Chapter 250: Got It, New Magic Bullet Combo
Chapter 250: Got It, New Magic Bullet Combo
While Jack fought the half-bodied Hungry Ghost Shara, Kamiyu had no intention of merely observing from start to finish. She kept her scope trained on the battle below, waiting precisely for this moment—when the Fear Emperor could no longer endure the pain and released control over the Fruit Core.
Seizing this instant, she activated the Royal Pegasus’s skill affix—Dimensional Flash. Along with the Royal Pegasus, she passed through the spacetime Magic Circle, her form dissolving into particles, and the Royal Pegasus instantly appeared before the half-bodied Hungry Ghost Shara.
Even without its upper body, Kamiyu could see the terror-stricken expression on Hungry Ghost Shara’s face, as its tentacle-like hands trembled and attempted to reconnect.
But Kamiyu was faster. She snatched the Fruit Core and “instantly refined” it.
Her tactic was simple: have Jack beat the Fear Emperor until it howled in agony, forcing it to voluntarily sever its connection to the Fruit Core, intending to reconnect after the damage subsided.
Kamiyu had been waiting for this exact moment. Severing the connection meant the Fruit Core became an ownerless item, usable as crafting material. Thus, her Construction Sage Interface could “refine” it.
She had gambled that the Fear Emperor was actually a bully—outwardly tough but inwardly weak. The so-called Fear Emperor had merely crowned itself with the character for “fear” through continuous killing, yet it too could feel fear.
Kamiyu’s gamble paid off. She successfully captured the Fruit Core and stored it in her backpack space. Now it belonged to her, and the world rules of Crimson Earth prevented the Fear Emperor from reconnecting to it.
Seeing the plan succeed, Jack instantly downed a Mind-Steadying Potion, expelling the inner demon Mephisto had planted within him. With a high leap, he landed on Kamiyu’s Royal Pegasus.
“How are you? Did you get burned?” Kamiyu asked with concern.
Jack exhaled a puff of hot air, his mouth steaming. “Minor issue. I’m used to it.”
“Good. But next time, drink a few potions before diving in,” Kamiyu suggested.
The next moment, Kamiyu watched as Hungry Ghost Shara completely vanished. She gained 32 Enhancement Points and a large chunk of additional points, now just one step away from reaching level 30. Her mood soared with delight.
“Hahahaha! We fooled that idiot! Calling itself the Fear Emperor? More like the Sugar Emperor,” Kamiyu taunted proudly toward the Fear Emperor Tree, tilting her head back.
“ROOOOAAAAARRRR!” A deafening roar erupted from the Fear Emperor Tree Core Zone, shaking the ground and even causing an earthquake.
“Getting angry already? Don’t be so stingy—we only took one Fruit Core,” Kamiyu on the Royal Pegasus even pulled it out triumphantly, tossing it in her hand to mock the distant Fear Emperor Tree.
Kamiyu was playing with fire, constantly provoking the Fear Emperor—and it worked spectacularly. Everyone could see the surrounding leaves turning deep crimson, the tree vines bulging with veins. It was clear the Fear Emperor was furious.
Her goal was to attack the Fear Emperor’s body, mock its spirit, and ultimately leave it helpless. In short, she wanted to infuriate it to death.
She kept taking out the fruit core and putting it back, taking it out and putting it back—it was pure temptation, pure provocation aimed at the Fear Emperor.
Want it? Can’t have it. So what? That’s just how I, Kamiyu, am. Who told you to oppose me?
“With just a murder maniac like you, you dare call yourself the Emperor of Fear? Hahahaha, you pathetic Fear Emperor, getting beaten down by a mere human like me, having your precious energy nexus snatched away—how does it feel?” Kamiyu loudly mocked.
“Hehehehe, not bad, little girl. Truly worthy of inheriting my great skill and wisdom in bewitching and unsettling minds,” Mephisto emerged again, boasting about himself.
The earth shook violently, countless tree roots churned, many branching Fear Emperor trunks toppled, and vast swathes of branches and leaves fell to the ground, withering and decaying.
“Hahahaha, this Fear Emperor can’t beat you, so it’s destroying itself instead,” Mephisto jeered.
Kamiyu shook her head. “With such pettiness, how can it be called the Fear Emperor? ‘Petty Emperor’ would be more fitting.”
Jack joined in with a laugh. “Don’t provoke it anymore. If you keep going, you’ll literally anger it to death.”
Kamiyu added, “Enough playing around. It’s time to return to the Sanctuary and organize our victory, to properly study how to use this fruit core.”
As soon as she finished speaking, tree vines, like tentacles, shot toward Kamiyu, trying to reclaim the fruit core.
“Be careful. You’ve angered the Fear Emperor enough that it’s now using its foundational strength to directly control the vines and capture you,” Mephisto warned.
The Fear Emperor was like a gambler who had lost his mind, red-eyed and desperate, having lost most of his stakes and now betting everything to win back what he had lost.
But the Fear Emperor was facing Kamiyu. Did it even stand a chance of winning?
More and more vines chased after them, faster and faster, nearly surrounding Kamiyu.
“Cut them down,” Kamiyu said, still holding the reins of the Royal Pegasus, and ordered Jack to turn back and slash the vines behind them.
With a slight twist of his wrist, Jack executed the Water-Calling Sword Style: Sever Reality.
A single sword strike cleaved through the dense vines around them, and the Royal Pegasus accelerated once more.
But the next moment, even more and denser vines erupted explosively, moving faster and harder to evade. Kamiyu had no choice but to perform high-speed aerial maneuvers.
In the dark room of the war situation chamber, Li Changde shouted, “Quick, quick, support Lady Kamiyu! She needs to return to the Sanctuary!”
Everyone immediately readjusted their ballistic coordinates to support Kamiyu and Jack.
“Boom, boom, boom.” Dense aerial explosions and flames suppressed and delayed the vines’ advance.
“You’re not the only one who can control vines,” Ji Yue stepped forward at the critical moment, planting her wooden staff into the ground.
“Kaaah!” she shouted, focusing intently on a “tug-of-war” with the Fear Emperor over control of the vines.
“Overestimating yourself,” a distant voice echoed from deep within the Fear Emperor Tree.
“Guh!” Ji Yue was violently thrown back through the air, coughing up blood.
Though it was like a mayfly trying to shake a giant tree, she still bought Kamiyu over ten seconds.
“Medics, doctors, healers—save her, quick!” Dunzi shouted excitedly.
On the Royal Pegasus, Mephisto said, “Buy time. Whatever you do, don’t let the Fear Emperor catch you. It’s only forcibly sustaining this attack with its reserves. It won’t last long.”
Upon hearing this, Kamiyu felt no tension; instead, a plan formed in her mind. “Oh, in that case, I might as well step on Fear Emperor one more time.”
“Jack, hold the reins tight.”
“I didn’t really want to reveal myself early, but never mind. Let Fear Emperor witness the power of aging.” Kamiyu reversed her gun, aiming it behind her.
