Chapter 89 – The Strange Small City
Chapter 89 – The Strange Small City
In a daze, Su Hao opened his eyes again.
That battle seemed to be right before his eyes.
He didn’t know what happened afterward, nor did he care. It must have been countless years ago!
It’s likely that in the distant past, there was once a brilliant Rune civilization.
Su Hao subconsciously entered the Pinball Space to check the logs.
The first thing he saw was the digital clock hanging on the wall!
“Year 15642159, Moon 7, Day 8, Hour 17, Minute 2, Second 58”
Over ten million years had passed…
This span of time once again exceeded Su Hao’s imagination.
He muttered to himself, “This is a bit exaggerated… Tens of millions of years have passed in the blink of an eye. What do these tens of millions of years mean to me? Do they even have any significance? The vastness of the universe is unimaginable. And what does the universe we inhabit actually look like?”
No matter how Su Hao imagined it, he couldn’t picture what the universe looked like. He could only take a deep breath and exhale slowly.
It was as if everything that had passed dissolved with it.
The information from the martial artist world still lay quietly in the Pinball Space. As long as he wished, he could replay everything he had seen.
But Su Hao didn’t review it. After all, it had passed. Let the colors of that world be preserved within the Pinball Space!
“So, what valuable knowledge can this world I’m currently in bring me?” Su Hao murmured.
He continued to check the logs.
“Year 532662, Moon 8, Day 3, Hour 0, Minute 0, Second 0”
“Entered unknown starry sky, automatically added for comparison, comparison successful, recording coordinates;”
…
“Year 532667, Moon 9, Day 18, Hour 0, Minute 0, Second 0”
“Entered unknown starry sky, automatically added for comparison, comparison successful, recording coordinates;”
……
Jump to the latest log.
Year 10542159, Month 7, Day 8, 0 hours, 0 minutes, 0 seconds.
Entered unknown space, discovered abnormal Catalyst energy, Catalyst energy locked, unable to move. Automatically joined comparison, comparison failed, established new star map, establishment successful;
Su Hao temporarily ignored why the star map comparison failed, as he currently lacked the ability to understand it.
Focusing on the present was more important.
Looking at the body data again,
the body data from the martial artist world had still not been updated.
Su Hao simply saved it directly, then created a new body data table, which was currently blank.
After carefully checking that the Pinball Space, Harmony, and Little Light showed no abnormalities, Su Hao exited the Pinball Space and began to observe his current situation.
He had just transmigrated and had not yet fully received the inheritance of this child, so he was unclear about his current circumstances. Based on Su Hao’s experience, this reception process could take as little as three days or as long as half a month.
No rush!
For the first time, Su Hao focused his attention on his current body!
Hunger!
Cold!
Weakness!
“What???” Su Hao was full of questions.
What was going on? Starving, weak, and powerless right after arriving, was this a Hell difficulty level?
Su Hao struggled to get up and looked around at his surroundings.
Filthy and chaotic!
This was Su Hao’s first impression.
Immediately after, the smell of urine and feces, mixed with a strong musty odor, assaulted his nostrils. This potent smell was enough to make anyone flee immediately.
Even a garbage dump wouldn’t dare to smell this bad!
However, this body seemed accustomed to the smell, as it didn’t release hormones urging Su Hao to leave quickly.
It was a narrow alley. The walls were built from a mixture of stone, mud, and some grass stalks, appearing very old, rough, and weathered.
It was already dusk, and night was approaching, casting the alley in dim light, making it difficult to see.
Su Hao leaned against the wall and slowly walked to the mouth of the alley, looking around this strange place.
What met his eyes was a blurry, dim scene, only seeing uneven houses stretching far into the distance, swallowed by the night at the end.
The style was similar to ordinary medieval civilian houses and small buildings, with no discernible pattern in their distribution. Overall, it gave Su Hao a feeling of randomness. Not only was public defecation random, but even the construction of houses seemed very haphazard.
City management? It seemed like such a thing didn’t exist.
Seeing this, Su Hao immediately admired his current body, feeling incredibly lucky to not have fallen ill and died.
Soon, Su Hao noticed the peculiar aspect of this Small City.
There was no one in sight!
He was the only little kid peeking out. The entire street, or rather, the entire Small City, was silent, with no sign of anyone, not even a single cute little animal.
“Where is everyone? Am I the only one here? Could this be a ghost town???” The thought made Su Hao’s scalp tingle. He had never seen a ghost before, but he couldn’t be sure they didn’t exist, given how vast the universe was. Who could say for sure?
Su Hao slowly retreated back into the dark alley, as if the dim alley could provide him with enough security.
Back in the alley, Su Hao leaned against the wall, feeling a faint warmth. His mind rapidly analyzed the current situation.
Firstly, he had no parents to protect him as a child, making him likely a wandering orphan. He was barefoot, wearing very fashionable pants that reached his thighs, and his shirt was just a piece of rags! A rough start.
Secondly, judging by the environment, this world seemed to have relatively backward productivity. The weather was cool, and if there were seasons, it was likely autumn. This meant he had to find warm clothing and shelter before winter, or he would surely die.
Lastly, based on the traces on the street, this Small City was inhabited, and by quite a few people. Yet, now, before it was completely dark, not a single person could be seen. It was like an empty city, and there must be something fishy going on.
Perhaps something terrifying would appear after nightfall.
“Should I wait until morning?” Su Hao was very hesitant.
He could already feel that this body was reaching its limit. If he didn’t eat something to replenish his energy soon, he might not even have the strength to find food tomorrow, which would lead to his death.
Going out now, while there was a possibility of being killed by something unknown, it was only a possibility; there was also a chance he could survive.
Therefore, Su Hao already knew which choice to make.
“Could this be a one-day trip to another world?” Su Hao chuckled self-deprecatingly.
No matter how difficult things were before, he had always lasted at least two months. Now, he had been through tough times, and he couldn’t break his record.
Every time he changed worlds, Su Hao had to start from scratch. All the power he had possessed before vanished, which was the most frustrating thing.
Fortunately, the knowledge he had learned was retained.
He just needed three months to become a warrior again and possess a certain level of self-protection. Given three years, he would undoubtedly advance to become a Grandmaster warrior again, able to use various runes freely. At that point, he could do whatever he wanted, without fear!
But for now, he needed to figure out how to get something to eat.
Su Hao thought, and slowly walked out of the alley, carefully observing his surroundings.
The entire Small City seemed no different, except it was darker. It was still quiet, so quiet…
Su Hao took a deep breath and told himself, “I can’t see others, and others can’t see me. It’s fair. What do I have to be afraid of?”
Then, in the cold wind, he slowly walked into this eerie Small City.
Find food!
