Chapter 207 – The Dimension Door

Chapter 207 – The Dimension Door

As Vic activated three consecutive “Greater Daze” spells solidified on the “Wind-Bathing Punisher,” Punk simultaneously triggered the spell on his Master-level Robe—”Chaos Cloak.” An energy cloak shimmering with multicolored lights, resembling tattered cloth, instantly draped over Punk. Three sudden beams of white light were intercepted by the wildly scattering energy, bursting like miniature fireworks.

“Greater Daze” ultimately wasn’t a spell with powerful defense-breaking capabilities. After the “Chaos Cloak” shattered under the energy impact, the three daze spells were all neutralized by the chaotic energy.

However, these three “Greater Daze” spells were merely the prelude to a more powerful attack. In less than a second, Vic’s crimson “Wind-Bathing Punisher” greatsword descended with the momentum of ten thousand collapsing mountains. To enhance this strike, Vic audaciously initiated a Charge mid-air. The overlay of such tremendous momentum even caused the Sword Saint’s bones to emit crisp cracking sounds.

But Vic paid no heed. The battle-hardened Sword Saint knew clearly that although none of the three enemies surrounding him were easy to deal with, only Punk, the mage, could prevent him from killing Princess Trelinka. Bloodclaw wouldn’t dare withstand a single attack, the Boss Lady as a Stalker was completely suppressed by the lingering “light mist,” and Iron Tower… as a defensive tank, truly lacked both speed and agility.

“As long as I can eliminate this most threatening mage, Princess Trelinka will undoubtedly die today. Moreover, this mage’s golem can’t make it in time. Even if a close-combat-inexperienced mage survives through some secret art, they couldn’t possibly withstand a level fourteen Sword Saint at such close range.”

Thinking this, Vic’s greatsword blazed with flames, his eyes gleaming with confident radiance. He firmly believed he would succeed because he would next activate the Master-level spell solidified on the “Wind-Bathing Punisher”—”Annihilation!” Of those who had survived this combo, Vic could proudly say—so far, not a single one.

Facing Vic’s instantaneous attack, Punk couldn’t help but curse his teammates inwardly. If Golem Two could have arrived in time, he was certain Vic wouldn’t have been able to assault so recklessly without any defenses.

“If I hadn’t kept an ace up my sleeve, I might have truly been forced to use my final trump card.”

Punk thought displeasedly.

His ultimate trump card was naturally the “Improved Ruby Aegis” solidified on the “Haitzita Magic Box.” But after using this final resort, Punk would have to immediately flee, because by then the Boss Lady, Iron Tower, and Bloodclaw would likely join forces to hunt him down for the Legendary Equipment.

For now, however, Punk had a perfect plan. Though it required extremely precise manipulation, for Punk who possessed the System, what he feared least was so-called “precision” operations.

In the split second Punk was contemplating, Vic’s crimson greatsword was already less than half a meter away. It seemed certain to strike Punk in the very next instant. But at that moment, a cold smile appeared on Punk’s face, and even the battlefield temperature heated to over a hundred degrees by fire-attribute Battle Aura seemed to plummet abruptly with that meaningful grin.

Behind Punk, a shimmering light gate instantly materialized. With a light tap of his toes on the ground, Punk’s entire body vanished into the light gate under the effect of “Greater Haste.”

Seeing Punk suddenly enter the light gate, Vick momentarily froze in surprise. He hadn’t expected Punk to possess a trump card like the Master-Level Conjuration spell—”Anywhere Door.” However, his movements didn’t hesitate in the slightest. As a powerhouse on the verge of breaking through to the Master-Level, Vick Swordsaint had the insight to recognize that this spatial gate connected to a nearby location. If Punk could slip through it, so could he—it would merely mean continuing his full-force slash in a different place.

Without hesitation, Vick raised “Wind-Bathing Punisher” high and charged explosively into the Anywhere Door after Punk.

But in the very next second, as Vick burst out from the Anywhere Door’s exit, all he saw was a dark hem of clothing disappearing into another light gate. What appeared before Vick then… was actually a giant—slime?

Well, what Vick actually saw was the shapeshifter—the Boss Lady in her true form—though now her entire body had turned green, leading Vick to mistake her for a slime.

The reason he didn’t see Punk was simple.

Facing Vick Swordsaint’s full-force strike, Punk instantly activated the “Anywhere Door” spell solidified on his Master-level Robe, opening the first Anywhere Door behind himself. The exit of this first door was set right in front of the Boss Lady, who had been watching the spectacle from a distance.

When Punk emerged from the first Anywhere Door’s exit, he was positioned between the Boss Lady and the door’s exit—facing Vick with his back to the Boss Lady.

Immediately after, in a split second too brief for even a Formal-Level powerhouse to react, Punk opened a second Anywhere Door behind himself. The exit of this second door was set at the battlefield’s edge, a safe distance from Vick.

As Punk exited through the second Anywhere Door, he promptly closed all the doors. By then, Vick had just emerged from the first door’s exit.

That’s why Vick only caught a glimpse of Punk’s black clothing hem—Punk had already left via the second Anywhere Door.

In essence, Punk’s plan was straightforward: he used the first Anywhere Door to transport both himself and the rapidly attacking Vick in front of the Boss Lady, then exited through the second door himself. By closing all the doors before Vick could enter the second one, Punk left Vick—still in his full-speed assault—stranded right before the Boss Lady. The plan sounded simple, seemingly achievable with just a Mage Robe capable of instantly casting three Master-Level conjuration spells—”Anywhere Door.” However, for the vast majority of Master-Level experts, attempting such a maneuver was tantamount to suicide. If the activation of the Anywhere Door was even slightly delayed, they would be brutally struck by the enemy’s attack. If the door closed a fraction too early, the part of their body not yet through would be cleanly severed by spatial forces.

Moreover, spells like “Anywhere Door” required the user to quickly lock onto two spatial coordinates. To flawlessly lock onto four coordinates in such an instant was impossible even for Master-Level experts specializing in divination magic!

But now, with the System’s analytical prowess—no less formidable than that of an ordinary Legendary Expert—Punk gained absolute precision in timing calculations. He was fully confident that the Anywhere Door’s split-second opening and closing could be executed perfectly: both to trap the enemy in a full-force Charge and to ensure his own retreat at the critical moment.

Of course, Punk didn’t forget to feign exhaustion and a weakened aura, as if barely capable of fighting, to maintain the ruse of having used some secret technique. After all, as a Formal-Level mage, the abilities he had just displayed were astonishing. Remaining completely unfazed would only invite trouble.
