Chapter 85 – Live Broadcast
Chapter 85 – Live Broadcast
The description of the Watchtower building was still somewhat brief, so Mu Yuan immediately logged into the all-purpose Taixuan Forum to search for more information.
He soon found the answer.
“After constructing a Watchtower, the Lord can activate an overhead perspective in that area, illuminating the map. Moreover… within the Watchtower’s illuminated range, Miracle Buildings can also be constructed.”
This was equivalent to establishing a small sub-base.
Even though its coverage area was small and couldn’t be expanded, its value was immeasurable.
Many veteran Lords wished they could build a Watchtower at important field outposts. Unfortunately, such blueprints were rare and hard to come by. Even if they were available for exchange on the Taixuan Covenant, the price was high and… there were purchase limits.
…
Although this Snakemen gathering place was a Tribe-level settlement and relatively advanced, it was still quite similar to the previous two Goblin Camps. It was filled with various 18+ scenes, and there were deformed remains in the cellars. Moreover, the Snakefolk Tribe seemed to frequently hold sacrificial rituals to the Great Serpent.
Yes, bloody sacrifices.
The Goblins and other small monsters they captured could be used as slaves, fertilizer, or sacrificial offerings. One could say their utilization methods were quite diverse.
Mu Yuan had seen plenty and was largely immune to such scenes.
Well, only when observing from a distance through the War Falcon’s vision.
If he were to project his consciousness and personally walk into this Tribe, the scattered remains and the overwhelming stench of blood and filth would still be somewhat unbearable.
He needed to get used to it gradually.
The Watchtower couldn’t be built for now, and even if it were possible, Mu Yuan wouldn’t construct it before the trial.
He spent another hour or so dismantling almost everything inside and outside the Snakefolk Tribe, and also picked the nearly ripe Snakescale Fruits one by one.
—Since the Skeleton Warriors were merely military units and rather clumsy, some losses during the harvesting process were unavoidable.
He also performed simple cleanup—bodies were either burned or thrown into the orchard as fertilizer. Large Elite monsters like the ‘Venom-Spitting Dragon’ were given to Dolai as pre-meal snacks… but humanoid monsters were out of the question. One had to have some standards, or else how would they deal with the great river crab deity that bans everything?
After tidying up, Mu Yuan left a squad of Skeleton Warriors and two Hurricane Falcons to temporarily guard the orchard and see if any monsters coveted it.
Then he led… watched his massive team slowly make their way back.
Since there was no need to carry any supplies—everything was stored in Dolai’s stomach—the return journey was much faster than the trip there. But after covering a small portion of the distance, Deadbone noticed it was still early and thought it would be a waste to return directly. So he took half the troops and began clearing the swamp.
Due to the previous presence of the Snakefolk Tribe, the territory’s exploration of this swamp area was very low. Now was indeed the time to thoroughly explore it.
Deadbone went to pioneer the wilderness, Dolai continued carrying the supplies back, and Lord Mu held down the fort at the base.
Everyone was very busy.
“I’ll go to the forum to gather some information, check out other newcomers, and see if I’ve missed anything.”
As soon as he opened the forum, he saw a post marked with a ‘Hot’ label.
It was a live stream post by a new Lord.
“A Lord is streaming a conquest? That’s rare, no wonder the popularity shot up so high.”The subjugation had not yet begun, but likely due to pre-event promotion by the live stream’s backend operators, many new and veteran players had gathered in anticipation.
“Heard a newcomer is going to subjugate a large monster camp? That’s bold!”
“To be honest, this seems reckless. Daring to assault a large camp just over twenty days into the game? Aren’t they afraid of losing their main forces and jeopardizing the Lord’s Trial?”
“The previous comment makes sense, but since this young man dares to start a live stream, he must have considerable confidence, right?”
“Live stream? This is just a task assigned by the White Shark Group.”
“It is indeed the White Shark Group’s requirement, but this ‘Tuna’ player is no ordinary individual. He is a descendant of a White Shark Group executive and the flagship figure the group is promoting for this Lord’s Trial, aiming to climb the leaderboards and boost the White Shark name. For this, the White Shark Group has invested heavily.”
The subjugation had yet to begin, and the player perspectives from the Eternal Continent were not yet connected. However, White Shark had early on invited a fairly well-known veteran player, ‘Master Ma,’ to guest-commentate in the stream, paired with a random female player.
Master Ma cleared his throat and said, “We can see from the chat that everyone is very enthusiastic and highly concerned about whether our Tuna Player can conquer this large monster camp. As a tactical Great Master, I must remind all new Lords here: do not imitate this subjugation operation.”
“Guides often advise newcomers to clear out as many monsters around their territory as possible before the Lord’s Trial arrives, but the monsters referred to here are only disorganized groups, not fortified monster camps. Such camps usually have watchtowers, ranged units, and traps, putting attackers at a significant disadvantage. Especially with the Lord’s Trial approaching, it’s unwise to risk attacking a monster camp. However…”
Master Ma shifted his tone, “If a new Lord possesses exceptionally strong forces and has been assessed by their advisory team as fully capable of taking down a large monster camp, then… accumulating one more asset before the trial is not unreasonable. Our Tuna Player has clearly made thorough preparations.”
The live stream’s view switched, revealing majestic mountains and lush forests to the audience.
This was likely the perspective of some aerial reconnaissance tool, looking down from afar at the distant monster camp.
Some of these weak kobolds wielded Wooden Spears and had crude equipment, while others were equipped with refined short Swords and shields, and some even held crossbows, standing atop high watchtowers, waiting to deliver death to any intruders.
For the vast majority of new players, this was their first time seeing such a monster camp, and they couldn’t help but gasp in shock. For a moment, the chat was flooded with “Hiss~”, “Hiss~”, “Hiss~” comments, making Mu Yuan almost feel like he was back in the Snakefolk Tribe.
At this point, Lord Tuna had already led his troops to attack the camp.
In an instant, Sabers and Swords danced wildly, arrows fell like rain, and even massive Fireballs flew in, exploding like high-impact grenades.
This made many newcomers inwardly tense, but Tuna Player, true to his role as the promotional face of the White Shark Group, commanded his diverse troops steadily and methodically, maneuvering back and forth.
During the battle, although the player himself faced several minor crises and lost dozens of three-star units, he still managed to conquer the monster camp steadily.
“Impressive.”After the live stream ended, countless newcomers were still buzzing on the forums, with even the newbie lord group chat of Baijiang Four Cities heatedly discussing.
Liver Emperor: “I’m still not grinding enough after all!”
Tan Moumou: “If there were monster camps around me, I could do it too, but I admit this guy is really impressive. @Ordinary Player, what do you think?”
This was Mu Yuan’s group nickname.
He connected to Hurricane Falcon No. 4, gazing down from afar at the massive Tribe littered with devastation – numerous trenches over ten meters long, giant craters, and enormous palm prints – then glanced at the screenshot of the kobold camp from the live stream.
He praised, “You’re right, it’s truly impressive.”
