Chapter 94 – People Eating People
Chapter 94 – People Eating People
Time slowly passed, and two more Moons later.
Su Hao’s Perception range expanded to over a thousand meters, and he began to act.
It wasn’t about causing trouble, but about using Radar to secretly observe the nightly routines of people and gather information. He needed to figure out what was going on in this Small City as soon as possible, otherwise he wouldn’t be able to sleep soundly at night. Who knew when an accident might suddenly occur? Only by gathering enough information could he avoid potential dangers.
Darkness fell, and Su Hao secretly hid in a corner of the city, using his Radar to observe people’s nightly activities.
Most people had retreated into their homes before nightfall and stopped going out. However, a small portion of people began their nocturnal activities.
When night had completely fallen, some ordinary people with weak Blood Qi reactions quietly got out of their homes, found a corner, and stayed there motionlessly.
Those with Blood Qi intensity above the Elite-Level began to move stealthily through the city, their objectives seemingly very clear – to hunt Objectives.
In Su Hao’s Perception, an elite-level individual immediately took action after nightfall, carefully avoiding people’s sight and heading straight for another elite with higher Blood Qi intensity.
The other elite seemed completely unaware of this.
Su Hao hesitated, judging the danger to be minimal, and quietly moved closer to the two. He wanted to see what was going on.
Perhaps, this secret would be revealed tonight.
Su Hao evaded everyone and quickly closed in.
Soon, he saw a figure completely wrapped in black cloth, silently weaving through the low buildings. Their movements were incredibly light, making no sound as they ran, like a phantom drifting freely, flickering in and out of sight.
The figure quickly reached its destination, hiding under the eaves, silently waiting for its prey to appear.
Next, another elite appeared. This elite was naked, wearing only a pair of shorts and a hood that obscured their face. Their dark red figure blended perfectly into the darkness, making them difficult to spot.
As the person in shorts walked, they suddenly put their hands on the ground and began to move on all fours. A bony tail grew from their coccyx, extending over a meter long. Thick fur gradually covered their bare skin, their ears elongated and enlarged, their fangs grew longer, and their hands developed long, bony claws.
After walking only about ten meters, a living person had completely transformed into another form, like a leopard but not quite.
At the same time, in Su Hao’s Radar Perception, the Blood Qi intensity of this transformed Zhu Huo People dropped significantly with the transformation.
“What the hell?” Su Hao, hidden in the darkness, witnessed the entire transformation process. His eyeballs nearly popped out. Was this Harry Potter’s transformation magic!
The transformed leopard-person quietly paced along the wall under the eaves, twitching its nose twice. It stealthily moved towards its designated Objectives, as if it also had its own hunting objectives.
However, it had no idea that a hunter was already waiting on the eaves above.
Just then, in Su Hao’s Perception, another Elite-Level Zhu Huo People was stealthily approaching from a distance.
“…” Su Hao felt a chill run down his spine.
As the leopard-person passed below, the person in black released their grip on the roof beam and slowly descended. Two small steel blades had appeared in their hands, and they plunged them downwards towards the leopard-person’s neck.
However, the leopard-person was highly alert. As the person in black descended, it sensed something was amiss.
The leopard-person’s fur bristled, and it suddenly leaped forward, simultaneously whipping its long bony tail backward.
“Screech~”
The small dagger did not insert into the leopard-person’s neck as hoped, but instead cut a long gash across its back.
The leopard-person’s hasty tail strike missed its mark.
The injured leopard-person ignored its wounds and ran into the darkness without a sound or looking back.
How could the person in black give up such a great opportunity when the objective was injured? They immediately pursued. Unexpectedly, the person in black moved with such grace that their speed surpassed even the leopard-person’s.
After several rounds of pursuit and combat, the leopard-person sustained more and more injuries. Although its bone tail also inflicted a deep gash on the person in black, it was clear to anyone with eyes that the leopard-person’s fate was sealed.
However, the leopard-person was unwilling to accept defeat. Its Blood Qi strength rapidly depleted. It retracted its bone tail, raised its hands from the ground, and two long wings grew from its shoulder blades. With a snap, its hands bent, growing sharp scythes that gleamed cold. It had become a humanoid mantis.
It was uncertain if the wings on its back could achieve flight.
The transformation was very swift. By the time it concluded, the Mantis Person’s Blood Qi strength had fallen to a low point.
It swung its sharp scythes at the person in black, its attack power enhanced. It was resolved to fight for its life.
The person in black hesitated slightly; the Mantis Person looked formidable.
However, this [Mimicry Person] before them was a prey they had observed for a long time. Although the sneak attack failed, tonight was their best hunting opportunity.
And as a [Lightfoot], if they could obtain the flesh of the [Mimicry Person], while it wouldn’t allow for advancement, it would greatly enhance their abilities.
‘Let’s take a gamble!’ The person in black made up their mind, brandishing dual blades. Seizing an opportunity, they drifted vaguely towards the Mantis Person, their speed surprisingly not slow.
The Lightfoot’s blades slid forward in a cross motion.
‘Clang!’
They were blocked by the Mantis Person’s scythes, producing a crisp sound that echoed far away.
The person in black immediately adjusted their direction, attacking from behind the Mantis Person, but was still blocked.
After several rounds of such exchanges, the person in black’s dual blades were caught by the Mantis Person’s scythes. With a forceful pull, they were sent stumbling.
‘Opportunity!’ The Mantis Person burst forth with all their might, lunging forward. Their scythes quickly clamped around the person in black’s neck and squeezed hard.
‘Screech~crack~’
The sound of sharp points piercing flesh mixed with the cracking of vertebrae. In an instant, the person in black became a limp corpse, the hunter turned prey.
The Mantis Person confirmed the other was dead, released their scythes, and the person in black slumped to the ground.
The Mantis Person tore open the black clothing, spotted the thick flesh on the back, opened their mouth full of sharp teeth, and tore off a chunk of flesh from the person in black, swallowing it whole, then took another large bite.
After two bites, it seemed to be enough. They stood up to leave, only able to maintain the Mantis Person form, too weak to transform further.
Injured too severely tonight, they could no longer hunt their objective and needed to return to their hiding spot quickly. Moreover, having captured the flesh of a [Lightfoot] tonight was not a fruitless endeavor.
However, just as the Mantis People was about to turn and leave, a black shadow suddenly pounced from the air with silent movement. Before he could react, its claws sliced open his throat, and blood gushed out.
The Mantis People desperately covered the wound with his scythes, but he gradually lost strength. He saw the predator behind him and wanted to say something, but nothing came out.
He recognized the identity of the black shadow behind him: it was the ‘Night Walker’, the silent movement in the darkness.
However, Su Hao didn’t recognize any ‘Night Walker’. He recognized the black shadow that finally finished off the Mantis People as the ‘Bat Freak’ that had attacked him some time ago.
After the Bat Freak devoured the flesh and blood of the black-clothed Mantis People, it quietly left the area.
Soon, Su Hao perceived that the ordinary people who had been lurking around began to stir restlessly. In a short while, they swarmed towards the two corpses on the ground and began to feast, their mouths covered in blood.
After devouring enough, they quietly retreated and hid, while more ordinary people arrived one after another, drawn by the commotion, and joined the feast.
Soon, the two corpses on the ground were reduced to bare skeletons, abandoned in the wasteland.
Su Hao’s hair stood on end. What kind of hellish world was this!
Truly, man eating man!
Su Hao quietly followed those ordinary people who had devoured the flesh and blood, wanting to see why they did it.
