Chapter 135: Trickery
Chapter 135: Trickery
It turned out that Lei Yao had only been feigning unconsciousness earlier; he had actually already awakened. He was waiting for the right moment, waiting for An Dao to make his move, so he could counterattack and secure victory with his Dark Gold Longsword.
Lei Yao’s pitch-black Dark Gold Longsword, which seemed to breathe as it opened and closed, pierced through An Dao’s back from behind at an impossible angle and speed.
This was the effect of its Affix. Though the sword appeared to thrust upward, its tip created a dimensional void, stabbing into it.
The other end of the void was An Dao’s back. This “anywhere door”-style attack successfully backstabbed An Dao.
An Dao was utterly shocked because the weapon that struck him was no ordinary Dark Gold Weapon.
It was the exclusive weapon of the Demon King Mephisto, the 【Doombringer】, once a Supreme, Mythic Dark Gold Tier weapon.
But after its Master Mephisto died, it degraded into a Dark Gold Weapon.
This weapon only existed in ancient texts: “Whenever this ancient greatsword reappears in the world, it heralds the arrival of an era filled with strife and the destruction of countless living beings.”
“Why does Lei Yao have this ancient longsword? Could it be that the Demon King Mephisto has already revived? And is the Demon King collaborating with Lei Yao?” An Dao didn’t even notice his own injuries at first, terrified by this profound fear.
The next second, An Dao felt his energy rapidly draining away.
“Is this longsword absorbing my Experience Points?” An Dao exclaimed in surprise.
Lei Yao’s originally pale, bluish face regained its color, and his weak, flabby muscles became firm and powerful once more as he tightened his grip on the hilt.
“Hahahaha, you old scoundrel, did you fall for it this time? You really have a lot of Experience Points—just like that, I’ve leveled up to 35,” Lei Yao said excitedly as he stood up.
“Lei Yao, you schemed against me,” An Dao said, both shocked and furious as he watched his Experience Points plummet, nearly dropping from level 50 to 49.
An Dao struggled to break free, but the pitch-black longsword seemed alive, generating hundreds of tiny barbs inside his body that lodged firmly within, frantically absorbing An Dao’s Experience Points and energy.
An Dao was trying to find a way to escape.
“Yes, so what?” Lei Yao said confidently, tilting his head back.
Sweating profusely, An Dao said, “You’re not just cooperating with me; you’ve been working with the Demon King Mephisto all along. You did all this, Sacrificed the second Sanctuary, just to be Sneaky with me?”
“Ridiculous. Don’t think you’re important just because you’re level 50 and one of the true First Batch of Players. You’re just a Chess Piece I’m using,” Lei Yao said, kicking An Dao down to his knees.
“Level 50?”
“First Batch of Players?”
The others present exclaimed in shock, completely unable to grasp what was happening—it was beyond their imagination.
“Did the Demon King Mephisto tell you?” An Dao said nervously, supporting himself on the ground with both hands.
Lei Yao didn’t answer.
Lei Yao said, “I’m not that crazy, and you’re not important enough for me to Sacrifice thousands of people just to kill you.
I told you, I’m just using you. From start to finish, I’ve only been using you. Don’t think you’re so clever.”
Under the Core Skill of the Doombringer, with every passing second, Lei Yao grew stronger while An Dao weakened further.
“You’re not that important, don’t flatter yourself. My sacrifice of those thousands of people was solely for the purpose of conquering Kaijistan from start to finish.
Ever since I learned you could teleport, I knew you had the capability and would be constantly monitoring me.
That pink-haired Beta Tester’s scheme was indeed clever, and I truly was infuriated by this chaotic situation.
But I turned the tables, gambling on whether you would come to devour me, using the familiar under your feet—the Phantom.” Lei Yao pulled another Ancestral Legendary Spear from his backpack, pinning the shadow on the ground and thwarting An Dao’s counterattack.
“Grrrrrrrr.” The shadow emitted a pained sound, writhing and twisting incessantly.
This commotion startled those nearby.
Lei Yao even knew An Dao’s methods, having prepared countermeasures in advance. By now, he had leveled up to 38.
An Dao was helpless, his level having dropped from 50 to 48, and his body growing increasingly weak.
“Impressive, such formidable strength. Truly a weapon worthy of a Demon King.” Lei Yao’s hair now stood on end, his entire body radiating an untouchable aura of energy.
What a cunning plan. Lei Yao wasn’t just someone who could only be shocked, a villain who would only sleep when faced with decline or an unfavorable situation.
Lei Yao understood patience. When he was at a disadvantage and others tried to use him, he used them in return.
He knew An Dao was Level 50, knew his goal of using the Hell Army to invade and dominate the entire world, yet he wasn’t afraid and dared to exploit this other Big Villain.
Even in an absolutely dire situation, he dared to strike back, to risk little for much, stabbing An Dao and frantically draining his life.
His goal, his ideal, had never changed: to occupy Kaijistan, militarize the entire Player community, and turn Kaijistan into a military camp.
Using the Army’s model to counterattack across the entire Crimson Earth, completely eradicating the Aberrant Beast Demons from the Crimson Earth, and then leading all of humanity to colonize the entire Crimson Earth, building a beautiful New World.
Lei Yao wasn’t greedy either; he stopped draining life after reaching Level 40. Just as he was about to execute An Dao, this dangerous element, ahead of schedule—
An Dao snorted, “Little brat, if you think you can rule the world like me, you’re still far too green.”
“I’m not like you,” Lei Yao retorted, a rare flash of anger in his voice.
An Dao successfully disturbed Lei Yao’s focus and seized the chance to use his Ultimate Skill: “Let me show you the true strength of us First Batch of Players. Activate Skill: Gate of Life and Death.”
An Dao’s Contract Familiar, the Phantom, let out a piercing shriek: “Squeeeeeeak!”
Its form then underwent a drastic change, transforming from a pool of shadow into an intricate Magic Circle composed of dark red Tentacles.
Lei Yao had seen this Magic Circle in the Tome of Demon Summoning. An Dao was summoning a Demon King.
Of course, there was more than just Mephisto. Lei Yao focused his gaze; this Magic Circle was the exclusive summoning circle of Duriel, the Lord of Pain.
This An Dao, just like himself, had the backing of a Demon King and could also summon one onto the battlefield.
Lei Yao glanced at Ye Feixuan in the room. Earlier, when An Dao had tried to harm him, she was the first to rush forward and stop An Dao.
“Let’s retreat,” Lei Yao said, pulling Ye Feixuan behind him.
Then he snorted, pulling out the Ancestral Legendary Spear pinned to the ground, its Skill being 【Immobilize】.
“Hahaha, you fell for it, kid. Today, your grandpa will teach you what it means that all’s fair in war.” An Dao halted the summoning halfway, and the familiar Phantom transformed from a magic circle back into a pool of black water, swiftly enveloping An Dao before vanishing from the room.
