Chapter 270: If You Can’t Beat Them, Join Them
Chapter 270: If You Can't Beat Them, Join Them
Kamiyu’s idea was actually quite simple: she wanted to use Skill Fruits to exploit a bug, allowing her to have a Dual Class, enabling her to use the Warrior class and wield the Immovable Binding Spear.
She even envisioned something more exaggerated—a Triple Class, combining Warrior, Mage, and Priest into one, maximizing her DPS.
As Mephisto had said, she still only half-understood it all, but she knew she had accomplished something truly remarkable.
Looking at the large pile of D-Class and E-Class Skill Fruits, Xiao Zhong said, “These low-level Skill Fruits won’t go to waste either. They can be used to unlock Dual Classes, allowing everyone to achieve high-level DPS even with weapons.”
Kamiyu said, “Well then, don’t hold back, everyone. Take a few Skill Fruits from other Talent classes. Let’s all have Dual Classes or Triple Classes.”
They were still quite reserved and hesitant to take them. Kamiyu said, “I’m not good at management, but items are meant to be used. If they’re just piled up in Storage, they’re nothing more than dead weight. Don’t hold back with these Skill Fruits—use them to reward those who have performed well, or give them to the research group to develop new technologies.”
Hearing Kamiyu’s words, everyone finally felt at ease, thinking that their Boss was incredibly generous.
Li Changde thought to himself that if it were any other Beta Tester, such important Skill Fruits would never be circulated—they would be kept exclusively for the Beta Tester’s own use.
Xiao Zhong, on the other hand, thought that Miss Kamiyu was truly a wise leader. She was bound to achieve great things in the New World, and following her was undoubtedly the right decision.
So Xiao Zhong said, “I’ll create a logbook later to record the level, content, and quantity of every Skill Fruit harvested, as well as who they were given to. This way, there will be a clear trail, and we can estimate the approximate numbers in the future.”
Kamiyu nodded. Professional matters should be left to professionals. She didn’t need to micromanage everything, or she’d end up like Naruto after becoming Hokage—exhausting herself.
After taking the Future Prediction Fruit and dozens of Warrior and Priest class Skill Fruits, she headed to the BUG Research Group’s site.
Ever since a few imaginative Players from the Student Legion had researched Stacked Walls, she had allocated resources to these Players and designated a dedicated research base, located in the original Longming Technical College’s teaching building.
Kamiyu walked for less than 10 minutes before spotting two Airships parked on the playground.
The changes in the Sanctuary were truly rapid. Jack couldn’t help but remark, “These students are incredibly smart, with limitless imagination. I remember they first exploited a bug to create Stacked Walls, making our Sanctuary walls three times taller than anyone else’s. It was truly impressive.”
“Not only that, they also developed the Triple-Barreled Magic Main Cannon. After I enhanced it, it became the Sanctuary’s main weapon. Even if I’m not around, they have the ability to defend themselves. Now, they’ve gone even further, developing Airships and Rockets. I wonder what amazing Items they’ll create once they have Dual Talents or Triple Talents,” Kamiyu said, looking at the parked Airships with great anticipation.
Upon seeing Kamiyu and her group arrive, several students in white coats and goggles hurried over.
“Miss Kamiyu, we apologize for not coming out to greet you earlier. We were too busy and didn’t notice your arrival,” said Xu Zhike, the leader of the BUG Research Group, politely.
Xiao Zhong briefly introduced the research group’s situation to Kamiyu.
“This… the skin of this airship is stitched together from the hide of a Boss Creature?” Kamiyu had found it vaguely familiar from a distance, but upon closer inspection, she realized it was actually the skin of a Demon.
Even Mephisto let out a thoughtful hum, though it was unclear what he was feeling at that moment.
Seeing Kamiyu’s keen interest, Xu Zhike explained, “This is all thanks to Miss Kamiyu’s powerful Skill, which allowed us to kill the giant Boss Monster without damaging it. That gave us the opportunity to use its hide to make the airship’s skin. And fortunately, our Sanctuary has a Tailor profession, otherwise, without a tool lathe, we really wouldn’t have been able to make it.”
Xiao Zhong was somewhat puzzled as to why there would be a Tailor profession.
Li Changde explained, “On the Crimson Earth, not all professions are Combat Types. There are also quite a few Life-Support Type professions that are non-combat roles. That’s why organizations like Guilds, Squads, and Clubs exist.”
Kamiyu, however, was confused about when she had a Skill that could kill Aberrant Beast Demons without leaving a wound.
Seeing her little brain not quite working, Jack said, “He’s talking about your Hammer of the Thunder God Skill, which paralyzes the Aberrant Beast Demon’s heart, causing it to die without any visible wounds. That’s what they mean by a kill without injury.”
Kamiyu touched the charred skin, blinked her eyes, and said, “Oh, I see.”
Jack was truly at a loss with her. He never knew when she would be clever or when she wouldn’t be, but she always managed to come up with unexpected, surprising ideas at certain moments and places. A recent example was the Skill Fruit, and a bit further back was her Ultimate Skill, Flying Horse R-Flash, to steal the Fear Emperor’s Fruit Core.
In short, he just couldn’t figure her out.
Kamiyu asked, “What is the purpose of building this airship? To install a Magic Cannon on it? But our Magic Cannon can already cover almost half of Dragon Roar City and reach the range of the Fear Emperor’s core tree trunk.”
Kamiyu’s question immediately sparked the desire of the BUG Research Group members to explain, each eager to let Kamiyu know the airship’s impressive capabilities.
“We can use the airship for Special Operations. According to intelligence from Officer Zhong, the Fear Emperor is very afraid that Miss Kamiyu will counterattack and reach the core zone of the tree trunk. He has set up multiple barriers between our Sanctuary and the core zone, preventing our cannons from bombarding the tree trunk’s core area,” Xu Zhike explained.
Kamiyu glanced at Xiao Zhong, wondering when he had become an intelligence officer. This made Xiao Zhong a bit embarrassed.
But this was a good sign. As the Sanctuary’s scale grew, an organizational structure was needed. She was like a local lord, and her subordinates needed positions; it couldn’t be like playing house.
Hearing the word “barriers,” Kamiyu’s heart sank. “Then all the Magic Cannons and Triple-Barreled Magic Main Cannons I worked so hard to build, and all the materials everyone risked their lives to gather—wouldn’t they all go to waste?”
Xiao Zhong explained, “The images from the Black Sphere show that the Fear Emperor has only erected Tree Walls near the Tree Trunk’s Core Zone. He’s imitating our Sanctuary, building walls.”
Jack snorted, “If you can’t beat them, join them? How shameless.”
Kamiyu smiled bitterly, “This also proves our strength from another angle—we’ve fought so fiercely that the enemy is now obediently following our lead.”
“Where there are walls, we tear them down. That’s why we built the Airship, to descend from the sky and dismantle the walls like a modern Army’s Special Operations, then call in artillery fire from the rear.”
