Chapter 146: Toying With Them
Chapter 146: Toying With Them
Kamiyu wasn’t just taking hits for nothing; she had figured out Lei Yao’s wind-up—the tell before he activated his skill.
Kamiyu noticed that every time Lei Yao was about to unleash his Dimensional Slash, he would rhythmically tap the hilt of his sword with his fingers.
Once she recognized this pattern, dodging became incredibly easy.
With a “whoosh,” Kamiyu pivoted her back in advance, executing a high-speed maneuver to evade Lei Yao’s Dimensional Slash.
“Missed? How is that possible?” Lei Yao tilted his head back, his eyes wide open.
The Water-Calling Sword Style’s Sever Reality technique was supposed to be unpredictable; the target shouldn’t know the timing or angle of the incoming sword energy. Even someone as formidable as the level 50 old monster An Dao couldn’t dodge this move of his.
How did this Kamiyu manage it?
“Could it just be luck?” Lei Yao nodded to himself.
Lei Yao tapped the hilt of his sword with his fingers again.
Water-Calling Sword Style, Sever Reality.
“Nice try, but the same move won’t work on me. Your weapon is outdated,” Kamiyu said, leaning forward in advance and elegantly dodging another black sword energy.
The violent black sword energy grazed the ends of Kamiyu’s pink hair, slicing the cloud behind her in half and revealing the blue sky beyond.
“What’s going on?” Lei Yao’s eyes widened.
Refusing to admit defeat, he continued swinging—once, twice, three times.
Kamiyu soared freely through the air, agile as a battle fairy.
“Heh, I dodge, I dodge, I dodge again,” Kamiyu murmured, a playful smile curling at the corners of her lips.
Seeing her relaxed smile, Lei Yao felt as if he were seeing a ghost.
“Could it be her skill? Or her talent? Am I under an illusion? Or does she have the ability to predict the future, like that Zhong Hao back in Dragon Roar City?” Lei Yao swallowed hard, his mind reeling with shock.
Kamiyu’s smile attack actually had two intentions. First, it was psychological warfare—to pressure Lei Yao, shake his confidence, and make him doubt his own weapon.
Second, and most importantly, she was waiting for the Cooldown Time of her Headshot Strike. The Headshot Strike didn’t require aiming or locking on; she just needed to pull the trigger.
Although the intelligent Curving Bullet had a similar effect, Kamiyu wanted greater lethality—to melt Lei Yao’s armor with a single shot.
Within the six seconds of Headshot Strike, she could potentially deplete up to six pieces of Lei Yao’s Legendary Armor.
Seeing how effortlessly Kamiyu dodged, the pressure in Lei Yao’s heart grew heavier, and his swings slowed down. The Water-Calling Sword Style’s Sever Reality technique wasn’t without cost.
Like Kamiyu’s Sound of Chaos, it consumed Durability.
This feeling was like playing the clown mode in Xi Ai Fu, where every shot came at a price.
From the City Wall, the onlookers saw Lei Yao clearly at a disadvantage. The Surrender Faction members were left speechless, wondering if they had jumped into a pit of fire. Was this Lei Yao not as formidable as they thought?
“Damn, is this Lei Yao even capable? He’s been slashing for ages, and Saintess Kamier hasn’t taken a single hit. Look at her—she’s flying even faster now,” complained a Newcomer Player who had just joined the Surrender Faction.
“Exactly, this Lei Yao just isn’t up to it. His techniques have been completely seen through by Saintess Kamier,” another player chimed in.
Li Changde, hearing the wavering among the Surrender Faction, added fuel to the fire, saying, “Look, from start to finish, our Lady Saintess hasn’t even used a single move. What does that mean? Lei Yao isn’t even worth her effort. The Lady Saintess is just toying with him.”
Wu Yong joined in with mockery, “Just stick with Lei Yao’s sinking ship. Anyway, Lei Yao can’t even touch the Lady Saintess now. Once she gets tired of playing around, she’ll finish him off with a single move.”
“Hey, cross my name off that notebook. I want to quit Lei Yao’s side,” a Newcomer Player, seeing Kamiyu’s side regain the upper hand, stepped forward and said to the Surrender Faction player.
“Me too, me too.”
“I want out.”
Many Newcomer Players who were never firm in their stance, seeing the tide turning, immediately rushed forward and surrounded the Surrender Faction player.
Some even snatched away the small notebook recording the kill counts.
Li Changde walked up to those old acquaintances—leaders of major Guilds, Squads, and Clubs—lifted his head, and snorted heavily, “Surprised? Shocked? Regretting it now?”
These people didn’t even dare to retort, their faces flushed like ripe tomatoes, panting heavily, unable to utter a word for a long time.
Some Guild Players who had been coerced hurriedly rushed forward as well, crossing their names off the small notebook.
There were even some Players with faces thicker than concrete walls who approached Li Changde to apologize, “Guild Leader Li, for the sake of our past battles together, could you please remove our names from the list?”
Upon hearing this, Wu Yong immediately flushed red, stepped forward excitedly, and wanted to berate them.
Li Changde stopped Wu Yong, saying, “No need to get angry over these slaves.”
“Yes, yes, we are all slaves. We hope you’ll be magnanimous and spare us for the sake of the Lady Saintess. We are willing to serve the Lady Saintess,” these people quickly said, sensing a softening in Li Changde’s tone.
Little did they know, Li Changde’s tone shifted abruptly as he said, “I remember every word Lady Saintess Kamier said clearly: ‘Remember the IDs of every slave who laid down their weapons and surrendered. Our Sanctuary will forever ban these people from entering.'”
“But…” these people knelt on the ground.
“Get lost,” Li Changde drew the Priest’s platinum scepter.
In the end, these dozen or so people, pretending to be pitiful and familiar, revealed murderous glints in their eyes as they left.
If someone is untrustworthy, fickle, and disloyal, are they still worthy of trust? These people aren’t even qualified to be slaves. Let them perish with Lei Yao.
Li Changde gestured, signaling Wu Yong to deal with this group.
Back on the battlefield.
“Time’s about up,” Kamiyu’s lips curved slightly upward.
Headshot Strike.
Super-Phase Energy Cannon.
This time, Kamiyu didn’t choose the seven-in-one firing mode but opted for a 7x Skill duration, long enough to exceed the 6-second effect time of the Headshot Strike.
With a “boom,”
three pieces of Legendary Armor on Lei Yao melted away. He raised his Doombringer once again.
Water-Calling Sword Style, Lifesteal.
“No good, the Durability won’t hold up this time,” Lei Yao converted energy into Durability.
Kamiyu stopped.
“What’s going on?” Lei Yao was stunned. Why did she stop?
The next second, beams of energy cannons shot from different angles once again.
Another dozen or so Health Bars were depleted.
Without Armor, the Health Bar drops rapidly.
“Kamiyu, I understand your Attack,” Lei Yao glared angrily at Kamiyu in the sky.
Lei Yao took out another piece of Legendary Armor and put it on.
“Hehe, I’ll shoot again.”
The Armor melted once more, and two more Health Bars were depleted. When he raised the Doombringer, Kamiyu stopped shooting again.
“You’re cheating,” Lei Yao roared furiously.
Everyone on the City Wall was stunned.
It was pure mockery, nothing but mockery.
