abyss wants to make a deal with him.”
After his shock subsided, Dainsleif looked at the strange text and murmured quietly.
“A god… unrelated to Celestia?”
“But, during the Archon War thousands of years ago, didn’t the victorious Demon Gods all receive their Gnosis from Celestia?”
Paimon looked at Dainsleif in front of her, asking with surprise.
“How could there possibly be a god…”
“who has no connection to Celestia?!”
Paimon covered her mouth in shock, turned to look at Qiu Bai, and spoke with disbelief.
“But that’s the fact. That god named Morpheus.”
“Indeed has no connection whatsoever to Celestia.”
Dainsleif turned around to face the surprised Paimon and answered.
Lumine also looked at Qiu Bai with a confused expression.
“Why are you looking at me? I’m not Morpheus.”
Qiu Bai looked at Lumine and Paimon staring at him, his mouth twitching.
He touched his nose with one hand, speaking somewhat awkwardly.
“When this is over, I must ask Qiu Bai properly.”
Lumine clenched her hand, thinking to herself.
Paimon also looked at Qiu Bai with some puzzlement. Since he is one of the gods of the mortal realm,
then where did Qiu Bai’s Gnosis come from?
“And the Abyss Order’s plan… do they want to create…”
“the ultimate killing machine, the mechanical Demon God squid?!”
Paimon widened her eyes, turning to look at Dainsleif as she asked.
“The nickname got longer.”
“But it does sound like that’s the idea.”
Lumine turned to look at Paimon and said.
“Yes, according to the letter, placing the ‘eye’ in the hands of the Defiled Statue.”
“Along with the Authority of the God of Yin and Yang, can grant the newly born defiled Demon God the power to shake the Divine Throne upon Celestia.”
Dainsleif looked at the group and explained.
“Celestia, the Divine Throne…”
Lumine looked at Dainsleif somewhat dazedly.
“Wow… the thing this plan wants to oppose.”
“Is truly unimaginably huge.”
Paimon rubbed her head, waving her hand at Dainsleif as she spoke.
“Come to think of it, since no one knows where the world’s first Field Tiller is right now…”
“Then maybe… we should start investigating from the clue about the statue?”
Paimon continued speaking to Dainsleif.
