Chapter 89: Are You Threatening Me?

Chapter 89: Are You Threatening Me?

Taiji protected the group, preventing the Star Demons from crossing the line.

Jiang Changkong strode forward with his blade, Blade Qi crisscrossing the air as Star Demons fell rapidly.

Leading them out of the Star Demon encirclement, he occasionally picked out Star Stones along the way and tossed them to the soldiers.

These Star Stones were beneath his notice, but for the soldiers, they were valuable treasures.

“How many Star Stones would someone like Lord Jiang earn in a single day?”

A personal guard gazed at the Star Stones, his envy palpable.

“Once you reach the Star Sea, you’ll no longer care for them.”

Jiang Changkong chuckled lightly. Most of these were first-tier Star Stones, their Star Power pitifully weak.

In less than half an hour, they broke free from the Star Demon horde.

Once they were a safe distance away, Jiang Changkong wore an apologetic expression. “This place should be safe now. I apologize to you all once again.”

“Lord Jiang, there’s no need for that,” Liu Feng quickly replied. “From here on, we hope you’ll lend your strength to protect our lives.”

“Indeed,” a personal guard chimed in. “Zhao Qianjun is a scoundrel. Even if we escape this time, he might sell us out again later.”

“Earlier, I overheard Zhao Qianjun and Chu Tianxing plotting to kill Lord Jiang,” another personal guard said gravely. “Lord Jiang, Chu Tianxing isn’t here this time because he’s searching for you, intending to take your life.”

“Hmm?” Jiang Changkong’s expression turned cold. “Why? For no reason at all, they want me dead?”

“The two assassins sent after you earlier were dispatched by Chu Tianxing,” the guard explained. “They didn’t want you to learn about the Special Star Demon…”

Through the guard’s explanation, the ordinary soldiers finally understood the whole story.

They had captured the Special Star Demon to present to the Chu family, but unexpectedly, a Star Sea Peak Star Demon appeared and ruined their plans.

“The Chu family’s influence is vast…” one guard began, his face etched with worry, but he was cut off by another:

“The Chu family’s power is indeed immense, but they already want us dead. Why worry about offending them now?”

Liu Feng spoke up at the right moment. “Actually, I’ve also received information that the high-ranking military official Lu Wuhai bribed in the arms smuggling case was Zhao Qianjun.”

“What? It was Zhao Qianjun?” The soldiers present all paled in shock.

“The two assassins sent after me were from the Qingyun Demon Hunting Team, arms dealers,” Jiang Changkong said calmly.

“It’s just a shame there’s no evidence,” Liu Feng sighed, shaking his head.

“I know a bit about this matter too. All the evidence was burned,” a personal guard hesitated before adding, “When Lu Wuhai was arrested, Zhao Qianjun destroyed all the letters and contracts.”

“You know about this?” Jiang Changkong asked, slightly surprised.

“Only fragments of information, nothing substantial enough to serve as evidence,” the guard replied.

Liu Feng and Zhang Mo fell silent, their gazes subtly shifting toward an ordinary soldier.

Understanding their cue, the soldier spoke softly, “What if… we fabricate evidence?”

“Fabricate evidence?” The soldiers were momentarily stunned.

“Earlier, Liu Feng went to the Martial Market and found a batch of bombs. Before he could report them, he was transferred here,” the ordinary soldier explained.

Liu Feng slapped his forehead. “That’s right, there was a batch. I completely forgot about it.”

Jiang Changkong curled his lip. What a convincing act.

Zhang Mo’s face lit up with joy. “In that case, as long as we plant the bombs in Zhao Qianjun’s tent and take photos, we’ll have our evidence.”

“Exactly, then we’ll have the evidence,” the other soldiers exclaimed in delight.

“Not enough yet. If we can get Zhao Qianjun’s thousand-man commander seal and draft a transaction contract, then it would be perfect.”

A soldier said solemnly.

“How could Zhao Qianjun possibly write such a contract?” Everyone frowned.

“My name is Li Feng, I can write it. Many of Zhao Qianjun’s letters were written by me. Imitating his handwriting won’t be a problem at all,” the personal guard sneered.

“Perfect. Those bombs are extremely powerful. I’ll share some with Changkong.

Once we have the evidence ready, we can take them down directly.”

Liu Feng said gravely.

Jiang Changkong nodded slightly: “Alright. If both of them are severely injured, I can handle them.”

“It’s settled then.”

The group exchanged glances, discussed further, and Jiang Changkong watched them leave.

As for himself, he went to the location Liu Feng mentioned to retrieve the bombs.

In truth, there were no bombs there—he simply found a place to rest.

The bombs were left for Liu Feng. He still had some on hand, which he would hand over afterward.

Using these bombs to bring down a thousand-man commander wasn’t a loss.

He sat cross-legged, recovering his Star Power, quietly waiting for the right moment.

For now, Jiang Changkong wasn’t worried about the safety of these soldiers.

They were already on high alert. If Zhao Qianjun dared to kill them, things would become even simpler.

He waited until late at night when his phone rang—a message from a personal guard arrived, saying the plan had succeeded.

Without delay, Jiang Changkong headed straight to Zhao Qianjun’s location.

Amidst the overgrown weeds, the soldiers had quietly retreated, leaving only a solitary tent.

Jiang Changkong arrived silently, hearing voices from inside.

“Why are there Starlight Force Bombs here?”

“No markings, not military-issued. Could they be privately manufactured?”

“Could they have secretly kept some from before?”

“Possibly. Lu Wuhai might have hidden some bombs for his own use, but why would they appear here?”

A voice suddenly rang out: “You two, on such a fine night, hiding inside—don’t you find it stifling?”

“Who’s there?”

Both men rushed out of the tent, their expressions instantly changing: “Jiang Changkong?”

“So it’s you, Zhao Qianjun, colluding with Lu Wuhai.”

Jiang Changkong sneered, his blade unsheathing: “Elder Chu, I never expected you to be part of the Qingyun Demon Hunting Team as well.”

“Perfect timing—I couldn’t find you, and now you’re seeking death!”

Chu Tianxing roared, his sword slicing through the air, filled with moisture as a watery blade shot forth.

“Kill him.”

Zhao Qianjun didn’t hesitate for a moment, gripping his spear tightly. At this point, nothing else mattered—Jiang Changkong had to die.

Even if he could send out the message, he had to be eliminated.

“Perfect timing. Let me experience the prowess of the provincial capital’s genius.”

Jiang Changkong’s long blade ignited with golden flames, Star Power surging within him as immense energy converged into a single strike.

Boom

Vast Star Power, sixty percent transformed into blazing fire Star Power, the Golden Flame Mystical Blade erupted with dazzling flames, slashing downward.

Thud

Splat

Blood sprayed as Chu Tianxing was sent flying backward, staring at him in terror: “How… how is your strength so powerful?”

Hum

The spear arrived, but the protective Taiji Diagram trembled, unable to advance an inch!

Zhao Qianjun was stunned—his full-power strike couldn’t even break through the Taiji Diagram?

Is this the Mid Star Sea Stage?

“Farewell!”

Jiang Changkong sneered, abandoning his blade as both palms gathered Star Power—pure, unadulterated energy.

Immense Star Power converged into a golden sphere, continuously compressed and refined.

“Run…”

Both men’s expressions changed simultaneously. The Star Power within that sphere was too terrifying, so terrifying that even Star Sea Peak would be utterly defenseless against it.

If struck, they would meet only one fate—utter annihilation, leaving not even a trace of their bones!

With a flip of his palm, Jiang Changkong hurled the Star Power sphere away.

Boom!

A deafening explosion erupted, Star Power surging in all directions, instantly reducing the tent to ashes.

Golden light pierced through the night. Under the shockwave, the two men were sent flying, coughing up blood like tattered sandbags.

Weeds turned to dust, soil churned, and dust filled the air.

“This way, it looks like a bomb went off.”

Jiang Changkong gazed with satisfaction at the destruction he had caused. Bombs were too troublesome—using his own Star Power was far more satisfying.

“Jiang Changkong, you’ve hidden yourself well.”

Chu Tianxing, disheveled and covered in blood, struggled to his feet, looking utterly wretched.

Zhao Qianjun lay there, his breathing faint as a thread.

“I underestimated you. You can still stand,” Jiang Changkong remarked with slight surprise, though he remained unconcerned.

“But today, you will still die.”

Chu Tianxing’s face twisted into a ferocious expression as several golden spheres appeared in his hand, instantly hurling them toward Jiang Changkong. “Die, Starlight Force Bomb!”

Jiang Changkong’s expression turned grave. Taiji enveloped his body in defense, and the Bronze Skin Iron Bone Technique was unleashed to its fullest in an instant.

Thud, thud.

The golden spheres fell to the ground, rolled a few times, and then fell silent.

Jiang Changkong: “…”

Are you fucking kidding me?

Chu Tianxing stared blankly. Were these bombs defective?
