Chapter 14
Chapter 14
“Oh, you’re here.”
“When did you get here?”
“Just now.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. Anyway……”
“Hm?”
“I sent separate emails to the streamers who are Hunters among the popular ones.”
“Okay. And?”
“Some of them said it was too much of a hassle even if they got paid, or asked how they could trust us and turned it down. But about three of them called back saying they’d do it. All three live nearby, so I went and met them.”
“And?”
“Yeah. So I asked around about this and that and set up a meeting.”
“All three?”
“Yeah, they said they’re streamers who know each other pretty well. So I figured it worked out perfectly and decided to meet them all together. That’s better in a lot of ways, right?”
“Yeah, that’s probably better.”
Jaeha nodded at Seungho’s words. Then he looked at Seungho and spoke.
“When’s the meeting?”
“Two days from now. We’re meeting in the evening. And they asked if you’d be willing to appear on their broadcast.”
“They did?”
“Yeah. Since we’re the ones asking them about doing broadcasts, they said it might be a good idea for you to come on and get some experience with being on air.”
“So?”
“I told them I’d ask you first. What do you think?”
“Hmm. Are these streamers well-known?”
“They said they average around 2,000 viewers.”
“That’s fine then. Numbers like that won’t change much anyway. We’re going to hire journalists to write articles regardless.”
“Where do you even get connections like that?”
“There’s nothing money can’t do. Plus I know some people on the side.”
“Hmm. Well, whatever the case, it’s not bad if my employer becomes famous. Got it. I’ll send them a text about it.”
“Sure.”
With that, Jaeha spent the rest of the time relaxing.
* * *
Two days later, Jaeha went with Seungho to meet the streamers. He asked them how they ran their broadcasts and how they came up with and executed what people commonly called content.
“Well, content ultimately comes down to racking your brain. I’m a variety game streamer, so when a new game comes out, I play that.”
“I see.”
“It’s the same for other BJs and streamers. In the end, there’s nothing to do but squeeze your head and think something up.”
“Hmm.”
After asking several more questions, Jaeha paid the promised money and got up from his seat. As they walked outside, Seungho looked at Jaeha and asked.
“See? I told you there wasn’t much to ask.”
“That’s true, but…… at least the parts I was curious about are clearer now.”
“Is that so. So what now?”
“Now…… I should head home first. Then I’ll finish preparing for the broadcast and get started.”
“What more do you need to prepare?”
“I need to actually turn on the broadcast and do something, don’t I?”
“Right.”
“I have to decide what to broadcast.”
“What are you going to do?”
“What else would a Hunter do.”
“Hunting?”
“Yeah. My rank is D-Rank right now. Solo-clearing a C-Rank dungeon should be enough to grab attention.”
“Solo a C-Rank? You sure you’ll be okay?”
“Based on my estimates, I should be able to one-shot all the monsters in a C-Rank dungeon too. Then no matter how fast they charge at me, as long as I keep enough distance before fighting, there won’t be much danger.”
“Still, be careful.”
“Don’t worry.”
Jaeha smiled as he said that. Not long after, he arrived home and started looking for suitable dungeons. In the middle of that, Seungho approached Jaeha as if he’d found a good one and spoke.
“Hey hey, what about this one?”
“Huh?”
“Here. I mean…… the Forest of Ogres.”
“Ogres, huh.”
“They’re one of the more famous monsters, and each dungeon has about 200 monsters. Not too many. Plus, if you can kill an Ogre in one hit like you said, it shouldn’t be hard. And since Ogres move in family units, the most you’ll see at once is 4 to 7.”
“That’s true.”
“What do you think?”
Jaeha thought for a moment at Seungho’s question, then nodded.
“Good. Let’s go with that one. Ogres aren’t monsters with exceptional agility anyway. They’re the kind of monster that puts pressure on a party hunt, but for me, they’re not much of a burden. Let’s do it there. And when should we start the broadcast?”
“If we’re gonna write articles and all that, we probably need a few days, right?”
“That’s true, isn’t it? You take it easy and rest up.”
“Got it.”
With that said, Jaeha sent Seungho back up to his place and called Herb Gramps.
<What is it?>
“I have a small favor to ask.”
<A favor?>
“Nothing big. I’d like you to spread some articles using reporters.”
<Sure. Oh, right. I found you a house.>
“Ah, you did?”
<Yeah. You’ll probably like it.>
“Then I guess I need to get ready to move.”
<Right. And the time for you to meet that man has been set too.>
“Is that so? When is it?”
<Next month.>
“Next month?”
<Yeah. I’ve set it for around the middle of next month.>
“Understood.”
<Then I’ll see you then.>
“Yes. Take care.”
After hanging up, Jaeha went back inside. Then, looking at Seungho sprawled out beside him, he spoke.
“Hey. Get ready.”
“Huh? For what?”
“What do you mean, what. We’re moving.”
“Moving?”
“Yeah. He found us a house.”
“Oh, already?”
“We’ll pack up and move within the next few days.”
“Is that so? Alright.”
With that settled, Jaeha smiled.
* * *
After finishing the move, Jaeha had a quick meal and went into his room, where he connected to the internet and read through the articles.
There were a tremendous number of articles online. There were so many that they had even made it onto the real-time search rankings.
“Not bad.”
It was absolute pandemonium. His subscriber count, which had been hovering precariously around 1.1 million, had already reached 2.5 million.
‘The subscriber count doesn’t matter much, so I’ll just skim past that…… Then all I need to do is rest and kill time until the day I’ve scheduled the broadcast.’
Smiling, Jaeha figured he might discover a useful skill or two, so he started watching various videos on MuTube.
* * *
“Alright, let’s get started.”
Smiling, Jaeha quietly opened his mouth.
“On air.”
At that, multiple windows appeared before Jaeha. They were the broadcast settings windows. There were all sorts of settings, but Jaeha didn’t touch most of them—he simply began scanning through them.
He needed to know what functions were available so he could use them later during the broadcast. There were a great many functions usable on stream.
There were things like freezing the chat window or changing the screen being broadcast. Among them, the most fascinating was the ability to change the viewpoint of the broadcast feed.
Originally, the broadcast transmitted what Jaeha’s eyes saw. But it was possible to change the viewpoint, as if placing a camera at a specific location rather than showing what was in his line of sight.
After checking through all the functions and completing his settings, Jaeha pressed the ‘Start’ button at the bottom. At that, a window appeared again.
[The live broadcast has begun.]
As the window confirming the start appeared, Jaeha immediately began walking slowly toward the dungeon. And by the time Jaeha arrived in front of the dungeon, the number of people watching the live stream had surpassed 100,000. Seeing that, Jaeha brought up the chat window in one corner of his vision.
Then, because the chat was moving too fast, he opened the settings window and adjusted things again. At that, the chat began appearing translated entirely into Korean. Even better, the translations were so perfectly paraphrased that it was easy to grasp the meaning.
‘The system sure is convenient.’
After changing the viewpoint so his own figure appeared on the broadcast, Jaeha glanced at himself on his cell phone, smiled, and greeted the viewers.
“Nice to meet you. I’ll finish the detailed introduction once I’m inside the dungeon.”
With that, Jaeha walked straight into the dungeon. Once inside, he checked the viewer count.
[Viewer Count: 662,912]
“About 660,000 people are watching right now. Thank you. And……”
He paused to think for a moment, then spoke.
“Can everyone understand what I’m saying?”
He said that while watching the chat window, checking whether people connecting from other countries might not understand what he was saying.
—We understand everything.
—That’s strange. It’s not our language, but we can understand it.
—Must be thanks to the system.
Watching the chat messages scroll up, Jaeha nodded.
“First, let me start with a brief introduction. My name is Na Jaeha. I’m 27 years old this year. It’s been about two months since my Awakening.”
—Nice to meet you.
—Hello.
“And to tell you a bit about the dungeon I’m in right now. This is the Ogre’s Forest. It’s a C-Rank dungeon, and as the name suggests, it’s a dungeon where Ogres appear.”
—Ogres?!
—What rank are you, Hunter?
—What’s your Rank?
“My Rank is C-Rank. Though I haven’t been officially certified yet. My Total Ability corresponds to C-Rank.”
—A C-Rank is solo-clearing a C-Rank dungeon?
—Minors might want to leave the broadcast now.
Looking at those comments, Jaeha smiled.
“Don’t worry.”
With that, Jaeha smiled. Then he opened his mouth.
