Chapter 189: Endless Demonic Sea
Chapter 189: Endless Demonic Sea
After Lilia left, Jiang Yan continued his cultivation journey.
First, he practiced the “Annihilating Cloud Slash,” and then, while waiting for the Instance to open, he sparred with other characters who had already cleared it.
Of course, the Qi absorption work of the Chaotic Void Ancestral Spirit continued steadily, with everything progressing favorably.
After the fierce battles with the Heaven Demon Sect followers, Jiang Yan’s War Ruins Engravings had condensed to twenty-eight. He could likely gain more through the Prodigy Championship led by Lightning Studio. Once his strength reached the Source Domain Realm, he might consider venturing into the Universe for exploration and conquest.
Jiang Yan’s schedule was packed. A day passed, and the Battle Space finally served up a new Instance.
Instance: Endless Demonic Sea.
Introduction: “In the Milky Way Universe, where gods and demons are absent, demons reign supreme.”
“Countless demons hold sway, unrivaled in a chaotic era. Flesh and blood serve as sacrifices, living beings as altars.”
“Endless Demonic Sea, the ancestral nest of ten thousand demons.”
Instance Mission: You must eliminate all demonic creatures within the Instance.
Note: You have only one Revival Chance. After losing all Revival Chances, you will restart the challenge for the [Endless Demonic Sea].
Instance Rewards: One Self-Selected Trait opportunity, one random Advanced Trait.
After carefully reviewing the Instance details, Jiang Yan sighed, realizing he truly had a fated rivalry with “demons.”
Back then, it was because he killed Pei Qin that he became entangled in Karma with the Heaven Demon Sect, which also brought him into the public eye on Tianyuan Star.
He never expected to encounter old acquaintances even in an Instance. This suggested that the Instance’s generation was likely intentional rather than pre-prepared.
“Endless Demonic Sea?”
Jiang Yan scoffed. “A single demon is enough to give Tianyuan Star a headache, yet they expect a mere Sixth Rank Martial Artist like me to challenge the nest of countless demons? They really think too highly of me.”
However…
“The rewards are quite good, actually offering two Traits.”
The Self-Selected Trait goes without saying—so far, there hasn’t been a bad one.
The random Advanced Trait is also quite decent, meaning Jiang Yan is guaranteed to roll a useful Trait.
Not to mention, he still has one [Heaven Rewards Diligence] as a safety net. Earning three Traits from one Instance—now that’s top-tier value for effort.
With this in mind, Jiang Yan was already eager to challenge this “demonic lair.”
One minute later.
The Instance door slowly opened, a deep, eerie light seeping through the crack like unseen eyes secretly gazing at Jiang Yan.
Jiang Yan didn’t bother with formalities—he kicked the door open and leaped inside.
Thud!
Jiang Yan landed from above, sensing something sticky beneath his feet.
He lifted his foot, but the sticky substance clung stubbornly to his sole, refusing to let go for a moment.
“Ah, forget it, it’s yours.”
Jiang Yan performed a “golden cicada shedding its shell,” leaving his shoe for the annoying creature below.
Only then did he raise his head to observe his surroundings.
The so-called Endless Demonic Sea was indeed grand.
The azure sky was replaced by blood-black miasma, and dim, lightless space was haunted by fierce, vengeful spirits.
Everywhere was mired in flesh and mud, piled with bones. At the forefront stood a corpse so massive it nearly touched the dome.
The enormous body filled Jiang Yan’s entire field of vision, making it impossible to discern where it ended or what its exact contours were.
The towering skeleton was covered in dried, foul-smelling rotting flesh, crawling with dense, white maggots.
Rows of ominous black crows stood neatly, pecking at the foul flesh clinging to them.
“Is this a demon?”
“Or a great master slain by demons?”
Jiang Yan voiced his doubts, unable to grasp the significance of this skeleton’s appearance.
Even from a distance, he felt his mind tremble, as if an extremely evil demon was about to break free from within him.
This was the suppression from life itself—even in death, the aura of a powerful being remained.
It was hard to believe that such a formidable figure had fallen in the Endless Demonic Sea.
Just how terrifying were the demons here?
Tap—tap—
Intermittent sounds echoed from behind.
Jiang Yan did not turn around. The Chaotic Void Domain automatically expanded.
Crimson-gold Battle Intent surged into existence, its massive true form blotting out the sky. A Saber followed his will.
He swung the Saber.
With a momentum like piercing a rainbow.
A crack appeared out of thin air, then expanded into an abyssal chasm.
Swoosh.
The Saber Qi struck the monster behind him with pinpoint accuracy.
Jiang Yan teleported away. In his line of sight, a twisting black shadow floated.
Above its head, two words automatically appeared:
“Yin Demon.”
Jiang Yan grinned cruelly and said, “Pei Qin, I think I’ve found your ancestor.”
Without another word, he unleashed the Yan Thunder Destruction Slash. Thousands of Saber rays swept forth.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The ground was blasted into a vacuum, countless scars crisscrossing the air. Yet, the shadow in mid-air kept teleporting—no!
It should be said it was darting through the air at an incredibly fast speed.
It brushed past the Saber rays, untouched.
Boom!
The Yin Demon swung its claws, igniting scorching black flames in the air. The space it passed through shattered and collapsed inch by inch, an unparalleled sense of oppression rapidly closing in.
This was a Yin Demon that had evolved even more successfully than Pei Qin.
“War Ruins Engraving.”
Jiang Yan silently chanted. Instantly, twenty-eight blood-red engravings materialized around his body.
Scarlet rays erupted collectively.
The Yin Demon was sent flying backward, plummeting into a bottomless abyss.
With a fierce glare, Jiang Yan directed Saber rays, engravings, and the Annihilating Cloud Slash toward the abyss.
Blood surged, sand and dust filled the sky. The skeletons long buried underground finally saw the light of day once more.
Jiang Yan narrowed his eyes, using his Spiritual Power to sense.
The “smoke without injury” law applied, and even more so since the opponent was a demon—not to be underestimated.
But at some unknown moment, a chill ran down Jiang Yan’s spine.
Behind him.
Boom!
Jiang Yan crashed into the ground. The War Ruins Engravings shattered simultaneously, but the Heaven-Slaying Battle Qi protected him just in time, sparing his life.
His Qi and Blood churned violently, and a mouthful of crimson blood sprayed out.
In his blood-red vision, the Yin Demon stared at Jiang Yan with a sinister grin.
“When?” Jiang Yan wondered in confusion.
He felt a Devilish Qi, unstoppable as a breaking bamboo, surge through his limbs and bones, wandering within his flesh and blood as if trying to tear him apart.
Even though Jiang Yan had been cautious enough, even scanning the area fully with his Spiritual Power, he had still been ambushed.
Fast!
Too fast!
Jiang Yan guessed that the opponent had likely emerged from the abyss beneath his Spiritual Power perception, appearing behind him to deliver a devastating blow.
This was all about speed—unparalleled speed, so fast it could even blur Spiritual Power perception.
Moreover, the Yin Demon was not only fast; its strength could even rival Zhuangzhuang’s.
How Heaven-Defying was this? It was simply on a different level compared to Pei Qin back then.
Wrapped in Devilish Qi, Jiang Yan’s blood vessels turned pitch-black. The dark, streaky “tattoos” made his face appear even more bewitching.
But soon, the Chaotic Void Ancestral Spirit exerted its power once more, greedily opening its abyssal maw to devour all the encroaching Devilish Qi.
Qi locked on. Law of the Jungle.
Jiang Yan closed his eyes, no longer relying on superficial senses. In the depths of his mind, the Yin Demon’s figure moved at high speed across a virtual plane.
Behind it, a fist once again struck out.
This time.
“I see you now.”
The battle shadow roared, swinging its broad saber and bringing a fierce gale crashing down upon the Yin Demon’s head.
