Chapter 137: One Strike

Chapter 137: One Strike

Lei Yao knew that the Demon Kings were not on good terms with each other. Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred, had been besieged and killed by the other Demon Kings, and now existed in a half-dead state.

So when he saw that An Dao had summoned the Lord of Torment instead of the Holy Mother Lilith, he decided to hold back and spare An Dao, letting the Demon Kings fight among themselves.

Lei Yao had truly been deceived by the cunning An Dao. On the surface, An Dao was a follower of the Holy Light Church of the Heavenly Father Inarius, something all players across the Crimson Earth knew.

Lei Yao also knew that An Dao actually worshipped the Holy Mother Lilith, but he never expected that An Dao was actually a follower of Duriel, the Lord of Torment.

But there was no time to dwell on that now. Taking advantage of the fact that the Main City players had not yet returned, Lei Yao wanted to seize Kaijistan in one go.

On the edge of the cliff, Jack, who was battling Demon Beasts, suddenly felt a pang of unease through his Barbarian instincts. “Something is about to emerge.”

The next second, a Warrior clad in magnificent silver-white Armor flew out from the window of the Sanctuary. A winged griffin spirit beast swooped down from the sky, catching the Warrior steadily with its lion-like head.

“A Tamer from the Warrior class, fully equipped with Ancestral Legendary Tier gear—it’s Lei Yao.” Jack focused his gaze and recognized the figure on the griffin.

Jack keenly sensed that Lei Yao’s aura was completely different, far more formidable than any Boss Creature he had encountered before.

“No, I can’t let such a dangerous person get close to Kamiyu,” Jack said.

With that, he immediately pulled out a flare gun, fired a signal flare to notify Kamiyu, then leaped onto the shoulder of a Cyclops. With a powerful stomp, he raised his Dragon Slayer Blade and soared high into the air, charging toward Lei Yao.

Lei Yao glanced back and noticed Jack’s presence. His expression unchanged, he raised the Dark Gold Longsword, Doombringer, in his right hand and gave it a light swing.

A transparent sword aura sliced through the sky, seemingly tearing through space itself, heading straight for Jack.

Jack’s Barbarian instincts screamed, and his hair stood on end in an instant. “No, I’ll die.”

With no way to dodge in mid-air, Jack could only unleash a Skill.

Golden Body.

Jack forcibly locked his HP, but Lei Yao’s strike was overwhelmingly powerful, shattering all of Jack’s Armor into fragments.

The immense impact sent Jack flying backward, crashing into a valley and nearly knocking him unconscious.

Lying in the woods, Jack watched Lei Yao flying toward the Main City and shouted inwardly, “This person is too dangerous. Kamiyu can’t defeat him. I have to get back quickly.”

But as Jack staggered, half-conscious and trying to stand up, a group of Aberrant Beast Demons set their sights on him.

Just as everyone in the Main City was enthusiastically slaying Aberrant Beast Demons, Kamiyu noticed the signal flare fired from the north.

“It’s Jack’s signal flare. What color is it? Has Lei Yao personally taken action?” Kamiyu immediately turned her gun toward Lei Yao, who was approaching from the west.

People on the western City Wall also noticed the commotion in the sky.

“Look, what’s that in the sky?”

“Is it a Demon? How do we fight flying-type Demons?”

“No, it’s Lei Yao’s exclusive spirit beast, the White Spirit Griffin,” a Veteran Player recognized Lei Yao’s emblem.

Someone even joked, “Lei Yao’s support is so late. The Aberrant Beast Demons have already been wiped out by Kamier in the south.”

Many people in the main city saw Lei Yao flying in the sky and kept waving to welcome him. After all, having one more Beta Tester defending the city meant an extra layer of stability for the main city, regardless of whether this Lei Yao was an Official Player or a Civilian Player.

At this moment, those inside the city were unaware that disaster was imminent and a great calamity was about to arrive. This Lei Yao was not here to support them but to conquer the main city and enslave everyone.

However, those in the know, such as Kamiyu and Li Changde, watched Lei Yao in the sky with great vigilance.

Li Changde glanced at Lei Yao flying above and calmly said, “The Aberrant Beast Demons have been mostly eliminated now, with only a few loose ends left to deal with.”

Beside him, Vice Guild Leader Wu Yong nodded and added, “With several thousand of us defending the city, this Lei Yao won’t be able to stir up much trouble.”

But Kamiyu, standing atop the high tower, did not share this view, for she recognized the black longsword in Lei Yao’s hand.

When crafting the Dark Gold Staff Chaos Voice earlier, she had browsed through all the Dark Gold weapons listed on the Crafting Panel.

She knew very well that this pitch-black longsword in Lei Yao’s hand, which seemed to breathe like a living creature, was the Demon King Mephisto’s exclusive weapon—the Doombringer.

Kamiyu thought to herself that if Lei Yao could wield even the Demon King’s weapon, it proved he had Mephisto’s backing.

Seizing the moment before Lei Yao made his move, she opened the Construction Sage Interface to review the attributes and Core Skill of this weapon once more.

Kamiyu’s eyes widened. “Damn, is this Core Skill really that exaggerated? It’s even more outrageous than Mohawk’s back in Dragon Roar City.

And the Active Skill Dimensional Slash is specifically designed for backstabbing enemies.”

She shook her head and sighed. “This is tough. Really tough.”

Lei Yao deliberately flew over the southern plains. He lightly tapped the head of his white spirit griffin, and the intelligent creature lowered its altitude.

Tilting his head upward, he shouted loudly, “Open the gates, surrender, or die.”

The other players couldn’t understand what Lei Yao was saying and began murmuring among themselves. “What’s Lei Yao up to? Isn’t he human? Why is he asking to open the gates?”

“He can fly in, so why does he need the gates opened? Did he get his head smashed by a door or something?” one person remarked.

Capturing the Holy Light Cathedral and securing the Heavenly Father Altar meant victory, because during every Hell Tide, players could exchange points for items at the Heavenly Father Altar.

Controlling the altar meant controlling a significant portion of the economic lifeline, and thus controlling all the players.

Lei Yao could have simply surrounded the Holy Light Cathedral, but what he wanted was the process, the ceremony. He aimed to become a great conqueror, not a schemer who overthrew the status quo from within the court.

Therefore, Lei Yao chose the most difficult method: attacking from the outside.

To help everyone understand the situation and to buy time for Kamiyu’s Cooldown Time to pass, Li Changde stalled for time.

He climbed onto the city wall and shouted loudly, “Everyone, pay attention! This Lei Yao is a Human Traitor. He’s collaborating with the Aberrant Beast Demons to try and conquer Kaijistan. Don’t let him succeed!”

The expressions on the faces of the players on the city wall varied. Some didn’t believe it, some looked utterly confused, unsure of what was happening, while others wore expressions that suggested they had already known.

“What?”

“A Human Traitor?”

“You’ve got to be kidding me. How many of us have the Aberrant Beast Demons killed over the past three years? And Lei Yao is cooperating with them?”

“He is a Beta Tester, a high-level player specially chosen by the Black Sphere to save us. How could he possibly harm us? Even if he is an Official Player, he wouldn’t stand against humanity.”

“You’re too naive. Precisely because Lei Yao is an Official Player, he dares to do anything. Back when Lei Yao chose to build the Sanctuary on the cliff, he didn’t hesitate to wage civil war against us Civilian Players,” said a Veteran Player with three years of experience.

As these people argued endlessly, Lei Yao raised his right hand and swung it forcefully forward.

Water-Calling Sword Style, Sever Reality.

Kamiyu, who had been watching and guarding against Lei Yao, saw the wind-up of this move and exclaimed in shock, “No way, using an Ultimate Skill right from the start?”

She even stood completely still to trigger the 10-second Invincibility Window of 【Ancestral Spirit’s Blessing】.
