Chapter 3: Got the Potion Materials!

Chapter 3: Got the Potion Materials!

Original: Chapter 3: Got the Potion Materials!

I managed to get the Medicinal Herbs needed to make a Potion using my Skill. Next, I need to find something called a Mana Gemstone.

According to the explanation, you can get them fairly often by defeating Monsters.

“I just need to defeat weak Monsters, right?”

The problem is, I have no idea what a Mana Gemstone looks like.

“Well, I guess I can just defeat a few Monsters at random and see.”

I move a little away from the small Spring where I got the Medicinal Herbs.

“I think it was around here…”

When I first arrived at this Spring, I saw a small Monster. It hid behind the rocks right away, but if it hasn’t moved from there yet…

“Oh, there it is.”

There’s a small Monster looking up at me with a “Gah! I’ve been found!” expression. It’s about the size of my two hands spread out.

“Found a Slime.”

Surely even I can defeat a Slime. I mean, it’s a Slime. In Japan, it’s a regular Monster depicted as weak in all sorts of entertainment works.

“So, well, goodbye.”

I stomped on the Slime with my right foot. Then, I squished it around with my foot.

Then, I felt something go shhh out of the Slime. Maybe its will to live or something.

When I lifted my foot, there was a spread-out, gooey liquid-like substance.

“Did I defeat it?”

It doesn’t even remotely retain its original form anymore.

But there’s nothing that looks like a Mana Gemstone. There’s just a gooey, sticky liquid. When I touched it with my hand, the Message Window asked, ‘Store the Slime in your Item Space?’

“Eww, I don’t want this gross thing.”

It probably wouldn’t sell for much, so I won’t take it.

By the way, the Item Space seems to be a personal space for me in another dimension. I can store things there, but the capacity is small, so I can’t use it too freely.

I could also put it in my backpack and take it back, but well, I don’t need the Slime. If I really wanted to, I could make one myself.

It’s a little nostalgic. I made one once at a summer vacation kids’ experience event when I was little. It was pretty fun.

“Anyway, let’s go look for the next Slime.”

Oh, one is coming from the path ahead.

No luck for you getting spotted by me. Unaware of its life being in danger, it’s hopping along, heading for the small Spring.

“How does it jump with that slimy body?”

Does it even need to drink water in the first place? The questions never end. Well, whatever.

“Take this!”

I stomped on the Slime.

“Too bad. No Mana Gemstone again, huh—”

Come to think of it, what’s with me raising my foot high and stomping on the Slime? Slimes have eyes, you know.

“It’s definitely watching…”

The inside of my skirt… I won’t say what, but…

“Was today’s pair okay to be seen?”

After making sure no one was around, I checked the pattern. …Hmm, passing grade. It should be fine even if a Slime sees it.

“Wait, why am I feeling embarrassed in front of a Slime?”

I switch gears and look for Slimes. There don’t seem to be any more around here.

I decided to go a little further ahead.

Oh, there was a Slime on the path. It was staring blankly somewhere.

I quietly approached and crushed the Slime. At that moment, the Slime’s eyes darted around and definitely looked up my skirt.

“Eek, you pervert!”

I’ll squish you under my foot. Take that!

Alright, defeated it—. When I moved my foot away, there was something shiny. Sparkly. Almost blinding.

“Is this it? The Mana Gemstone?”

When I held it in my hand, it was like a little star. Palm-sized, spiky, and emitting a warm light. It felt as if energy itself had taken form and was shining.

“It’s pretty beautiful.”

It might make a good indirect light in my room at night. It’s a bit of a shame there’s no on/off switch.

I opened the mouth of my Shark Backpack. I put the Mana Gemstone inside.

No light leaked from the backpack, so it shouldn’t be embarrassing.

Alright, with this, gathering the Materials is complete.
