Chapter 217: Second Enhancement of the Magic Cannon

Chapter 217: Second Enhancement of the Magic Cannon

Kamiyu saw that the Sanctuary had taken on a completely new look. If not for the apartment building standing in the center, she would have thought she had come to the wrong place.

They had already expanded to the point of constructing the first defensive circle, building thick walls at the outermost edge. The material was black and cold, resembling steel; it looked like a strategic fortress, giving off a profound sense of security.

The buildings on the outskirts of the Sanctuary had been completely razed to the ground after useful items were recycled, clearing out a massive area of open space.

“Oh, oh, it’s Miss Kamiyu’s Hummer.”

“Miss Jia is back.” The players working on the scaffolding waved in salute to Kamiyu as they saw the Hummer.

Kamiyu rolled down the window and waved back. She felt more and more like a lord. She carefully observed her surroundings, reminiscing about her journey along the way. She had started as a mere newcomer player, bluffing her way through until she accidentally joined Li Changde’s Guild, farmed a massive amount of materials, and then fought a tough, confusing battle.

She had gone head-to-head against Lei Yao and Mephisto, defeated them, returned to the real world, and then defeated those Ability Users.

Starting as a minor player, her influence had grown until she became the Master of the Guild and the owner of the Sanctuary, managing a small territory.

Though it wasn’t huge—only 28.26 square kilometers—this area was still equivalent to a small tribe or village.

Kamiyu saw that the second and third defensive circles inside were also well-organized. There were even steel-type Ability Users who had created a rail system, using small trains to transport materials. Every few hundred meters, there were electric vertical lifts to raise players onto the city walls.

Xiao Zhong introduced, “Fortunately, we have many students from Longming Technical College specializing in civil engineering, machinery, and construction. They’ve brought new ideas to the Sanctuary’s construction. We’re not just using the original buildings provided by the Sanctuary, but we’ve also integrated existing human technology.”

“For instance, the outermost layer uses a double-wall design—one high and one low, staggered. Aside from providing double defense, it allows us to install two rows of Magic Cannons, achieving double the DPS.”

“Also, we’ve designed a dedicated ammunition depot and a Magic Cannon transport rail car system. Even if the artillerymen run out of backpack space for artillery shells, our riders can follow the rail system to deliver them to specific numbered cannons along the path,” Xiao Zhong introduced proudly.

Jack’s eyes widened. He knew what this meant. Ammunition always runs out; war is a matter of logistics and transport. Once the players’ backpack space is exhausted, someone needs to transport more.

Delivering shells to wherever they were needed meant that designing this information transmission system and ammunition delivery network was incredibly important. He hadn’t expected this group of student soldiers to come up with all this in less than two hours. They really couldn’t be underestimated.

Kamiyu looked at the sci-fi-like Sanctuary and saw how the players were skillfully utilizing the Sanctuary’s built-in structures. She saw many sights she hadn’t seen in other Sanctuaries and nodded repeatedly in excitement.

Alright, sentimentalities aside, it was now time to enhance the Magic Cannons. This time, the focus was on range, as they were preparing for the battle to conquer the Fear Emperor Tree.

She first began constructing a Magic Cannon every ten meters along the outermost edge, facing the direction of the Fear Emperor Tree.

Kamiyu climbed onto the twelve-story-high wall, and the players building reinforced structures atop it saluted her one after another.

She gave a light wave of her hand and said, “I’m going to build Magic Cannons here. Now you’ll have new toys to play with.”

“Awesome! The guys on the 15th floor treat theirs like precious treasures and won’t let us near them,” one player said excitedly.

“Long live Miss Kamiyu!” another player shouted directly.

She tapped her fingers:

Offensive Fortification: Magic Cannon.

Level: Penitence, matching players, Aberrant Beasts, and Demons from levels 31 to 40 in Crimson Earth.

Operator Permission: All.

Kamiyu saw the text on the Interface Panel: “The Construction Sage’s 【Triple Attributes】 recipe allows for one of three major categories—power, fire rate, or range—to be enhanced.

For construction, I’ll still choose triple fire rate, changing it from one shot per minute to three shots per minute.”

A “zzzz-vwoom” sound rang out as a cannon—five meters long, thirty centimeters wide, and shaped like an antique design from the modern era—was mounted upon the city wall.

This wasn’t the end. This time, she intended to use Enhancement Points to further strengthen the Magic Cannon. The original version of the Magic Cannon only had a 15-kilometer range. Even with the Triple Attributes range enhancement, it would only reach 45 kilometers. Even if placed on the outermost circle, it would reach 50 kilometers at the absolute most, which wasn’t enough to hit the Divine Tree in the city center 80 kilometers away.

Kamiyu placed her hand on the barrel of the Magic Cannon, and the enhancement panel immediately appeared before her.

【Enhanceable Object: Magic Cannon; Enhancement Effects: Range: 100 kilometers; Power: Torment Tier, matching level 41 to 50 Aberrant Beast Demons; Fire Rate: 1 shot every 10 seconds, no cooldown required.】

Kamiyu’s heart began to thud rapidly. It could be played like this? She didn’t have to choose one of the three categories of power, fire rate, or range—she could enhance all three directly? This was incredibly overpowered.

Her excitement didn’t last long, however, as she saw the text below and cooled down. 【Required Enhancement Points: 5 points.】

“Holy crap, that expensive? With 516 Enhancement Points, I can only enhance 103 cannons at most? That’s nowhere near enough. Even if I use up all my stored Enhancement Points, I can only enhance about 150 cannons,” Kamiyu grumbled inwardly.

She seemed to have developed firepower deficiency anxiety. 103 double-enhanced Magic Cannons were enough to destroy heaven and earth; a 100-kilometer range was comparable to short-range missiles. One shot every 10 seconds was slower than a rocket launcher, but the power was immense. With Torment Tier power, based on her previous run in the Mine Dungeon, a single shot could wipe out a dozen or twenty red-armored special Goblins.

Faced with these double-enhanced Magic Cannons, even if she didn’t act herself, the players under her command could slaughter Fifth-Tier Ability Users with ease.

“Fine, 103 it is. Later, I’ll snipe the BOSS in the open-pit Mine here, acting as a laborer to earn Enhancement Points and give everyone some benefits.” Kamiyu’s goal was to build 1,000 Magic Cannons in the first defensive circle. Including the second and third circles and the apartment tower, there would be over 3,000 Magic Cannons in total. She wanted to ensure everyone had a cannon to fire and achieve absolute firepower suppression.

“To implement this plan, I’m afraid I’ll need a massive amount of manpower and resources to farm the Mine and Magic Crystal Ore. Otherwise, it would be a joke to have Magic Cannons but no Magic Artillery Shells.” Kamiyu glanced at Li Changde’s report; he was less than an hour away from arriving.

Once they arrived, her Sanctuary would become even stronger. They could open a second, or even third and fourth Mine to collect cannons and materials.

And then, it would be the final showdown with the Fear Emperor Tree.
