Chapter 197: Pillbox

Chapter 197: Pillbox

The reason why the Sanctuary could stand firm on the Crimson Earth, and why so many veteran players scrambled to get inside, was due to its integrated offensive and defensive capabilities.

The Sanctuary’s Defense Power depended on the quantity and quality of materials—the more materials, and the rarer they were, the higher the defensive strength of the constructed walls.

Back then, Li Changde’s entire Guild, along with its affiliated guilds and squads—totaling nearly a thousand people—all served Kamiyu, dedicating themselves to material farming and purchasing materials without limit on the market.

Thus, Kamiyu lacked neither materials nor rare ones. Coupled with her Construction Sage Talent, and by stacking the 【Triple Attributes】 talent, she made her Sanctuary the most formidable among all Beta Tester Players.

As for the offensive aspect, that was exactly what Kamiyu was currently strengthening.

She opened the Sanctuary’s building Interface Panel and selected offensive fortifications.

Looking at the various offensive fortifications in the panel, Kamiyu scrolled without hesitation to the Magic Cannon. This offensive fortification closely resembled her own Magic Bullet skill, and the advantages of the Magic Cannon were extremely evident.

Maximum Power: A single shot could blast a Level 30 Aberrant Beast Demon or Dungeon Boss into the sky;

Simplest Operation: After granting permission, it imposed no restrictions on player class or player level—any player could operate it. No artillery skills were required; simply aim and fire;

Greatest Versatility: It could fire Magic Artillery Shells of the five major attributes—ice, fire, poison, electricity, and dark—allowing it to counter Aberrant Beast Demons and Ability Users of different attributes. The main strategy was to exploit elemental weaknesses and deal special attack damage.

She excitedly thought to herself, “The long-awaited Magic Cannon, here it comes.”

She tapped with her finger:

Offensive Fortification: Magic Cannon.

Level: Penitence, corresponding to Level 31–40 players, Aberrant Beasts, and Demons on the Crimson Earth.

Operator Permission: All.

Seeing the text on the panel, Kamiyu pondered internally: “The Construction Sage’s 【Triple Attributes】 recipe allows enhancement in one of three major categories: power, rate of fire, or range.

Choose one out of three? They all seem so appealing; why can’t I have them all?

Triple power could one-shot a Level 40 Boss;

Triple rate of fire, changing from one shot per minute to three shots per minute—this is even more enticing;

Triple range, extending from 15 kilometers to 45 kilometers—feels like it might be wasted here. Later, when the outermost frontline defense circle is built, it could be placed there.”

After a moment’s thought, Kamiyu decided she still preferred the feeling of a thousand cannons roaring simultaneously, with a fast rate of fire. This could also make the enemy think they faced a large number of troops and cannons, thereby delaying their advance.

“Alright, it’s decided.”

“Stack Construction Sage, adjust rate of fire to triple,” Kamiyu muttered to herself.

“Confirm.”

A “Zzzzzzzz~” sound rang out. On the side of the apartment building facing the Fear Emperor Tree, a cannon five meters long and thirty centimeters wide, resembling a modernized antique design, was mounted inside the room.

“Oh, a fixed turret?” Kamiyu noted that the elevation and depression angles were quite good.

“Then I’ll go all out.” Seeing that the material cost was only equivalent to that of one Legendary Weapon, she declared, “I want to take on ten.”

In her 15th-floor apartment, she had set up a total of 50 Magic Cannons facing all four directions—east, south, west, and north. The majority, 45 in total, were positioned toward the west, north, and east, facing the Fear Emperor Tree.

Beside each Magic Cannon, Kamiyu had placed only 100 rounds of ammunition.

She calculated on her computer: 3 rounds per minute per cannon, with 50 cannons, meant 150 rounds per minute. If every shot hit its mark, that would instantly eliminate 150 level-30 Dungeon Boss Aberrant Beast Demons per minute, or 9,000 per hour.

“Tsk, terrifying indeed. And this is just for one floor. There are 28 floors in total, with 13 more floors available to set up cannons. The sheer DPS is simply unimaginable. With this Sanctuary, any Hell Tide would be nothing but trash.” Kamiyu let out a heavy sigh.

And this was just one type of offensive fortification. She still hadn’t built the slightly less powerful Magic Mortars and Magic Grenade Rapid-Fire Cannons.

She also hadn’t laid down disposable landmines or constructed the wooden Storm Crossbows—Kamiyu decided she’d build those too.

With the largest area, the highest Defense Power, and now her Triple Attributes-enhanced offensive fortifications, it was absolutely clear and certain: her first Sanctuary was the most powerful one. No Beta Tester’s Sanctuary could compare to hers.

Kamiyu announced to everyone, “From now on, this Sanctuary will be called Longming Sanctuary.”

Though it sounded a bit abstract, “Longming” carried the meaning of a true dragon’s roar—the implied meaning was actually quite good.

Longming Sanctuary… sounds kinda weird,” one player complained.

“Don’t laugh.”

Seeing a whole row of majestic and imposing cannons, some players were eager to try them out. To exaggerate a bit, every guy dreams of being an Artilleryman, wanting to fire them every day, play with them nonstop.

A few guys couldn’t wait to get their hands on them right away.

“Hey, Miss Kamiyu, I wanted to ask—do the Magic Cannons need Artillery Shells? And how do you operate them?” a student raised his hand and asked.

Kamiyu replied, “Of course they need shells. I’ll have Xiao Zhong list the materials needed to make the shells and send it to everyone’s phones. If you want to go up and play, gather the materials yourselves.”

She was pleasantly surprised that the Black Sphere had such uses. As long as players had phones on them, they could be located and sent messages at any time.

Kamiyu excitedly thought in her heart: “The Black Sphere’s messaging function is incredibly powerful—it’s practically like a Hack.”

Basic functional gameplay could be like an adventurer’s Guild, assigning tasks to everyone, detailing each task’s information, where to go, what to do, and what Spoils of War to expect.

More High-Level gameplay, like modern warfare: the Black Sphere could provide live aerial surveillance, spotting enemies anywhere and relaying the info to frontline players.

There’s also a live-streaming function. Paired with Magic Cannons, it would mean pinpoint accuracy—aim where you see, hit where you aim.”

She was amazed to discover that the combination of Black Sphere and Sanctuary was the future mainstream.

Fortunately, she had ordered Li Changde to collect Black Spheres—an unintentional move that turned out to be a huge early advantage for herself.

And then there were high-caliber talents like Xiao Zhong—they absolutely had to be well protected.

Back to the scene.

The Newcomer Players all took out their phones to check the materials they needed to collect: “Magic Crystal Ore, Fear Emperor Tree branches.””

“Tree branches are easy to handle, but where can we collect the Magic Crystal Ore needed for the Artillery Shells?” a player asked.

“Is this safe?”

“I think we should form a collection team to gather resources from the city.”

“I’ll do it! I have an SSS-Class Destruction Talent—I want to chop down those damn Ability Users,” the student player was the first to raise his hand and volunteer.

Kamiyu smiled and said, “Magic Crystal Ore is found within the Crimson Earth, only existing in certain specific Instance Dungeons. Now that the two worlds have merged and the rules are colliding, I had Xiao Zhong use the Black Sphere ‘radar’ to open the heavenly eye, and we discovered several similar Magic Crystal Ore mines. Kami and Jack will lead the team to collect them.”
