Chapter 62 – How About You Take a Guess?
Chapter 62 – How About You Take a Guess?
Amid the crimson sea of flames, Su Ming had appeared beside Xu Qianqian at some unknown moment, looking down at her from above, his figure completely dominating her field of vision.
Xu Qianqian couldn’t make out Su Ming’s expression at this moment, nor could she imagine what lay beneath his mask.
Yet inexplicably, she resisted from the depths of her heart letting Su Ming see her vulnerable state.
It reminded her of that night.
The night when she was severely injured and lost control, clashing with the man before her.
“Urgh…”
Gritting her teeth, Xu Qianqian clutched her chest, ignoring the pain throughout her body, and struggled to rise.
“Here.”
Su Ming produced a vial of alchemical potion from somewhere and tossed it to Xu Qianqian.
Instinctively catching it, Xu Qianqian glanced at Su Ming, then at the vial in her hand, before unhesitatingly uncorking it and downing the contents.
As the potion entered her system, she immediately felt a cool stream flowing through her body, alleviating much of her pain. Her condition visibly recovered at a remarkable pace.
Only then did Xu Qianqian finally have the capacity to observe her surroundings.
Everything within sight was now blanketed in fiery red.
Warehouse Street had transformed into an inferno.
The Underground Professionals had vanished without a trace.
“You… dealt with all of them?”
Xu Qianqian’s gaze toward Su Ming shifted with newfound intensity.
Su Ming didn’t respond.
Truthfully, he himself was startled.
Originally, Su Ming had planned to first rescue the Phantom Demon Cub, then take advantage of the enemy’s pursuit to slowly eliminate them using the highly effective concealment potion Xu Qianqian had given him, combined with various ambush tools from his backpack.
Unexpectedly, the power of his Spirit Art had increased so dramatically, producing astonishing results that rendered most of his prepared methods unnecessary. Only one or two had been employed before the enemies were completely neutralized.
Though the outcome was due to a combination of factors—catching the enemy off guard, Xu Qianqian’s alchemical potion, perfect timing, and the enemies’ mission constraints—Su Ming had indeed single-handedly eliminated nine Two-Star Professionals and nineteen One-Star Professionals.
Such achievements would be considered dazzling even for a Three-Star Professional, let alone a second-year student at the Demon Hunter Academy.
This unequivocally revealed one truth to Su Ming:
After his Spirit Power’s tremendous surge, his strength had genuinely increased.
And it wasn’t just a minor improvement.
Moreover, during that instant when he fully unleashed his Spirit Art, Su Ming had sensed through his own spirituality that his Physique seemed to have undergone some indescribable transformation.
What exactly that change entailed, Su Ming didn’t yet know.
But he had a speculation.
If that speculation proved correct, then he might have truly undergone a rebirth.
Naturally, he didn’t voice these thoughts in front of Xu Qianqian.
He simply lifted his gaze toward the distance.
“Let’s discuss the rest later. For now, prepare to face the most troublesome enemy.”
No sooner had Su Ming’s words fallen than an astonishing scene unfolded ahead.
“Whoosh—!”With a roar, a massive container was hurled through the air, plummeting from the sky toward Su Ming and Xu Qianqian.
“Twenty-Eighth Form: Spiral Fire.”
Without hesitation, Su Ming unleashed a Spirit Art at the falling container.
“Boom!”
A spiral of flames shot skyward, striking the incoming container and violently blasting it apart.
A fiery spectacle bloomed mid-air.
But as the explosion erupted, a figure accompanied by a sonic boom descended at incredible speed.
Who else could it be but Yi Junchuan?
The boss of the Underground Professional group was livid, veins bulging, his black clothes tattered and torn. Ignoring his disheveled state, he gripped his massive blade and swung it downward at Su Ming from above.
His slash was like a crashing thunderbolt, its momentum akin to a devil descending from the heavens, terrifying to the extreme.
“Watch out!”
Xu Qianqian reached out, seemingly preparing to push Su Ming aside.
But before she could, Su Ming pressed a hand on her shoulder.
“He won’t make it over.”
Su Ming’s tone was brimming with confidence.
Almost simultaneously, an anomaly occurred around Yi Junchuan as he descended with his thunderous strike.
“Boom!”
An explosion erupted without warning beside Yi Junchuan, sending him flying.
“Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!…”
One after another, explosions followed in rapid succession, tossing Yi Junchuan back and forth, leaving him trembling and battered.
“Aaaaaah…!”
Yi Junchuan couldn’t help but scream in agony.
“This…”
Xu Qianqian was momentarily stunned before she suddenly noticed tiny bubbles floating around Yi Junchuan.
It was unmistakably the Thirty-Third Form previously used by the Two-Star Sorcerer among the Underground Professionals—Bubble Mine.
However, compared to the Bubble Mine cast by that Two-Star Sorcerer, the ones Yi Junchuan encountered were incredibly stealthy.
They had been compressed to the size of marbles, making them nearly impossible to detect without careful observation.
And there was no need to wonder who was responsible.
“Thirty-Third Form: Bubble Mine.”
Su Ming raised his arm high, four hovering ring arrays shimmering above it. As the arrays fluctuated, countless marble-sized bubbles drifted down like snowflakes from the sky, floating gently toward Yi Junchuan.
“Get away from me!”
Yi Junchuan’s figure was already engulfed in explosions, his voice tinged with pain, yet he roared furiously, sweeping his massive blade to generate a powerful gust that blew the incoming bubbles away.
But just as Yi Junchuan prepared to press his attack, his movements abruptly halted.
“Clatter…”
Invisible chains had somehow wrapped around his body, binding him mid-air.
Without a doubt, this was yet another of Su Ming’s doing.
“I’m not the type to stand idly by, mindlessly casting Spirit Arts, you know?”
Su Ming gazed at the enraged Yi Junchuan, his voice low and sardonic.
“Care to guess how many Spell Formulas I set up around here before I even showed up?”Obviously, given Su Ming’s personality, he wouldn’t stride out so openly just because of some misplaced confidence, thinking he could take on Yi Junchuan one-on-one.
He had already laid numerous traps in advance, just like when he wiped out those Underground Professionals earlier, waiting for Yi Junchuan to step into them.
“Who are you…!?”
Yi Junchuan roared, struggling fiercely.
“Tell me! Who are you!?”
The hatred and fury in his voice were impossible to conceal.
In response, Su Ming grinned beneath his mask.
“Guess?”
As he spoke, circular arrays began to appear one after another on Su Ming’s hands.
There were six circular arrays in total.
The sight sent a shock through Yi Junchuan’s heart, finally stirring fear within him.
When using Spirit Arts, the more circular arrays that appear on a Sorcerer’s body, the higher the sequence of the art being employed.
When using Spirit Arts of sequence 1-10, only one circular array appears on the Sorcerer.
For sequence 11-20, two circular arrays manifest.
This pattern continues, with the maximum of ten circular arrays appearing when employing the highest-level Spirit Arts of sequence 91-100.
In this situation, with six circular arrays appearing on Su Ming’s body, what did it mean?
It meant the next Spirit Art he intended to use belonged to sequence 51-60.
And Spirit Arts above sequence 60 were already Advanced Spirit Arts capable of altering heaven and earth.
Spirit Arts of sequence 51-60 were precisely the series closest to Advanced Spirit Arts—their power was self-evident.
In the Professional community, only Three-Star Sorcerers and a rare few exceptionally talented Two-Star Sorcerers had mastered Spirit Arts of this sequence.
The two Two-Star Sorcerers in Yi Junchuan’s former team, for instance, couldn’t use any Spirit Arts above sequence 50.
Now, it seemed his opponent was preparing to finish him off with the most powerful series of Intermediate Spirit Arts.
“Don’t think…”
Stimulated by the crisis, the crimson in Yi Junchuan’s eyes deepened.
“Don’t think you’ve got me cornered! You bastard!!”
With a furious roar, Yi Junchuan strained to raise his hand, dragging invisible chains as he laboriously reached into his chest.
Soon, he pulled out a potion vial.
“What is he trying to do?”
Xu Qianqian noticed this and instantly grew wary.
As for Su Ming, it didn’t take a genius to figure it out—his opponent, unable to match him in combat, was preparing to take a potion.
“Taking potions when you can’t win—how typical.”
Su Ming immediately abandoned the high-sequence Spirit Art he was preparing and switched to the fastest-casting spell formula—【Flying Arrow】.
“Boom!”
An invisible shockwave erupted on Yi Junchuan’s hand, blasting the potion vial away.
Su Ming didn’t even give Yi Junchuan a chance to take the potion.
However, Yi Junchuan’s next move left even Su Ming stunned.
“Raaaaaagh…!”With a savage roar, Yi Junchuan actually tore off his own arm, freeing half his body from the constraints of the Stasis Lock.”
Then, he lunged forward, opening his mouth to bite the potion vial mid-air and shattering it with a fierce crunch.
“Bang!”The fragments of the potion bottle exploded in Yi Junchuan’s mouth, leaving his mouth riddled with cuts and dripping with blood.
Yet Yi Junchuan ignored this torturous pain, swallowing both the fragments and the potion within them.
“What?”
Xu Qianqian’s face showed shock.
“Holy shit!”
Su Ming was also stunned.
No one had expected Yi Junchuan to be so ruthless, so fierce.
But the result of this action was undoubtedly rewarding.
An astonishing Aura surged from Yi Junchuan’s body.
That Aura was fierce, brutal.
