Chapter 8 – Floor 2
Chapter 8 – Floor 2
[You have entered Floor 2.]
The darkness faded, and light returned.
Gangwoo stood still, surveying his surroundings.
Ancient temple-styled wall tiles, a stone hearth.
He sharpened his Senses, probing the area. No obvious danger.
Having secured his safety, Gangwoo checked the quest right away.
There was plenty to do—checking rewards, allocating Level-Up points—but the Floor 2 objective mattered most.
After all, his goal was to earn a high Player ranking.
[Tower of Tutorial (Floor 2) — Defeat the master of Floor 2!]
Description: Defeat the master of Floor 2.
Reward: Tower of Tutorial Supply Box (Floor 2), 500 Gold
(Pathfinding)
No time limit, no harsh conditions—just concise and simple.
Kill whatever — or whoever — ruled this floor.
Would there be an NPC like Antero? Or maybe a Monster.
Gangwoo’s eyes narrowed.
‘A barrier?’
Looking more closely, he spotted a blue light screen ahead. This area must be a safe zone.
No need to rush, then.
He had time to check rewards and allocate Stats.
The place seemed designed for exactly that.
Gangwoo plopped down onto the floor.
Sticky blood caked his whole body, his discomfort index spiking through the roof. But his mood was never better.
‘First, let’s check the rewards.’
Gangwoo opened his Inventory and pulled out the items awarded as compensation.
[Antero’s Gift (SS-Rank)]
Grade:??
Description: A gift prepared by Antero. Contains items useful for climbing the Tower. (Rewards vary according to rank.)
The box looked like something you’d receive on Christmas morning.
Gangwoo allowed a small smile to touch his lips as he studied the rank. He’d worked hard for a high grade, sure—but this exceeded even his expectations.
‘A Skill Catalog would be nice.’
Maybe it was the rank, but anticipation soared through him.
*Thump—thump—*
Shoving his racing heart aside, Gangwoo opened the box.
*Ding-*
[You have used Antero’s Gift (SS-Rank).]
[Lowest-Grade HP Recovery Potion x2]
[Lowest-Grade MP Recovery Potion x2]
[You acquired a Mana-Imbued Pistol.]
[You acquired x20 Lowest-Grade Mana Bullets.]
[20,000 Gold]
At the cheerful notification, items practically spilled out in a cascade.
The first thing to catch his eye was the gold.
Twenty thousand Gold—he didn’t know the exact exchange rate, but it was roughly worth 200,000 won.
Gangwoo opened his Inventory to confirm the total.
His eyes went wide as he checked the gold count.
[100,100 Gold]
“What the—?”
Come to think of it, there *had* been a flurry of system chimes when he killed that Orc.
And apparently, eighty thousand Gold had been mixed in with that noise.
‘No way.’
A thin smile crept across Gangwoo’s lips.
He’d only been on Floor 1. An hour in the Tower, tops. And he’d already made over a million won.
At this rate, he could save up ten million won before the Tutorial even ended.
‘Something’s off, though…’
Because it *was* off.
The Gold he’d been given when he first arrived on Floor 1: one hundred. Floor 2’s reward: five hundred.
Then suddenly a hundred thousand? That didn’t add up.
But the reason was easy enough to guess.
“Is it because I killed that Orc…?”
A monster with absurd power for a Floor 1 Tutorial encounter.
The Orc was never meant to be beaten. But he *had* beaten it. So his level and his Gold had skyrocketed accordingly.
‘Not bad at all.’
Wearing a pleased expression, Gangwoo picked up a potion that glowed red.
‘A shame it’s just an item, though…’
But making money did wonders for his mood.
After stashing the HP and MP Potions in his Inventory, Gangwoo checked the items still scattered on the floor.
[Mana-Imbued Pistol]
Grade: E
Durability: 15/15
Attack: +30
Agility: +11
Description: A pistol imbued with faint mana. Small in size but carries tremendous destructive power.
Effect
– On firing, has an 11% (↑1) chance to grant the bullet an Explosive Round effect.
“An Artifact?”
Gangwoo’s eyes went wide. An actual effect-bearer—an Artifact.
He hadn’t expected much.
An item from Floor 1. Even at its best, he’d figured it would be an E-rank piece of gear. And true to his guess, it was exactly that.
But an Artifact? This was a reward he hadn’t anticipated at all. And the effect attached to it looked incredible.
[On firing, 11% (↑1) chance to grant an Explosive Round effect to the bullet.]
An explosion—wasn’t that an effect that made you want to fire it right away?
But there was something strange.
“Why is the 1% highlighted?”
It was a probability-proc Artifact triggered on firing. Yet the percentage part had turned green.
That meant it was receiving a beneficial effect from something.
Ha Gangwoo had a vague idea of the reason.
‘Could it be the Luck stat?’
Exactly—the Luck stat. His current Luck was 20.
‘Hmm… Does it go up 1% per 20 points?’
It was a reasonable inference. Probability was an effect tied to luck, after all.
‘Not bad.’
From Sense to the Luck stat, they were all as good as the regular Status numbers.
Having figured out the Luck stat’s effect, Gangwoo checked the bullets.
[Lowest-Grade Mana Bullet]
Grade: F
Attack Power: +20
Piercing Power: +1
Description: A bullet infused with the faintest trace of mana.
Its power seemed certain. Even the bullets had Attack Power attached. A full 20, no less.
Ha Gangwoo loaded the bullets into the pistol immediately.
“Only 7 rounds…”
The cartridge held 7 bullets in total.
‘How do I use this?’
Gangwoo recalled scenes from movies and aimed.
Even if he didn’t know technical terms like front sight or rear notch, he felt he knew how to aim.
‘Loading means pulling this, and the safety’s this thing.’
He’d never been taught, but he had a rough sense.
After engaging the safety on the pistol, Ha Gangwoo pondered what to do with the remaining bullets.
There were 13 bullets left. He’d rather put them in the Inventory, but
[Lowest-Grade HP Recovery Potion x3][Lowest-Grade MP Recovery Potion x2]
There was no room.
‘Maybe I should take out the MP potion…’
He shook his head.
Potions risked breaking and took up more volume than bullets.
Ha Gangwoo stuffed the remaining bullets into his pocket and opened the Equipment window.
‘It said they stack, didn’t it?’
He recalled Antero’s words.
He’d given the ring as an example. He said you could equip multiple items up to the number of equipment slots.
If so, he should be able to benefit from both the gloves and the gun.
[Weapon: Training Gloves][Weapon: Mana-Imbued Pistol]
[Helmet][Top][Bottom][Belt][Shoes]
[Necklace][Ring][Ring][Bracelet]
‘It works.’
As expected, both weapons were applied. No need to deliberate over which to use.
With the Training Gloves listed first, the effect application seemed to follow the order of equipment equipped.
‘Now for stat distribution.’
The item check was finished.
All that remained was stat distribution.
Ha Gangwoo opened the Status window.
[Ha Gangwoo]
Level: 10
HP: 510/510
MP: 29/29
Strength: 31
Agility: 28(+16)
Vitality: 51
Mana: 29
Sense: 20
Luck: 20
Unallocated: 63
Innate ability: [DLC]
Skill: [Straight Punch]
He hadn’t even properly started the Tutorial yet, but already his Status window showed remarkable numbers.
Ha Gangwoo wore a satisfied expression.
He’d only cleared the first floor, yet he’d reached Level 10. The points he’d earned—a whopping 63 points!!
[All EXP gained is increased by 100%.]
All thanks to the [Jumping Character – Perk]’s effect.
Gangwoo crossed his arms, touching his chin as he deliberated.
‘What should I invest in.’
A full 63 points—where would he put them for maximum efficiency?
Ordinarily, you’d pick your class before allocating stats.
If you were a Tank, you poured into Vitality; if a DPS, Strength or Mana was the standard.
Agility was also a favorable stat for DPS, or for support roles.
‘Hmm…’
Then the right move would be to decide a role and distribute accordingly.
But Gangwoo sank into thought.
Because his store-class leaned neither Tank nor DPS in advantage.
Soon his expression turned serious, as if he’d made up his mind.
‘I’ll go DPS.’
Once you invested in a stat, you couldn’t change it. So his choice now might haunt him later. A wrong allocation was an irreversible one.
But there was no hesitation on Gangwoo’s face.
Ding-
He allocated his stats on the spot.
Strength: 31→61(30↑)
Agility: 28→40(12↑)
Vitality: 51
Mana: 29→50(21↑)
Sense: 20
Luck: 20
He’d spread them evenly across Strength, Agility, and Mana. Sense seemed like a good stat too, but 20 points felt sufficient.
The moment the distribution finished, a faint light enveloped Gangwoo’s body. Instantly, power surged through every muscle.
He clenched his fist tight. A satisfying crackle came from his knuckles.
‘Done.’
From checking the reward to allocating stats—all preparations were complete.
Now there was only one thing left.
[Description: Defeat the master of the 2nd floor!!]
Thump, thump-
His heart pounded hard. From fear? No. From anticipation.
He was dying to know how much he’d grown, what lay ahead.
A faint smile curling at his lips, Gangwoo took a step forward.
