Chapter 246: Forcing Out the True Form

Chapter 246: Forcing Out the True Form

Having a higher tier doesn’t necessarily mean greater intelligence. Hungry Ghost Shara had already advanced to a Fifth-Tier Ability User, yet after watching Kamiyu use the Hammer of the Thunder God hundreds of times, he still hadn’t figured out its weaknesses or the points where he could evade it. He deserved to be electrocuted.

The group of Fourth-Tier Ability Users from the Stadium Mine Dungeon earlier were much smarter than Hungry Ghost Shara. Under Kamiyu’s “guidance,” they learned to jump to avoid the second-stage damage of the Hammer of the Thunder God—specifically, the six arcs of electricity that randomly scatter across the ground.

All you had to do was jump. The higher you jumped and the longer you stayed airborne, the safer you were. If you could fly, you could avoid it entirely.

As Mephisto had said, this was a flaw in Kamiyu’s Skill.

But Hungry Ghost Shara actually didn’t know how to dodge it, and his luck was so poor that he ended up getting hit by the non-directional scattering arcs.

“Gyaaaaaah!” Hungry Ghost Shara bathed in the white-gold electric light, his entire body immobilized and unable to move.

“Perfect opportunity.” Jack seized the moment to adjust his Water-Calling Sword Style, Sever Reality—the timing and direction of this space-time sword technique’s appearance.

Once again, he aimed for its throat.

Why not strike its arms or legs? Why aim for a lethal spot? Wasn’t he stealing Kamiyu’s Enhancement Points?

That was because Jack thought to himself: this was a life-or-death struggle, not some polite game of make-believe. Besides, Jack had been keeping a mental tally for her all along. The number of Enhancement Points on Kamiyu now had likely reached five digits—she was in no shortage of them at all.

Precisely because Kamiyu trusted him, he had to attack the enemy with all his might, to completely annihilate the foe. Only then would he be worthy of Kamiyu’s trust in him and fulfill his promise to protect her.

Jack had long been itching to charge down and slice Hungry Ghost Shara into mincemeat. However, he had a more important task: to protect Kamiyu by her side, serving as both her sword and her Shield.

His highest priority had always been not to play the Hero, but to protect her—to safeguard her both on and off the battlefield.

With this sword strike came a “Squelch!”

Along with the transparent palm-like Tentacle, Hungry Ghost Shara’s head was also severed horizontally, falling to the ground.

People in the Black Sphere War Room exclaimed, “Success?” “Big Brother Jack is amazing!” “No, Miss Kamiyu is even more incredible. She immobilized the enemy, allowing Big Brother Jack to seize the chance and cut off its head.”

Back on the battlefield, Kamiyu and Jack exchanged a glance, warily watching the headless Hungry Ghost Shara as they prepared their next move.

No Experience Points were gained, and there was only one reason for that: the enemy wasn’t dead yet.

The next second, Hungry Ghost Shara’s head “floated” up from the ground, drifting around like a drone before finally settling back onto its neck.

“Pfft.” Hungry Ghost Shara spat out a mouthful of old blood, then a mass of Tentacles emerged from its mouth. Its neck also sprouted eerie, vein-like micro-tentacles that stitched its head back to its neck.

“Gurgle, gurgle.” Its mouth seemed to be saying something.

“Hahaha, even though your Attack Power is incredibly strong, you’re still far from killing me.” Hungry Ghost Shara retracted the protruding Tentacles back into its mouth, chattering away.

Everyone in the Black Sphere War Room watched in astonishment. “It doesn’t die even after losing its head? What kind of Monster is this?”

“Physical strength capable of withstanding Lady Kamiyu’s lightning element attacks, and even recovering after being decapitated by Jack—is this the power of a Fifth-Tier Ability User?” Li Changde analyzed.

“Exactly. Ability Users are different from Players. Without armor, Players will die instantly if struck in vital areas like the head or heart, just like normal humans. But Ability Users are not human. Their vitality is even more exaggerated than that of Aberrant Beast Demons. Every Ability User above the second tier possesses innate recovery abilities.” Xiao Zhong watched the live broadcast with a grave expression.

“The higher the tier, the harder they are to kill,” Wang Fang added.

“Isn’t that even more cockroach-like than cockroaches?” Wu Yong blinked, making an analogy.

The tense atmosphere was instantly alleviated by his remark.

Kamiyu truly wasn’t afraid of such “immortal” enemies because she had encountered several before—Bald Tiger, Qian Long, Hou Ao, and others. She had killed third-tier and fourth-tier ones. A fifth-tier? It just meant killing it a dozen or twenty more times.

She thought to herself, such a perfect punching bag was just right to test her combined skill with Jack.

The people on the tree branch found another safe spot to watch the battle below.

“How do you deal with an immortal enemy?” one expert asked.

“Just flee,” another replied.

“Huh?”

“A Dong is right. When facing an immortal enemy, fleeing is the best option. If you don’t run, you’ll only get trapped, losing any advantage you’ve gained,” Captain Lin Fan agreed.

“Captain, even you endorse running away? But what if you can’t escape? Like now, with Kamiyu still holding her ground. If Kamiyu chose to flee, she might escape, but her Sanctuary would be flattened,” another person questioned.

Lin Fan shook his head, finally admitting his own limitations, and said, “I don’t know. But I believe Kamiyu will personally give us a perfect demonstration.”

Back on the battlefield, Kamiyu chose a different attack method: Load: Thunderstorm Bullet, Select: Frenzied Lightning Arrow, Stack: Armor-Piercing Bullet. Select Core Skill: Super-Phase Energy Cannon.

She pulled the trigger directly, firing a six-in-one Super-Phase Energy Cannon. The energy contained within far exceeded that of a Triple-Barreled Magic Main Cannon’s energy beam, slanting diagonally from the sky toward the ground.

With a “Zzzzzz~ Swish~” sound.

The high-energy plasma beam cannon, white on the outside and red on the inside, tore through the air, burning it and evaporating the dust particles in the atmosphere, creating an instant vacuum. The immense air pressure difference compressed the vacuum space, propelling the beam forward even faster.

“What?” The Hungry Ghost Shara on the ground hadn’t expected Kamiyu to change tactics so quickly, shifting from a vertical attack direction to a diagonal downward one.

With a coverage area comparable to the size of a Tunnel Boring Machine, no matter how much Hungry Ghost Shara tried to dodge, it couldn’t escape Kamiyu’s attack range. The blast enveloped Hungry Ghost Shara, hitting it directly.

Given the vast coverage and near-light-speed Attack Speed, unless one fled the moment Kamiyu pulled the trigger, it was absolutely impossible to evade her attack.

The intense light was so powerful that even Jack had to cover his eyes, unable to see the enemy, which also prevented him from taking action.

A few seconds later, Kamiyu opened her squinting eyes to see a black-red fruit floating in mid-air—this was Hungry Ghost Shara’s true form.

She exclaimed in surprise, “No way, it’s still not dead?”

Jack tightened his grip on the Doombringer in his hand.

Someone from the Black Sphere Room said in astonishment, “Miss Kamiyu’s blast penetrated dozens of kilometers underground and created a Deep Pit, yet it still isn’t dead?”

Kamiyu thought to herself, “If even this can’t kill you, you’re in for a rough time next. Looks like I’ll have to get serious.”
