Chapter 154: Successfully Exchanging the Altar
Chapter 154: Successfully Exchanging the Altar
The human faction and the Heavenly Faction have a symbiotic relationship. All player functions, skills, professions, items, equipment, and so on for humans are provided by the Heavenly Faction.
The angels of Heaven were once betrayed, so the abilities granted to humans cannot be used to attack angels.
See, it is precisely because of this design that they have avoided multiple attacks from the betrayers, forcing fallen ones like An Dao to expend tremendous effort to attack angels.
But it is also because of this design that the latent attacks of the betrayers have become even more ferocious and unstoppable.
After An Dao’s familiar, the Shadow Devourer, consumed the clone of the Demon King Mephisto, it gained demonic attributes, allowing it to deal damage to the Heavenly Father Altar.
As the demonic shadow reached the Holy Light Cathedral, the players still couldn’t catch up in time.
The demonic shadow stopped at the Holy Light Cathedral, circling the building once, seemingly plotting something.
“It’s over, it’s over. I never expected there to be a traitor among us.”
“The traitor turned out to be An Dao, who usually looks so harmless. How is his level so high? He’s still level 45. This guy hid himself well.”
“Lady Saintess, you must take him down and cleanse our Holy Light Church of this filth.”
“Lady Saintess? I’m wondering if she might be one of the traitors too. Maybe they’re playing a double act,” speculated a solo player.
Li Changde immediately rebuked him angrily, “Are you blind or just malicious? Lady Saintess has stayed in the Main City the entire time. While other Beta Testers didn’t defend the Main City, she defended it for us from start to finish, through the first and second waves of the Hell Tide.
Moreover, when the mastermind Lei Yao personally appeared to occupy the Main City and enslave all of us players, she was the first to stand up and resist.
Lady Saintess fought Lei Yao fiercely, shattering twenty or thirty pieces of Legendary Armor. Could that be fake? Even the durability of her weapon was depleted. Could that be fake too?
Now, An Dao shows up to reap the rewards, opposing Lady Saintess and ordering his familiar to attack the Heavenly Father Altar. He is a traitor to humanity.
And you, and all of you, just watching the show is bad enough, but now you’re still making sarcastic remarks.
I think you’re the ones working for An Dao.”
Many followers of the Holy Light Church, who had faced discrimination due to An Dao’s betrayal, cheered in agreement.
“Well said, Guild Leader Li!” one follower exclaimed, raising his staff.
“That’s right. Back then in the Main City, we didn’t retreat a single step. Meanwhile, these people flip-flopped, switching sides as soon as Lady Saintess seemed to be at a disadvantage and leaning toward Lei Yao.
I say, if the Main City is truly destroyed later, Lady Saintess’s Sanctuary should absolutely not allow these traitors to enter,” the High Priest added as he arrived.
“Well said!”
Just as Guild Leader Li was angrily criticizing these petty, treacherous individuals, Jack delivered a flying kick, sending the circling demonic shadow flying.
Jack raised an eyebrow and muttered to himself, “Kamiyu was right. This demon isn’t without a physical form. When it uses a skill, it becomes tangible and can be interrupted by my own techniques.”
After kicking the shadow away, Jack sprinted to Guild Leader Li’s side. With the triple-speed Skate Shoes, he arrived before the crowd in an instant.
“Give me all your points. I’ll go exchange for the Altar of Lilith,” Jack said quickly.
Li Changde quickly realized that Lady Kamiyu had already transferred her points to Jack, who had the highest Defense Power, and that Jack currently possessed the fastest Movement Speed among all those charging forward.
Kamiyu had planned from the start to have Jack exchange for the Altar of Lilith to deceive An Dao.
Without hesitation, Li Changde transferred all the Heavenly Father Points he had gathered earlier to Jack and signaled for the High Priest to do the same.
“He is the person Lady Saintess trusts the most, High Priest Jingsen. The situation is urgent now, please,” Li Changde said to High Priest Jingsen.
“And everyone, quickly gather your points and hand them over to Jack,” Li Changde said to the people behind him.
“Alright.”
“Hurry, there’s not much time.”
“Agreed.”
“Tch, this guy is stealing your points to exchange for something else. You’ll have no one to cry to when it happens,” the player who had been scolded by Li Changde earlier stepped forward to oppose.
“That’s right, that’s right. Time is running out. I suggest you exchange for yourselves. Remember, the Heavenly Father Altar only allows one person to exchange at a time. Pay attention to the time,” another person “kindly” reminded.
“Are you done yet? If you’re not helping, at least don’t cause trouble here.”
“Right, I remember you two. You just joined Lei Yao’s faction.”
Two swishing sounds.
These two were directly cut in half at the waist by Jack’s Dragon Slayer Broadsword.
Four pieces of corpses dropped to the ground, emitting a foul odor.
Jack’s sudden attack startled everyone.
“Foul mouths deserve death,” Jack said, then shook the remaining blood off the black Dragon Slayer Broadsword with a single hand.
Guild Leader Li immediately said, “Well killed. Those who don’t help but cause trouble here are traitors to humanity and should have been killed long ago.”
“Exactly.”
“Anyone who opposes Lady Saintess deserves death,” a follower shouted loudly.
The two leading rebels who had first defected on the distant city wall, seeing their disruption fail and the two they sent over actually killed, were immediately frightened and went offline to flee.
Jack continued, “Guild Leader Li, you continue collecting points from the others. I’ll go exchange for the Altar of Lilith now.”
Li Changde nodded. “Frontline Team, attack An Dao’s Familiar to buy time for Jack.”
High Priest Jingsen said, “I’ll go in with you. I’ll show you how to exchange.”
Jack took advantage of the brief moment and rushed into the Holy Light Cathedral.
“Approach and touch the altar, and an interface will pop up.”
Jack quickly scrolled up, found the Altar of Lilith at the top, confirmed it multiple times, and clicked to exchange.
A blue light flashed, and a Lilith stone statue the size of a figurine, with demon wings, appeared out of thin air in Jack’s hand.
“Huh? This size isn’t right. Kamiyu told me the altar is half a person’s height. Why is this only the size of a cup?” Jack frowned, suspecting he had made a mistake.
“No mistake. I’ve accompanied several Closed Beta testers to exchange for the Altar of Lilith, and it’s always been like this. After Lady Saintess establishes the Sanctuary, it will grow larger and taller,” Jingsen explained.
“Woo woo woo ah!” A strange monster’s scream came from outside.
“Such powerful strength.”
“We can’t hold them off at all.”
One by one, members of the Invincible Frontline Team were killed or injured.
Jack and Jingsen turned around to see that An Dao had actually entered the Main City and stepped into the cathedral.
“An Dao? How did you get in? Has something happened to the Lady Saintess?” Jing Sen asked in surprise.
Jack’s expression was extremely grave. He immediately stored the Altar of Lilith into his backpack and raised the Dragon Slayer Broadsword.
He dared not simply go offline to protect the Altar of Lilith, because he had no idea what might happen in the Main City after logging off, or whether he could even come back online after the Heavenly Father Altar was destroyed.
Most importantly, Jack was not one to choose to flee. With Kamiyu’s fate unknown, how could he possibly consider running away?
