Chapter 88: VS Dead Adventurer (Two)

Chapter 88: VS Dead Adventurer (Two)

Original: Chapter 88: VS Dead Adventurer 2

“Little Sayuki, is the Potion you were making today ready yet?”

While keeping a wary eye on the Dead Adventurer, I quickly glanced at the screen to check.

“It will be complete in three more minutes.”

“Soon, then. That means we can handle a few minor injuries.”

“Yes. Though I’d prefer to win without a scratch.”

“Ahaha… That might be a bit difficult…”

So it’s that formidable an opponent. After all, its Recommended Conquest Level is higher than Miss Himeka’s Level.

From my experience fighting it so far, I think it’s even higher than Recommended Conquest Level 85. Judging by the Dead Adventurer’s movements up to now, its maneuvering is completely different from a normal Monster. It feels experienced in battle and can think tactically. It’s almost like fighting a real human.

That’s why I think finding a strategy will be tough.

Miss Himeka was grinding her Blazer-clad foot into the ground. She was probably just putting out the fire, but I couldn’t help thinking there must be plenty of people in the world who’d want to be stepped on by those beautiful feet. It just looked so picturesque.

“Alright, Little Sayuki. Shall we go on the count of three?”

“Huh? You mean a simultaneous Attack?”

“Yeah. From left and right at the same time.”

“Understood. I’m ready whenever.”

“Okay, on three!”

Miss Himeka and I started running at the same time.

The Dead Adventurer raised its Sword once, but then, for some reason, drove it into the ground.

“Little Sayuki, Magic might be coming again!”

“I know. If it’s the same Magic as before, it’s no problem. I know if we charge through, we’ll take almost no Damage.”

The Dead Adventurer was gauging the distance. It seemed to be trying to lure us in as close as possible.

It’s a little scary. I feel like we might fall right into the Dead Adventurer’s strategy.

But we can’t defeat it without attacking. I think now, while the Dead Adventurer doesn’t have its Weapon in hand, is our biggest chance to Attack, so we can’t stop. I want to force my Hammer to hit it somehow.

The Dead Adventurer seemed to grin. It really was luring us in. But how exactly is it going to Counterattack? Miss Himeka and I are already quite close to the Dead Adventurer, flanking it from left and right.

I don’t think it could react in time even if it grabbed its Sword and got ready now—

“Uhehehe.”

The Dead Adventurer bent one knee and crouched. Then, while generating a creepy, prickling power from both hands, it placed its palms on the ground.

“Miss Himeka, this seems like different Magic from before!”

But I don’t know what kind of Magic it is.

“UOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!”

The Dead Adventurer’s Magic was Activated.

I clearly sensed that Magic had been cast on the ground.

Still, just three more steps and we’d be within range to land an Attack on the Dead Adventurer. So we have no choice but to force our way through.

But I immediately realized that judgment was a mistake. I let out a pathetic-sounding cry.

“Whoa, whoawawawawawa!”

“Eek! What is this? No way! This is super bad!”

Miss Himeka and I lost our balance dramatically at the same time. We couldn’t stand properly. Because, absurdly and abruptly, the ground had risen up sharply.

It probably rose about 70 centimeters. Something so utterly beyond my imagination had happened that my mind went blank.

I desperately flailed with the foot that was off the ground. But I couldn’t stop the momentum carrying me forward. The momentum from my run wouldn’t stop—

The Dead Adventurer grabbed its Sword and glared at me with a look full of murderous intent. Its two eyes, glowing red deep within their sockets, seemed to be laughing. It wore the face of someone certain of victory.

“Awaawawa, th-this is bad. I can’t do anything.”

If I keep losing my balance and fall forward like this, I think I’ll be skewered by the Dead Adventurer’s two Swords. It would definitely be instant death.

So, should I Attack? But I don’t think an Attack made while off-balance would have much power.

The remaining hand I can probably use… is just one.

“Kuh—”

I swung my Hammer in a backward motion. Then, I somehow hooked it onto the risen ground, trying desperately to halt my forward momentum. Furthermore, I braced with my one foot and used my abdominal muscles to attempt to retreat backward.

“SHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!”

However, I don’t know if that decision was the right one.

The Dead Adventurer charged at me, laughing. It was an incredible speed.

And then, without mercy, it swung its Sword down diagonally.

I felt the cold sensation of the Sword run diagonally across my skin, from my left shoulder toward my right flank.

Ah… That was pretty deep… I took a terrible Attack… I’ve been completely had…
