Chapter 10: Quest Completed!
Chapter 10: Quest Completed!
Original: Chapter 10: Quest Completed!
“Aaaaaah… aaaaaah… aaaaaah… It huuuuuuuuuurts!”
The moment I defeated the Fire Ant and felt relieved, the pain in my bitten ankle became about a hundred times worse.
“An ambulance—bandages—painkillers… but there’s nothing here because it’s a Dungeon…”
Dragging my right foot, I made my way back along the trail I came from. With one leg in tatters, even taking a single step was heavy labor.
I’m doing pretty well not crying, aren’t I? Super impressive.
…Huh, I feel like I’m forgetting something. An ambulance won’t come here, but I should have something I can use when I’m in trouble.
“Oh, right.”
I opened my Item Space. The window storing my items appeared before my eyes.
“I have a Potion, don’t I—whoa?”
When I tried to drink the Potion, a message appeared, overlapping the Item Space window. That message was in the way, and I couldn’t take out the Potion from the Item Space. Seriously. Guess I have to read it first.
‘Quest completed! You have obtained the following reward.’
“1000 Pon and 5 Skill Points came in—but that doesn’t matter right now!”
Tapping the window made it disappear. Right now, it’s about the Potion, the Potion.
But another message appeared. Oh, come on, what now? Blood is steadily flowing from my ankle, you know.
‘There still seem to be many Fire Ants in the surrounding area. Will you continue the challenge? Reward: 100 Pon per two ants.’
“Of course not. If I fight something that strong again, I’ll definitely die.”
Since there was a choice, I selected ‘No.’
And finally, I was able to take out the bottle containing the Potion from my Item Space. That took forever.
Come to think of it, this might be my first time drinking a Potion. Until now, I’ve been selling all the Potions I made. I’m a little excited. What does it taste like?
Gulp, gulp, gulp.
Whoa—so this is what it’s like. It feels like delicious, sweet natural water. Plus, there’s a refreshing sensation that clears my head nicely.
The more I drink, the more it feels like a healing power is racing through my entire body. Especially, I feel a strong healing power working on my right ankle.
“My ankle is super hot!”
The flesh and skin are healing rapidly. Hot, hot, hot. The heat is intense.
While drinking the Potion, I checked my Status. The HP number is steadily rising.
I felt dizzy, but apparently, I still had more than half my Life Force left.
I finished drinking the entire Potion. HP fully recovered. My injured right ankle was completely healed, too.
“Potions are amazing.”
I think they have power far surpassing modern medicine on Earth.
And also—I swung my arms around. My body feels light. My mood is refreshed. It’s not just a full recovery; it feels like I’m in the best shape of my life. If I drank this while studying for exams, I might be able to study more efficiently.
Though, I can’t open my Item Space outside the Dungeon, so I’d have to transfer the Potion to another bottle and bring it back with me.
“Well, time to head back.”
I glanced back once. A little distance away, the Fire Ant I defeated was lying limp, only its upper body sticking out of the ground.
“If I had the 〈Dismantle〉 Skill, I could collect Materials…”
Without that Skill, I don’t know which parts of the Fire Ant are sellable, and I’d have to prepare dismantling tools and go through the trouble of extracting the Materials.
I looked at the list of acquirable Skills.
“To get 〈Dismantle〉, I need 100 Skill Points.”
Plus, I’d have to level up the Skill Level afterward. Since it’s not an initial granted Skill, needing more points to raise the Skill Level is also tough.
“Getting 〈Dismantle〉 isn’t very realistic right now…”
I have no choice but to give up on those Fire Ant Materials.
“If only I had lots of friends…”
Maybe one of them would have the Skill 〈Dismantle〉. But since I’m all alone, the day I make friends will probably never come…
I entered the trail leading back to the plaza. It’s a narrow trail, just wide enough for one person to pass through.
“Ah, a Slime.”
It’s hopping this way. What a carefree face. It doesn’t know it’s about to get stomped by me.
“Take this!”
As usual, I stomped on the Slime.
I defeated it easily, and it dropped a Mana Gemstone. Nice.
“Just ran out, so this is lucky.”
While walking, I made a Potion.
Once I entered the familiar path, I searched for Medicinal Herbs and Slimes on my way back. Found quite a few, I think.
By the time I returned to the plaza, the Potion creation was just completed. I’ll sell this and then head home. Miss Rilril is still running her street stall.
Huh, a Message Window popped up.
‘Level Up. Status Points have increased, and you have obtained Skill Points.’
Yes! Time to level up 〈Potion Create〉.
I guess the effort was worth it. But I’ve learned that combat Quests are dangerous, so I won’t do them for a while. I’ll steadily level up the old-fashioned way.
Miss Rilril noticed me.
“Welcome back—how did it go?”
“I thought I was going to die—”
It’s nice to have someone to talk to about Quests. I feel like Miss Rilril and I have gotten closer. Our conversation was pretty lively.
