Chapter 84: Let’s Prepare for Battle (One)
Chapter 84: Let's Prepare for Battle (One)
Original: Chapter 84: Let’s Prepare for Battle 1
We had successfully reunited with Miss Himeka, and to report in, we came to see Miss Rilril.
The moment she saw us, Miss Rilril looked incredibly happy.
“Wow, Miss Sayuki, you managed to meet up with Miss Senior! That’s great. I’m so relieved.”
She was happy for us as if it were her own good news.
“Yes, I’m really glad Miss Himeka came. We also managed to accept the Event Quest.”
“With Miss Senior here, I feel at ease. What was the Recommended Conquest Level, if I may ask?”
“It was 85. That’s pretty high.”
“It’s good it wasn’t 95. Around level 100, strength changes to a degree that alters your world.”
“Alters your world…?”
“Once you reach that level range, you’re considered to have graduated from being a Dungeon Beginner. It becomes a world where, if you don’t make meticulous preparations and carefully plan your strategies, you might find yourself collapsed and turned to bones before you know it. That kind of thing becomes commonplace.”
“Th-that’s too scary…”
“Wait, so we were still beginners?”
True. Regardless of me, Miss Himeka didn’t seem like a beginner at all.
“The road ahead in the Dungeon is still long, you know. There are people who reach four-digit levels, and sometimes you have to stay for a month to conquer a Quest.”
Four digits… A month-long stay… Wow… wow… that sends shivers down my spine.
“That actually sounds pretty good…”
That was my honest impression. Miss Himeka showed a happy reaction.
“Right? I thought it sounded good too. I’m really happy it feels like our sensibilities match, Little Sayuki. Living here for a whole month sounds like something I’d want to try.”
“Yes. I’d like to try it. Though it seems like I might never be able to return to Japanese society.”
“Actually, I hear that’s how it is for Dungeon pros. There are Dungeon Conquest pros all over the world, but they all say the same thing. They say that by living in the Dungeon, they truly came to understand just how stifling, boring, and dull the society they were born and raised in was.”
“I think I’ve heard that before. If you start feeling that way, it really seems like you can’t go back to society, huh?”
Will I ever reach that state? I’m still a complete beginner, far from being a pro, but living a life centered around the Dungeon is a little appealing.
Miss Rilril is listening to our conversation with a smile.
“Miss Sayuki and Miss Senior, it seems like the day will come when you live in the Dungeon. Just a feeling, but it seems your hearts are drawn to the Dungeon.”
That’s definitely true. Every single day, I can’t wait to come here. So I replied to Miss Rilril with a smile.
“Yes. I love the Dungeon!”
“That’s so like you, Miss Sayuki.”
“Ehehe.”
So Miss Rilril already recognizes me as a Dungeon-loving person.
“Well then, for you, Miss Sayuki, who loves the Dungeon so much, please allow me to give you a little present.”
“Eh, what is it?”
Miss Rilril rummaged through some luggage behind her and pulled something out.
“For this Event Quest, you’ll be fighting quite a few Higher-ranked opponents, and there’s a Level Difference between you and Miss Senior, so I was a little worried. So, please, take these.”
Miss Rilril took out three black, round, ball-like things. On each ball was a white skull mark.
I had a hunch.
“A… Bomb…?”
“Yes, that’s right. You figured it out quickly.”
“I sensed it intuitively. Aren’t these dangerous?”
“No, they are dangerous. So please keep them in your Item Space normally, and take them out to use when needed.”
“Do you need fire or something?”
“No need. Just throw them with all your might. They’ll explode when they hit something. However, they are the most basic type, so they only reduce the target’s HP by about 30. Please be mindful of that.”
“I think that’s plenty powerful. Thank you, Miss Rilril!”
“Not at all, please enjoy the Event Quest to the fullest!”
I received three Bombs from Miss Rilril.
Apparently, if you tried to buy a Bomb like this normally, one costs 3000 Pon. Wealthy Adventurers buy a bunch before fighting strong Monsters.
Fighting using lots of explosives… it seems like it would be good stress relief. I bet it’s a popular product among stressed-out salaryman Adventurers. They probably imagine the Monster is their hated boss or something and hurl Bombs at it.
I put the Bombs in my Item Space. Alright, with this, preparations are complete, I think.
