Chapter 114 – 【Demon Binding】
Chapter 114 – 【Demon Binding】
The term “Silver Arm” is commonly understood to refer to the right arm of the God King Nuada.
He is the King of the Tuatha Dé Danann, worshipped by the ancient Celts in Celtic mythology, and is regarded as the embodiment of the ideal ancient world king conveyed to modern times.
As the King of the Tuatha Dé Danann in Celtic mythology, Nuada was originally a god of war who wielded the Sword of Victory, symbolizing invincibility and triumph.
However, this God King lost his right arm after being injured in battle against local deities while leading his forces in an invasion of Ireland.
For Nuada’s sake, the god of healing crafted a silver metallic arm.
Upon equipping this silver metallic arm, Nuada gained miraculous power capable of splitting the earth, altering terrain, and even cleaving the sea.
Thus, the so-called “Silver Arm” came into being, referring to this God King’s right arm and symbolizing immense power.
Su Ming’s right hand also possessed the power to split the earth and alter terrain, so he simply named the power within this arm “Silver Arm.”
Although he had only possessed the “Silver Arm” for a short time, perhaps due to the Nightmare Species Bloodline continuously transforming his body, Su Ming gradually gained control over the arm’s power over time.
Because of this, Su Ming managed to grasp a portion of the right arm’s capabilities.
The tenfold strength it could exert compared to other body parts in its normal state went without saying. Additionally, Su Ming gained some understanding of the cerulean light power residing within this right arm.
Simply put, when utilizing this power, Su Ming’s right hand could ignore the target’s resistance and directly inflict existential damage.
So, what does “ignoring the target’s resistance” mean?
In a nutshell, it means disregarding defense, the target’s inherent resistance, and fixed properties.
Does the opponent have sturdy armor or scales, or can they apply other forms of defense?
Ignored!
Does the opponent lack a physical form, making them immune to physical attacks?
Ignored!
Is the opponent massive in size, requiring attacks of a certain magnitude to be effective?
Ignored!
Has the opponent used special items or potions, rendering them invincible until the duration expires?
All ignored!
Even if the opponent has specific resistances that require attacks with particular attributes of Spirit Art, Su Ming’s “Silver Arm” can still ignore these properties and directly crush them!
This is what it means to ignore the target’s resistance—no matter what defensive measures the opponent takes, none can effectively block the attack.
As for the term “existential damage,” it is even easier to understand.
To summarize, once severely injured by the power of the “Silver Arm,” recovery through supernatural means becomes impossible.
The Phantom Demon’s extraordinary regenerative abilities are ineffective against this power.
The same applies to the healing and restorative potions painstakingly crafted by Alchemists.
Once harmed by the power of the “Silver Arm,” aside from natural recovery, no other methods of treatment can be used.It was precisely because of this that the Phantom Demons, previously annihilated by the full-powered nuclear blast of the [Silver Arm], were completely vaporized and would not reappear. Even the devastated land might be permanently reduced to ruins. Unless artificially restored, it would take an unknown amount of time for natural recovery to occur.
This was the power characteristic of the [Silver Arm] that Su Ming had deduced.
Leveraging this trait, Su Ming could effortlessly breach the scale defenses of the Scaled Horn Demon Mutant, directly damaging its flesh. Not only did this inflict severe wounds, but it also prevented rapid regeneration through its recovery abilities.
“The only downside is the substantial consumption—the power output directly correlates to the current magic expenditure.”
Sensing the depletion of magic within him, Su Ming calculated and confirmed the loss amounted to exactly one percent of his total magic.
In other words, the magic consumed by an [Silver Arm] attack corresponded directly to its power output.
One percent power consumed one percent magic.
Ten percent power consumed ten percent magic.
And so on. If Su Ming went all out, it would mean one hundred percent power and one hundred percent magic consumption, completely exhausting his internal reserves.
But there were advantages too.
“As long as I continue to grow and my magic keeps increasing, the power of the [Silver Arm] will also grow stronger.”
If one day Su Ming possessed enough magic to destroy the world, then a full-powered punch from him might truly be capable of annihilating the entire world.
Of course, that was just a thought. Even with the assistance of his Golden Finger, achieving that level of Phantom Demon Power seemed far-fetched to Su Ming.
However, the ideal of being invincible under heaven was something Su Ming still believed attainable.
“As for now…”
Su Ming retracted his right hand, wrapping it in bandages while glancing at the Scaled Horn Demon Mutant writhing in agony on the ground.
Then, he extended his left hand.
A ring array appeared on it.
It was a somewhat peculiar ring array.
When ordinary Sorcerers used Spirit Arts, the ring arrays that appeared on their bodies were golden, appearing noble and sacred.
But the ring array on Su Ming’s hand was an eerie black.
Moreover, while the ring arrays of ordinary Sorcerers were fixed in size, perfectly encircling the wrist, the one on Su Ming’s hand continuously expanded and contracted, fluctuating up and down, seeming highly unstable.
Under these conditions, Su Ming struggled to activate the Spell Formula, slowly channeling Spirit Power.
“Isn’t this too slow?”
Su Ming inwardly sighed.
At such a slow speed, it would be impossible to smoothly deploy the Spell Formula during combat.
“As expected of an extra-sequence art—a Spell Formula outside the spiritual rules is just this complex and troublesome to use.”
If not for this, the status of extra-sequence Spirit Arts wouldn’t be so ambiguous.
Fortunately, the Spell Formula Su Ming was using wasn’t intended for combat.
It was one that could only be utilized after the battle concluded.
Because of this, the greatest flaw of extra-sequence Spirit Arts wasn’t a significant issue for this particular Spell Formula.Su Ming patiently channeled the spell formula, continuing until he had infused sufficient spirit power through it. Only then did he raise his hand, allowing a black circular array to float out from his wrist and hover above his palm.
“Zero Form: Demon Restraint.”
This was the name of this unlisted sequence Spirit Art.
“Zero Form” referred to its unlisted, extra-sequential nature.
“Demon Binding” was the formal name of this spell.
After his spirit power had greatly increased, Su Ming continuously activated his Vision Mark for analysis and reconstruction, finally enabling the preliminary execution of this unlisted spell.
“Bzzz…”
Amidst a surge of spirit power and swirling air currents, a sharp spear composed purely of spirit power, roughly palm-sized, materialized in Su Ming’s palm.
“Gurgle-gah!”
The Scaled Horn Demon Mutant seemed to sense danger, letting out a fierce but hollow roar while struggling to rise despite its pain.
“Stay put!”
Su Ming stomped his foot on the Scaled Horn Demon Mutant’s body, pressing it down and preventing its struggles.
This was the slave he had carefully selected after impatiently rushing out from the camp upon initially completing Demon Binding.
If Demon Binding succeeded, unless Su Ming used the subdued Phantom Demon as a consumable item, he would need to continuously expend spirit power to maintain the existence of the spirit spear in order to keep the subdued Phantom Demon under control.
This meant that if Su Ming didn’t want to waste large amounts of spirit power needlessly, he had to carefully choose which Phantom Demon to subdue.
Otherwise, subduing a bunch of weaklings would not only be largely useless but would also pointlessly consume spirit power—more loss than gain.
Therefore, Su Ming decided that his targets for subjugation must at minimum not be overly weak Phantom Demons.
He would never consider lower-tier Phantom Demons like Screaming Demons or Rotwater Demons, which were relatively weak. While Shadow Stalker Demons and Blade Demons had their specialties, they were only barely satisfactory. Only those lower-tier Phantom Demons renowned for their combat prowess would catch Su Ming’s eye.
With this in mind, Su Ming had targeted more combat-oriented lower-tier Phantom Demons like Trolls and Scaled Horn Demons from the start.
Encountering a Scaled Horn Demon Mutant could be considered a tremendous surprise.
Under these circumstances, Su Ming naturally couldn’t let this Scaled Horn Demon Mutant escape.
Its strength, comparable to a Four-Star Professional who hadn’t activated their Vision Mark or used Demonization, was truly the optimal choice for Su Ming, who still didn’t dare target upper-tier Phantom Demons.
“Thump!”
Immediately, Su Ming gripped the spirit spear and drove it through the Scaled Horn Demon Mutant’s chest.
Worried that the creature’s scale defense might block the spirit spear from reaching its heart, Su Ming had deliberately used his Silver Arm’s power on its chest earlier, shattering all of the Scaled Horn Demon Mutant’s defenses to create favorable conditions for using Demon Binding.
Thanks to this, the spirit spear smoothly pierced through the Scaled Horn Demon Mutant’s chest, penetrating deep into its flesh.
“Gurgle-gah-gah-gah!”
The Scaled Horn Demon Mutant let out agonized screams, struggling frantically like a dying beast.
Unfortunately, this could no longer prevent the spirit spear from entering its body.
The spirit spear sank into the Scaled Horn Demon Mutant’s chest and reached its heart.
At this moment, the Scaled Horn Demon Mutant instinctively realized. His life had now become the possession of the demon before him.
“Not behaving obediently won’t do, you know?”
Su Ming spoke with a beaming smile.
“If you don’t obey, that hard, thick little rod will pierce through you and cause massive internal bleeding, making you lose your strength and the blood that serves as your power source, you know?”
As he spoke, Su Ming activated the Spirit Power spear, causing the Scaled Horn Demon Mutant to feel a wave of heart-wrenching agony.
“Gurgle! Gurgle gurgle gurgle!”
The Scaled Horn Demon Mutant could only howl in pain, struggling and thrashing incessantly, stirring up clouds of dust all around. Even chunks of rock were shattered by the immensely suffering Scaled Horn Demon Mutant’s violent impacts.
After ten minutes of such agonizing struggle, the Scaled Horn Demon Mutant finally chose to submit, lowering its noble head before Su Ming.
Seeing this, Su Ming smiled with satisfaction once more.
