Chapter 30

Arriving in front of his house, Jaeha spat out a low curse.

“Damn it.”

Jaeha was what people commonly called a genius. And he was well aware of that fact himself. Things he could do with ease, others struggled with, either barely succeeding or failing outright most of the time.

Seeing that kind of contrast over and over, even the dullest person would realize they were exceptional.

He also had a solid understanding of the ability he currently possessed. The ability to create skills from watching videos. That meant anything conceived in the human mind—things that had never existed in Hunter history—could be turned into skills and used.

And yet, he’d struggled just to catch a single gu poison. Even worse, it had been an extremely low-rank gu poison. Of course, it was true that he’d identified the gu poison with his ability and ultimately caught it, but Jaeha wasn’t satisfied with the process.

‘The fact that I couldn’t completely subdue the gu poison. The fact that I nearly got someone killed because I was being complacent even when things weren’t perfect. The fact that I had the ability but didn’t think to use it properly.’

None of that sat well with Jaeha. He’d only avoided disaster through sheer luck this time. If luck hadn’t been on his side, Chairman Ju would already be dead. Being able to treat Chairman Ju this time was purely thanks to luck.

Jaeha knew his ability and talent well. His talent and ability weren’t so low that luck needed to intervene to determine whether he succeeded or failed at something he’d judged himself capable of.

That was what put him in such a foul mood.

“From now on……”

Jaeha’s eyes burned as he said that.

‘I won’t let a situation like this happen again.’

Muttering those words to himself, Jaeha headed home.

Chapter 3

Since treating Chairman Ju, Jaeha hadn’t been doing his broadcasts properly. The main reason was that he simply didn’t want to spend time on them.

Having realized his level was still far from sufficient, Jaeha had been getting serious about skill farming in earnest.

So after returning from the hospital, he mostly just went back and forth between home and the blacksmith shop. Of course, even while doing that, he kept watching MuTube videos on his cell phone.

‘Watching things at random like this probably won’t yield good skills. If I want to get proper skills, I’ll need to search for specific things and watch them myself.’

With that thought, Jaeha pondered what kind of skills he might be able to obtain. Though that didn’t mean anything came to mind right away.

‘First, I’ll go make some weapons and put them up at the auction house.’

Jaeha headed straight to the blacksmith shop.

Arriving at the blacksmith shop, Jaeha looked at the weapons that had been prepared in advance and asked Penny, who was beside him.

“These?”

“Yes. That’s today’s allotted amount.”

“Not much today. Good. Let’s get this done quickly and move on to other things.”

Nodding, Jaeha immediately stoked the furnace and used Metallurgy to turn the weapons into items with his hammer. About an hour later, he’d converted all the weapons into items. Finishing the work, Jaeha plopped down onto a nearby chair to rest for a moment and started thinking.

‘If I want to get stronger, I need to obtain some skills.’

As he was mulling it over, Jaeha spotted the arrows lying nearby. He nodded and muttered to himself.

“I think it’s about time I learned…… Magic.”

There were too many types and it was a hassle, so he’d put off learning Magic until now. But there was no longer any reason to delay, and he’d judged that Magic was necessary to grow stronger, so Jaeha ultimately decided to learn it.

‘Magic, huh……’

Magic had an enormous number of branches. Most Mages, when first learning Magic, chose about three attributes from the four elements—Water, Fire, Wind, and Earth—selecting the ones they wanted or that suited them best.

The reason they didn’t learn all Magic was because Magic Proficiency worked differently from other skills.

Magic Proficiency worked in a format similar to enchanting. There was a base Proficiency for the skill called “Magic” itself, and then separate Proficiency for individual skills like Hellfire or Blizzard.

That was why many argued that it would be better to focus on learning Magic from just one attribute. Though that was ultimately a pointless argument anyway.

‘The skills you use as your mainstays at low circles are different from the ones you use at high circles. Whether you use one attribute or two, there’s no way your Proficiency will rise properly in the end.’

That was why most Mages only cared about the Proficiency of the “Magic” category and ignored individual Magic Proficiency.

“Of course, I’m not going to use Magic as my main focus, but since I’ve decided to learn it anyway, I should do it properly. That means I need to decide on an attribute in advance……”

In fact, thanks to the Five Elements Art, his affinity with the four main attributes was already at the highest level, so he didn’t need to worry about any burden when using those skills.

“Since I’m already going down this path, maybe I should go with something a bit more unusual instead of the four main attributes.”

As Jaeha mulled it over, a thought suddenly crossed his mind.

Having made that decision, Jaeha began searching for Magic videos from Circle 1 to Circle 3. Since nearly half of the Hunters who uploaded videos were Mages, finding them was easy.

“Circles 1 through 3 don’t depend on attribute, so I should get through those quickly.”

Muttering that to himself, Jaeha immediately started watching the videos.

“Finally mastered Circle 3.”

He’d spent about three hours just watching videos, but he’d only managed to complete up to Circle 3. It was because there were so many spells in Circles 1 and 2, though the number of skills did noticeably decrease as the circles went up.

Having mastered Circle 3, Jaeha stretched briefly before sitting back down to search for Circle 4 videos. After finding them, he stood up to go to the bathroom before watching. Then he opened his status window.

Nodding, Jaeha checked the detailed description of Magic.

Thinking that, Jaeha headed back to his room. Then he continued watching videos. After watching a ton of them, he stretched his arms wide.

‘I’ve seen everything up to Circle 6…… Is there a video of someone casting Circle 7 Magic?’

Jaeha then searched MuTube for Circle 7 spells. Fortunately, he was able to find quite a few. Not all of them were there, of course, but there were still several.

‘Luckily, all the Space-type spells are there.’

Space-type spells were quite popular. Many people admired spells like Teleport, and many liked them for the advantage of manipulating space.

And unlike the four main attribute spells, Space-type spells had many fascinating mechanisms, so a lot of people enjoyed watching them, which meant there were plenty of videos uploaded on MuTube.

‘Space-type……’

Of course, just because they were popular didn’t mean there were many Space-type skills. Among Circle 7 spells, there were only three Space-type spells in total.

The first spell Jaeha would learn was Teleport. Of course, Teleport didn’t mean he could freely fly to the opposite side of the Earth or anything like that.

It just allowed him to move across a much wider range than Blink. There was only one way to use Magic to travel to the opposite side of the planet.

‘Among Circle 8 spells, there’s something called gate. I recall that one can do it.’

Of course, the fact that it was a Circle 8 spell meant it was practically something out of legend, so there was almost no data on it at all.

‘The second spell to learn is Lucid Area.’

This spell controlled all mana existing within a certain space. It was a spell that brought sheer despair when fighting against Mages, but it wasn’t that popular. The reason it wasn’t popular was that its difficulty of use was close to hellish, so most people didn’t use it.

Rather, they couldn’t use it. Moreover, since it involved controlling a specific space, it consumed an enormous amount of mana.

‘The last skill is Meteor Swarm, huh.’

Most people assumed this spell wasn’t Space-type, but it definitely was. After all, it was a spell that summoned meteors from outer space.

‘I need to organize this quickly.’

Jaeha set aside his stray thoughts and began organizing all the 7th-circle spells. After carefully sorting through the four elemental skills one by one, he checked the skill’s information.

‘It got a synergy with Enchant. Well, that makes sense—once you learn magic, you can use the spells you’ve learned through Enchant, so it’s entirely possible.’

Of course, Enchant had been raised to 100% proficiency using skill points, but still.
