Chapter 122 – Escaping the Castle with the Second Prince – Latter Half

Chapter 122 – Escaping the Castle with the Second Prince – Latter Half

“Prince Miles, is the castle interior always this bright?”

The prince glanced around nervously before shrinking his shoulders and flashing a cheerful grin.

“No idea. But I’m a lucky guy, you see.”

“Lucky?”

The prince darted across the passageway and beckoned us over.

“That’s right. So it’s no surprise the path to the castle exit is lit up. Someone must be helping us out for their own reasons. I’m truly grateful.”

That teamwork from our mystery helpers was impressive as expected.

“It’s not just us servants who want to lend the second prince a hand, after all.”

Suzy said it with a bright smile.

This prince must have gotten by with support from everyone around him like this.

With that endearing, hard-to-hate personality of his, even I couldn’t just leave him be.

“Speaking of which, were you okay back then? With the snakes.”

“Huh? Oh, yeah. I’m more used to assassination attempts than I look, so no problem.”

“Used to assassinations?”

“Yep. I’ve survived purely on luck, so rest easy.”

The prince put on a sharp, confident smile.

“Was that… an assassination attempt?”

I asked in surprise, and the prince acted like it was no big deal.

“The first prince was trying really hard to assassinate the second prince, after all~”

Suzy tilted her head cutely with a sweet smile, adding that playful “~”.

Guess that’s fine. No hard feelings between the prince and Suzy.

Not my place to butt in if they’re okay with it.

“You’re taking it awfully casually.”

“They added ‘pervert’ to my titles this time, but I’m just a fool of a prince who gets by on luck. Big bro always fails at assassinating me somehow.”

The prince’s face went all soft and wobbly.

Lucky or unlucky? It’s luck plus the servants’ hard work, probably.

“But if you think about it, thanks to big bro, I got to meet Lady Saintess. Human connections are mysterious things.”

I’m glad I met him too.

It’s just so fun hanging out with these two.

After that, we ran into more servants several times, but the prince safely escorted me all the way to the castle’s main entrance.

The main entrance? Really?

“Lady Saintess, this is the rendezvous point.”

Stepping outside, a vast rotary for carriages stretched before us.

No cover in sight—perfect spot for a target.

Staying here would put not just me, but the prince in danger too.

“Prince Miles, this is the most exposed place possible.”

Suzy nodded vigorously, looking alert herself.

“I asked my subordinates to secure the area ahead of time.”

Yeah, that’s why you keep getting assassinated. Zero caution.

Sorry to his men, but I couldn’t trust them fully—I led the prince to a blind spot.

Quickly, I closed my eyes and began searching for enemies.

Too many people inside the castle to use it effectively, but out here? Perfect.

Yet no matter how hard I focused outside the castle—friends, foes—no presences at all.

“You’re right. But no guards either.”

“Yep. My men are top-notch. We even had intel that Lady Saintess can do enemy detection.”

This guy—competent or idiot? Hard to tell.

Basics covered, and he even calculated I’d do the scouting.

“No need to worry. If something happens, I can be your shield. Though apparently killing the second prince in the castle is tougher than it looks.”

“Hehe. Thank you.”

What a truly peculiar person.

“By the way, did you know Lord Heart received a ‘Divine Oracle’?”

“‘Divine Oracle’?!”

Suzy and I harmonized in shock.

No way!

Heart’s finally become a god.

“Is the church trying to destroy this country?!”

Suzy grabbed the prince’s collar in her surprise.

“I-It’s fine. The church actually helped save the country.”

The prince patted Suzy’s hand, still gripping his collar.

Suzy let out a relieved breath and roughly released him.

“I wanna punch Yorusage right now. We almost lost the country. Good thing we broke up for real.”

She really might deck him if they meet. Calling him by name now, too.

Suzy’s eyes burned with fury.

“Haha. Give him one for me too.”

The prince, swaying a bit, smiled soothingly at Suzy.

Suzy calmed down at that, flashing a bashful smile.

“Still, that’s a pretty innovative move, huh? A ‘Divine Oracle’?”

“No choice. Borders, outer capital walls, castle walls, gates—all those spots, and it lets you pass without hassle. Just flash it and go—amazing, right?!”

“Ahaha. I wanna try using one!”

The prince and Suzy laughed like it was a shiny new transit card.

“Seeing the real ‘Divine Oracle’ has me all excited.”

“Right, Suzy? Super exciting!”

Those two looked thrilled.

I’d heard of scrolls like commendations, maybe?

Or something like a secret badge from those old samurai dramas?

“Oh, Lady Saintess. Isn’t that it over there?”

The prince tapped my shoulder and pointed into the distance.

“Wow, he’s got a ton of holy knights with him. The church headquarters must have a huge force.”

“Yeah… That looks like my direct command unit.”

Including the ones on standby, it’s the whole second division. Things have gotten pretty serious…

We three waved our arms wildly while jumping up and down. Heart in his gray uniform and Ted sped up toward us.

Amid the swarm of white-uniformed holy knights he’d brought, those two really stood out.
