Chapter 162: Two Realms River, Enhancement Once More
Chapter 162: Two Realms River, Enhancement Once More
The number of Black Spheres was certainly not limited to just one. With tens of thousands of Players on the Crimson Earth, hailing from all corners of the Bopomo Kingdom, it proved that Black Spheres existed in every major and minor city across the Kingdom.
“Are the Black Spheres connectors between the two worlds? If I return to reality, will I still come back? Who would want to stay in this godforsaken place?” one person voiced dissent.
“The situation in reality might not be much better. The Crimson Earth has already formed a system where everyone can band together for warmth,” another person reasoned rationally.
However, Li Changde immediately grasped the value of the Black Spheres. In the past, everyone could freely log into the Crimson Earth and leave anytime, anywhere.
Now, logging in and out could only be done through the Black Spheres. That meant whoever controlled the Black Spheres could control the Players and the flow of resources.
After all, resources in the Real World were already depleted, while the Crimson Earth was a brand-new World. Thus, the value of the Black Spheres had risen to a strategic level.
Ninety-nine percent of those present were their own people, with only one percent being outsiders. That was why Lady Kamiyu could openly and boldly proclaim this without restraint.
Kamiyu glanced at Li Changde, who instantly understood her meaning—to take covert action and eliminate those outsiders who refused to comply.
Li Changde immediately waved his hand to signal: “Attention, all members of our Invincible Guild. Unconditionally obey the commands of Saintess Lady Kamiyu. After returning to reality, collect the Black Spheres.”
“Hoo-ha!” the remaining members responded in unison.
Not to be outdone, the High Priest raised his staff high and declared: “The same goes for the followers of the Holy Light Church. We vow not to return until we have collected all the Black Spheres.”
“Clap, clap, clap, clap.” Kamiyu began applauding with both hands.
Mephisto leaped into the Dark Gold Sword Doombringer, while Jack gripped the sword with both hands and shouted: “Everyone, step aside!”
Unlike Lei Yao with his long black hair, who was quite the show-off, holding his sword with just one hand.
When the Doombringer was in Jack’s hands, it was as if he were holding a flashlight. Jack lunged forward in a bow stance and swung the sword downward with all his might.
Water-Calling Sword Style: Two Realms River.
“Hey, don’t use so much force. Just from you swinging the sword like that, the Durability is already dropping,” Mephisto, hidden within the Doombringer, complained.
“Sorry, I was born with immense strength,” Jack replied in a muffled voice.
Kamiyu narrowed her eyes, covered her mouth, and smiled faintly. Back when he had carried her and jumped off a building, he had used so much force that he nearly crushed her to death. She couldn’t tell whether he was trying to Protect her or harm her.
With that, a thunderous boom echoed.
A pitch-black fissure appeared in the collapsed Holy Light Cathedral. From outside, everyone could hear the sound of rushing water.
“This is the River of Longing that separates the two worlds. Everyone, step into the fissure, cross this river, and you’ll return to the Real World. Once you’re back, just use the Black Spheres to log in again,” Jack explained.
Hundreds of people lined up to enter the massive black fissure.
“It feels strange. It’s pitch black inside, yet I can still see.”
“It looks narrow, but once you step in, it’s so wide.”
“I feel a sense of familiarity—an indescribable familiarity, and a very comforting feeling.”
“Because this is a place everyone has been to before,” a voice emanated from the Dark Gold Sword.
“Who’s that?”
“What does that mean?”
“Jack, put the sword away. Don’t let it spout nonsense here,” Kamiyu commanded.
“Splish-splash.” The sound of flowing water echoed right beneath everyone’s feet.
“We’ve reached the Two Realms River,” said a scout leading the way.
“Huh? Why is the river water warm?”
“Is this drinkable?” asked Shagen.
“Who’s that, so bold?”
“Sounds like Shagen from the Frontline Team. That guy’s famously daring, a madman who’d even dare to ** an Aberrant Beast.”
Kamiyu had thought the Two Realms River would be something like the Sanzu River or the River Styx, but it turned out to be that—the River of Life.
The pitch-black cave, the familiar feeling upon entering, and the water slightly warmer than the human body’s normal temperature—all hinted at where this place was.
“Hehehehe, hahahaha.” Mephisto’s sinister laughter echoed once more.
“Of course it’s drinkable. You humans used to drink from the Two Realms River often. You’re fortunate—those cowards never had the chance to taste this sweet water of life.” Mephisto’s voice, surprisingly, could be heard even through the spatial backpack.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Only when the last Heavenly Father Altar on the Crimson Earth is destroyed can the Doombringer use this special Skill to tear open the space between the two realms, giving you humans a chance to return to the embrace of the World Mother.”
“Oh, I know where this is,” someone guessed after hearing Mephisto’s words.
“Tell us, where is this?”
“If that’s the case, then the water of the Two Realms River is the water of life that nurtured us. This is a great treasure!”
With that, someone plunged headfirst into the river, drinking greedily.
“Tastes good, just a bit salty.”
“Wow, Shagen, you really dared to take a sip.”
“Hehehe, the water of life once shaped you humans. Now, if you drink it again, it will awaken your latent potential.
But drinking more won’t help. Your potential is already determined by your innate limits—the water of life merely awakens it.”
Kamiyu felt this was like the Ultra Divine Water from Dragon Ball.
“Should I really drink it?” she wondered. Before knowing where this was, she hadn’t thought much of it, but now she hesitated.
Warm river water, and salty at that.
“I feel my Strength has increased.”
“Me too.”
“Keep it down, my hearing has sharpened.”
“What Talents did you all level up? Look at me—I can Levitate!”
“Are you sure that’s not a Skill?” someone retorted.
“Skill? Skills are disabled here, didn’t you know?”
“What? The Skill bar is grayed out?”
“Haha, this fool only noticed now.”
Hearing more and more people growing stronger in various ways, Kamiyu felt tempted. What would she become stronger in?
“Grow taller?”
That would indeed be nice.
“Rustle-rustle,” “rustle-rustle.”
“Enhancement,” “Construction,” “Magic Bullet.” Different voices suddenly echoed in Kamiyu’s mind.
“Mephisto, is this your doing?”
No one responded. The World seemed to stand still. It was already pitch black here, and the earlier cacophony of voices had faded, leaving only these murmurs.
“Unlock,” “unlock,” “the fountain of life,” “drink it,” “water of life.”
It’s just about enhancing myself, Kamiyu thought. Taking a deep breath, she plunged headfirst into the River of Life.
“Gulp, gulp.”
“Whoa, the density of this water is different.” Kamiyu sank straight down.
She sank to the bottom of the Two Realms River.
Struggling continuously, she suddenly realized, “Huh, I don’t seem to need to breathe. Right, this is the Water of Life—a fetus can naturally ‘breathe’ in amniotic fluid.”
