Chapter 129 – Chaos Begins to Emerge!

Chapter 129 – Chaos Begins to Emerge!

Great Li Mountains.

Within the mountain forest.

The roars of Star Beasts echoed incessantly, their piercing howls reverberating through the pine woods. The soil was soaked with blood, crimson and soft, presenting a scene of gruesome chaos.

Star Beasts tore at each other, sharp fangs piercing through intestines and stomachs. The bloodthirsty red glow in their eyes surged as if they were lost in an endless killing intent.

The turbulent roars traveled through the gaps in the forest, reaching all the way to the deepest parts of the mountains.

…….

Mist Valley.

Shrouded in mist.

A Black-Robed Man knelt on one knee, facing the mist in the valley as he reported.

“Venerable One! This subordinate has finally uncovered everything… Currently, there are only three Innate Warriors in Jianghai City: Li Daoming, the head of the Li Family; the dean of Jianghai Enlightenment Academy; and the Police Inspector Commander responsible for resisting the Star Beasts.”

“Anything else? No other experts?”

From within the valley, a faint voice emerged.

“There is, Venerable One! There’s one more old-timer!”

The Black-Robed Man whispered: “And he’s above the Grandmaster Realm. He’s the former commander of the Star Martial Police Department, now hiding atop the city wall, serving as Jianghai’s entry gatekeeper.”

“Oh? An entry gatekeeper?”

The voice from the valley chuckled softly: “So there’s another one hidden? These old fools do love their surprises.”

“Exactly as you say, Venerable One.”

The Black-Robed Man looked up toward the valley: “This former commander lurks on the city wall, specifically responsible for detecting illegal border crossers. It’s rarely publicized.”

“Hmph, no matter! Let him detect! When the time comes and the Beast Tide passes through, we won’t need to sneak in through the gates anyway.”

The voice from the valley laughed recklessly: “By then, the Star Beasts from the mountains will advance triumphantly and directly breach the city walls. Why bother with some insignificant main gate?”

“Brilliant insight, Venerable One!”

The Black-Robed Man raised his head, a flash of excitement in his eyes: “One more thing, Venerable One. Li Daoming went to the Imperial Capital recently. It seems those people have detected movement and are already taking precautions.”

“Precautions?”

“Indeed, Venerable One,”

the Black-Robed Man whispered, continuing his report: “This subordinate has received word that Li Daoming urgently convened a large meeting at the Police Department, rallying everyone to prepare against the Beast Tide.

Meanwhile, his Li Family has begun gathering materials to reinforce the City Defense Array. Now everyone is united, and the defensive firepower on the city walls is fully stocked, far beyond what it was before.”

As his words fell.

The valley suddenly fell silent.

The person inside said nothing more, seemingly deep in contemplation.

The distant roars of Star Beasts faintly echoed as the Black-Robed Man stood silently in place, quietly awaiting the Venerable One’s deliberation.

After a moment.

Mountain winds swept through before the weathered voice spoke again.

“No matter. Since these few are causing trouble, I’ll send people to eliminate them first. You just need to dispatch some agents to Jianghai City to stir up trouble.

I want all of Jianghai to descend into chaos first. When the thousand-mile dike collapses from an ant hole, everything will naturally fall into place.”

As the words ended.

The Black-Robed Man nodded.

“Yes, Venerable One, rest assured. This subordinate will see to it immediately.”

………….

Inside Jianghai Library.

That day, Qin Yang sat in a corner slacking off, with Xiaobai curled in his lap serving as an elbow rest while comfortably scrolling through short videos on her phone.

After watching several videos of young women.

Suddenly.

Ding!

A red notification popped up in the alert bar at the top of the screen.【Attention all citizens: In recent days, heretical cultists have been causing disturbances within the city. Please minimize nighttime outings, travel in groups whenever possible, and avoid…】

The alert notification swiftly scrolled past.

“Huh? Heretical cultists?”

Qin Yang froze momentarily before quickly tapping the headline to check the news warning.

It was a city-wide announcement, accompanied by several pixelated images—crimson and distorted—where even through the blur, one could sense the gruesomeness of the scene.

“Are the demonkin back again?”

“Why now of all times?”

Qin Yang frowned slightly, recalling Xia He’s earlier reminder. With everything happening at once, Jianghai City was struggling to cope with both natural and man-made disasters.

He closed his eyes, extending his mental energy to envelop the library, eavesdropping on nearby conversations.

Sure enough, many were discussing the incident.

“Did you see the news? They’re back again—could this be a lingering effect from the previous Bloodthirsty Leeches?”

“Anyone have uncensored photos? I’ve got some scene shots someone just sent me.”

“Send them over. I heard the victims died horribly…”

“Ah, Jianghai just can’t catch a break. I’m planning to move away.”

For a moment, unease permeated the library.

……

“This isn’t good.”

Scrolling through the news and examining the blurred photos, Qin Yang grew concerned about Xia He.

The Star Martial Police Department was already stretched thin dealing with the beast tide, critically short-handed. Now with these heretical cultists causing trouble, they’d likely be pushed to exhaustion.

“The frontline officers are overworked. That guy probably has to pull all-nighters.”

Qin Yang sighed, pondered for a moment, then sent Xia He a message arranging to meet. Setting down his phone, he took out several starstones and began carving array inscriptions.

After all, having known Xia He this long, he ought to offer some support.

…………

Time passed swiftly, and afternoon arrived.

Approaching the end of the workday.

At the library entrance, Xia He appeared in his police uniform, looking utterly exhausted. He headed straight inside to Qin Yang’s usual spot in Zone 1.

“What’s up, Old Qin?”

Rubbing his eyes and yawning, Xia He asked, “Why’d you call me over so suddenly? If it’s nothing urgent, I’m going back to sleep. Just finished overtime and I’m dead tired.”

“Is it about the heretical cultists?Qin Yang, holding Xiaobai, tentatively asked.

“Yeah, those damn beasts! You saw the news too, right?Xin He’s face flushed with anger, his voice rising excitedly. “Goddamn it, I’ve had it!!! Of all times to cause trouble, they pick when we’re already swamped!”

“Working late every night—do they even let people rest?”

His booming voice echoed through the library corridors.

“Shh!”

Qin Yang raised a finger to his lips, whispering, “No loud noises in the library.”

“Sorry, I’m just so furious.”

Xia He lowered his volume with a sigh. “Let me tell you, Old Qin, I’ve been assigned to a special task force to capture those demonkin.”

“Be careful.”

Hearing this, Qin Yang reached into his pocket and pulled out several starstones, handing them to Xia He. “I made these arrays in my spare time. Keep them on you. If you’re ever in danger, just channel star power into them against any star beasts to activate the formations.”

“You made these yourself, Old Qin?”Xia He took the Starstone, examining the exquisite Array Inscription with a hint of skepticism. “You know Array Formations too?”

“Just skimmed some books during idle moments.”

Qin Yang shook his head, casually fabricating an explanation. “Read enough to pick up bits and pieces.”

Hearing this,

Xia He immediately leaned back in tactical disbelief, taking a step backward.

“I don’t believe it! Last time with Alchemy, you said the exact same thing!!!”
