Chapter 160: The Belated Reward
Chapter 160: The Belated Reward
Kamiyu was utterly astonished. Could the Black Sphere really have such a function?
She had originally thought the Black Sphere was only used to summon Players, announce missions, and distribute rewards afterward, just like in Slaughter City.
She never expected it could also serve as a Main City Crystal. Could it really be used to summon Players?
“Wait, how do I know you’re telling the truth? With the Main City destroyed, can we still log out of the Crimson Continent?
After logging out, can we still use our current Strength? And can we log back in after logging out?” Kamiyu fired off a barrage of questions.
Logically speaking, using the Octahedral Crystal on her chest seemed much safer.
“Ah, you really are a girl full of questions.”
“Thirteen years ago, when humans first crossed over to the Crimson Earth, only two Main Cities remained: one was Kaijistan, and the other was Seriga.”
“Hey, hey, tell me something I don’t know already,” Kamiyu interrupted.
“Human strength was far too weak, not even one percent of the power possessed by the ancient humans of the Crimson Earth. It was insufficient for my grand plan of revenge, so I taught them how to use Supernatural Power.
Among that group of humans, one was exceptionally intelligent. He quickly learned and figured out how to replicate it for others,” Mephisto explained.
“You mean the Black Sphere? But didn’t An Dao say the Black Sphere was created using points exchanged at the Heavenly Father Altar?” Jack interjected.
“You dare believe An Dao’s words? You’ve seen the Items available for exchange at the Heavenly Father Altar. Which of those could possibly be used to create a Black Sphere?” Mephisto retorted.
Jack fell Silenced. Indeed, all the exchangeable Items were combat-related; there was nothing resembling the Black Sphere’s function.
“An Dao could claim the Items used to make the Black Sphere have all been exchanged and are gone. No one can prove whether his words are true or false,” Kamiyu muttered to herself.
“None of that matters. The Black Sphere is a complete Main City Crystal—plug and play, with no side effects whatsoever.
The fragment of the Heavenly Father Altar around your neck requires a constant supply of Hatred Energy, which must then be converted into Sacred Power to activate. This means you would have to kill endlessly, whether it’s Players or Demons,” Mephisto elaborated.
“Wow, the way you put it, you sound more like an angel. Aren’t you seeking revenge against the other Demon Kings? What’s the downside for you in constant slaughter?” Kamiyu pointed out the conflict of interest.
However, Kamiyu’s heart skipped a beat internally. She was someone who loved to slack off and sleep in. Fighting and killing all day? Working overtime for the Heavenly Father without pay? She absolutely refused to become Cattle and Horses even after coming to another World.
“Because that brat Inarius betrayed me, causing me to be killed by the other Demon Kings and leading to my daughter’s death! I am sworn enemies with that scoundrel!” the Skull Blood Wolf roared.
“Boom!” An impact wave stirred by Hatred Power sent dust flying in all directions.
“Tsk.”
Jack immediately stepped in front of Kamiyu, warily eyeing the Skull Blood Wolf.
“Calm down,” Kamiyu soothed.
Kamiyu thought to herself, Mephisto wasn’t lying earlier. It seeks revenge, and I want freedom. I won’t become anyone’s slave.
Inarius had once told her, “After using it to rebuild Main City Seriga, Seriga will belong to you. I will not set up an Altar there.”
So that’s what it meant. Not being able to set up altars doesn’t mean Inarius can’t control himself. The Heavenly Father would still use the energy gap to make him fight an Eternal Conflict.
Just imagining it sends shivers down my spine.
It’s better when the affection skips a generation.
“Hiss.”
“What that kid’s altar can do, the Black Sphere can do too. What that kid’s altar can’t do, the Black Sphere can do even more. The Black Sphere is the player’s altar!” Mephisto said seriously.
“Also, the questions you just asked aren’t problems at all. Hurry back to the real world to find the Black Sphere. That’s your top priority.”
Kamiyu nodded and said to Jack, “Let’s find Li Changde first and have them spread out to gather more Black Spheres.”
As the two were about to set off.
“Wait,” the Skull Blood Wolf stopped them. “I cannot manifest in your world. You’ll need these.”
The Skull Blood Wolf opened its bloody maw and began frantically spitting things onto the ground.
“Wow, rewarding us with stuff, does it have to be so disgusting?” Kamiyu parted her lips, making an “ew” expression.
“Various rare materials, Ancestral Enhanced Tier weapons, Altars of Lilith, and keys to the Greater Rifts—Nightmare Sigils.
The Greater Rifts have more ferocious and densely packed Aberrant Beast Demons. Their strength and numbers far surpass this Hell Tide, allowing you to level up faster and obtain more Enhancement Points.
There are even rarer items like Runes that drop.
Inarius told you, right? The entrance to the Greater Rift is in Seriga. But that kid didn’t tell you that you need a key. Now I’m giving them all to you. You should be happy.
These are all things from Lei Yao’s backpack. An Dao took Lei Yao’s things, and I took them back,” Mephisto said.
“Wow, so many things. Altars of Lilith? Where did these altars come from?” Kamiyu asked curiously.
“He sacrificed a Sanctuary. I swallowed everything inside that I could,” Mephisto said, his smile growing even more sinister.
Jack looked at the Skull Blood Wolf with even more wariness.
“Also, with the mastermind Lei Yao missing, I was worried there wouldn’t be high-difficulty monsters to farm. Now we have keys to the Greater Rift where we can get more Enhancement Points. This really fell into our laps without any effort,” Kamiyu thought excitedly.
“And what are Runes?”
“They are special inscribed stones used by ancient humans to harness natural energy. They can cause a qualitative change in the holder’s skills.
For example, if you use electric attribute skills, they’re useless against a dragon with high lightning resistance. But after holding a Fire Rune stone, all your skills will gain an additional fire attribute, allowing you to easily kill the dragon.
Attribute Runes, Skill Enhancement Runes, Cooldown Runes—all kinds of Runes can be farmed in the Greater Rift.
But they are extremely difficult to obtain. You need to reach at least the 30th layer of the Deep Pit to farm them. Converted to your level, that’s probably around level 40.”
Kamiyu’s eyes lit up. She felt like she could become an attribute master now, specializing in countering her opponents’ attributes.
And what’s level 40? An Dao was level 45 and she still beat him to the ground.
She had also seen Runes in her Construction Sage Interface Panel, but the prerequisite material was Rune Fragments. She really wanted to complain back then—she didn’t even have Runes, so where would she get Rune Fragments?
Now it’s perfect. If I get any unwanted Runes, I can Disassemble them into Rune Fragments and then craft the Runes I need in the Crafting Panel, all while enjoying triple the special effects.
“Even when the main Troops later flood into the Greater Rift to farm Runes like crazy, I won’t fall behind. This is simply wonderful.”
Kamiyu swiftly gathered all the Items on the ground into her backpack space. She had now reached level 28.
Back when she had plenty of Enhancement Points to spare, she casually upgraded her backpack space over a dozen times. It was now as large as ten football fields, more than enough to store all these things.
But after all this talk, the first priority was still to retrieve the Black Sphere.
