Chapter 223: Resolving the Conflict
Chapter 223: Resolving the Conflict
The newcomer players all agreed. In this terrifying environment, only the Sanctuary could guarantee their safety. They regarded the Sanctuary as their final home. Now that the Ability User Army was about to invade their home, everyone needed to step up and protect it.
“Your mission is simple: go to the Five Major Mining Zone Dungeons, kill Aberrant Beast Demons, level up, mine for materials, and accumulate combat experience.” Li Changde, afraid they might not understand, explained concisely.
Everyone responded to Kamiyu’s call, preparing to join the mining teams.
“Wait a minute, we have no problem joining the mining teams, but after that, are we supposed to join the guild?” some student players asked.
The underlying issue was raised. Li Changde and his group, as “outsiders,” were clearly distinct from the existing student army.
Now, with the need to integrate everyone, this problem arose—who would listen to whom, and were they all equal?
“What are you saying, kid? Are you looking down on our Invincible Guild? In Crimson Earth, many people are eager to join our guild,” roared Sen Qiang, captain of the Frontline Team.
“That’s right. Only because you’re newcomer players did we arrange for you to level up with us. We don’t even expect you to fight; you can just stand aside, gain experience, move things, and clean up the battlefield,” said a captain from a Second-Tier Team.
Li Changde immediately raised his hand to stop his subordinates.
His subordinates were all battle-hardened, top-tier combatants in Crimson Earth, belonging to the elite of the First Echelon—players others looked up to. Being looked down upon by these greenhorns was indeed unbearable.
Murmurs and whispers filled the air.
The conflict became apparent. Some wanted to do their own thing and not follow orders.
“Right, they’re so strong. Would they boss us around?” a student asked, raising both hands.
“See, he said it outright—he wants us to pick up stuff,” another student said bluntly.
Kamiyu couldn’t stand it anymore. She understood some people’s thoughts—they simply wanted autonomy, to establish their own guilds or squads. So she stepped forward: “This is a special situation that requires everyone’s cooperation. I won’t restrict your freedom. Players who want to join the Invincible Guild only need to pass the assessment.
As for those who want to establish their own guilds or squads and squad up on their own, I won’t stop them either.”
“Oh, Miss Kamiyu, that’s great!” praised the students who had been opposing earlier.
“That’s more like it. I don’t want to take orders from others; I want to squad up on my own,” said some players who weren’t entirely clear-headed.
“Miss Kamiyu, you’re too accommodating. It’s great to have a leader like this,” a student said somewhat sneaky.
Xiao Zhong worriedly said, “But this way, Miss Kamiyu, you’re being too kind.”
Jack looked at those student players who still didn’t understand the situation and snorted heavily.
Jack thought to himself, Kamiyu wouldn’t be this accommodating for no reason.
Kamiyu shifted her tone: “Only newcomer players who are willing to join the guild, pass the assessment, and successfully join President Li’s guild will receive my Newcomer Gift Pack: one Class-Specific Legendary Weapon, one piece of Legendary Tier Armor, and 30 bottles of Various Potions.”
As soon as Kamiyu said this, the entire place erupted in an uproar.
“Pass the trial and get a Legendary Weapon upon successfully joining the Guild? Wow, I’m only level 1—skipping Common Tier and going straight to Legendary Tier at level 1?” exclaimed a student player who had already been considering joining the Guild.
“Come on, have you even passed the trial?” his companion retorted. The two had agreed earlier to inquire about joining the Guild.
“Wow, I want to join! I want to join!” some naive students who didn’t overthink it immediately raised their hands.
Kamiyu’s move was brilliant—a decisive strike. If you wanted to play on your own, of course, that was fine. Kamiyu wouldn’t stop you, and she wouldn’t even prevent you from leaving the Sanctuary.
But players who chose to go it alone wouldn’t receive Kamiyu’s grand gift pack or her “Enhancement.”
As for those who joined just for the Newcomer Gift Pack, the trial served as a checkpoint. With Li Changde’s management skills, he would efficiently and skillfully filter out those with ulterior motives.
Kamiyu was “kind-hearted,” but she wasn’t a Holy Mother.
The student players who had their own agendas and had earlier voiced opposition now found themselves in a dilemma, unsure whether to join or go their own way.
One of them looked at Xiao Zhong, who had long since sworn loyalty to Kamiyu and naturally wouldn’t undermine her. Xiao Zhong said, “Miss Kamiyu is the Master of the Sanctuary. Everything follows her lead.”
“What? You’ve betrayed us,” the person said.
“Bro, what should we do then?”
“How should I know? Try taking the trial. Maybe we’ll pass.”
Li Changde maintained a calm expression, but he had already memorized the faces of these dozen or so people. He instructed Wu Yong to filter them out.
Playing on your own was fine—then you should be self-reliant and not rely on Kamiyu’s resources or abilities.
The fact that Kamiyu still allowed these people to stay in the Sanctuary was already incredibly merciful. According to the rules of Crimson Earth, such individuals would be expelled from the Sanctuary.
The Sanctuary required absolute safety and couldn’t tolerate internal strife. A prime example was Lei Yao: during the Hell Tide War on Crimson Earth, those Bandit and Outlaw Players attacked the defensive walls from inside the Sanctuary, dismantling materials to sell off.
However, with the Black Sphere’s surveillance now in place, such utterly despicable behavior could be prevented.
Time was Life. Kamiyu played another card—”drawing a pie to satisfy hunger.” She arranged for players to go in batches of ten. As soon as a batch of Newcomer Players passed the trial, they would be led by Frontline Team members directly to the Mine Dungeon for Material Farming and leveling up.
The student players who hadn’t passed the trial yet, or the many more potential students still hesitating about forming their own Guilds or Squads to play independently, watched anxiously.
Passing meant receiving the gift pack. Kamiyu transformed into the Invincible Blacksmith Wan Suiye, crafting Legendary Weapons and Armor on the spot tailored to each profession. Once ten people were ready, she would lead them out immediately—first come, first served, getting a head start to level up in the Mine Dungeon.
Seeing their anxious expressions, Kamiyu chuckled inwardly. “This is exactly the effect I wanted. No one wants to fall behind. When some advance first, the others naturally won’t accept defeat and will desperately strive to pass the trial.”
Sure enough, as more batches headed to the Mine, the players in the plaza grew increasingly restless, forming lines for the trial.
Li Changde’s so-called assessment was simply controlling the time it took for Kamiyu to craft equipment—once she finished, it was the next person’s turn.
It was all about controlling the field.
“Damn, why didn’t I pass?” a student Player shouted loudly.
Xiao Zhong shook his head inwardly: “Isn’t it obvious? You just stood up to voice opposition earlier—who would let you pass?”
