Chapter 260 – Goods
Chapter 260 – Goods
“Thought of Truth” was the organization Punk decided to join. As a genuine Master-Level Caster, he would be welcomed in any Legendary organization, and he believed he could attain a relatively high status within “Thought of Truth” as well.
“If nothing has changed over the past five hundred years, ‘Thought of Truth’ should still operate on a system where resources are exchanged using redemption points. I just wonder what the exchange rate is like.”
Punk was most concerned about the precious and abundant magical materials within Legendary organizations. According to his cheap parents’ memories, most of these materials in “Thought of Truth” required redemption points for exchange. The simplest way to obtain redemption points was by completing missions. If selling items, both magical items and alchemical equipment could fetch considerable redemption points. Of course, as a caster organization connected to the outside world, Thought of Truth also allowed Gold Coins to be exchanged for redemption points, though the exchange rate between Gold Coins and redemption points could only be described as utterly terrible.
“Exchanging with Gold Coins is the worst method. It seems I’ll have to sell some alchemical equipment after all.”
Punk stroked his smooth chin and focused his consciousness into his Storage Ring to inspect his current resources.
As a Master-Level Caster, Punk’s current assets were quite meager. He only had one Master-Level Mage Robe that was worth looking at. Beyond that, his Master-Level items consisted of just a “Tears of the Spring” Necklace, a “Black Eagle Ring,” and an unidentified Quill.
Additionally, Punk’s Gold Coin count was pitifully small. Neither Bloodclaw’s Storage Ring nor Trelinka’s Storage Necklace contained many Gold Coins. Even including the coins Punk had “looted” from Doleiz City, he only had just over ten thousand Gold Coins.
Don’t think ten thousand Gold Coins is a large amount. While one Gold Coin could sustain an urban commoner family for a year, for a Master-Level Mage, this amount of Gold Coins was truly insignificant.
The reason gold could become a relatively universal currency in the Multiverse wasn’t due to its general equivalence, but because it could be refined into the precious Master-Level magical material—adamantine!
Therefore, how many resources Gold Coins could exchange for in the commoner world, or their cost-effectiveness, held no meaning for professionals. Transactions involving Gold Coins among professionals were always conducted based on the price of adamantine.
As for the ten thousand-plus Gold Coins in Punk’s possession, when refined into adamantine… it would be pathetically small.
Actually, Punk possessed one enormous treasure: the knowledge inherited from Grand Arcanist Vedrasha.
Knowledge was indeed highly valuable in “Thought of Truth,” but Punk couldn’t exchange Netheril’s knowledge for money. He dared not risk exposing his possession of Netheril knowledge, after all, the Legendary Experts’ “Legendary Mind Spell—Soul Search” wasn’t something to be trifled with!
“What a hassle. It seems I really have to sell a few magic equipment items after all.”
Looking at the powerfully enchanted “Black Eagle Ring,” Punk felt somewhat indecisive.”The Black Eagle Ring,” “Tears of the Spring,” and the “Quill” are all Master-Level magic equipment. Aside from their exorbitant price, they share another characteristic—they’re practically useless to Punk.
Among them, the Black Eagle Ring is the most precious of the three, as evidenced by Bloodclaw risking his life to seize it.
But for Punk, the Black Eagle Ring is ironically one of the most useless items. It’s a magic equipment specifically designed for warlocks, with its main purpose being to help warlocks with unstable bloodlines forcibly perform “Cage Escape.” Since Punk isn’t following the warlock path, what the hell use is “Cage Escape” to him?
As for the “Master-Level Conjuration Spell—Teleport,” which requires a full second to activate, it’s utterly worthless. Good heavens, using “Teleport” in a Master-Level battle? Do you really think the Master-Level spell “Spatial Interference” doesn’t exist?
For these reasons, the Black Eagle Ring was the first item Punk decided to sell.
Then there’s “Tears of the Spring,” which is equally useless. It solidifies three spells aligned with the good alignment, none of which Punk can use.
The Quill is even more pointless. Its function is to enhance the memory of ordinary beings, allowing those without class levels to possess a Formal-Level memory. While the magic capable of boosting an ordinary being’s memory to such an extent is indeed impressive… it’s still completely useless. This item was probably originally created as a reward for apprentices, but for Punk, it’s utterly worthless.
Now that Punk has advanced to Master-Level, these items that Formal-Level experts would fight tooth and nail for hold no value to him. Ironically, he never even used them once during his Formal-Level stage, despite the great effort he expended to obtain them. Now, their only worth lies in selling them for exchange points, leading Punk to sigh ruefully at the unpredictability of fate.
“Anyway, these are still Master-Level items. The Black Eagle Ring should be highly sought after by warlocks. Selling them all should fetch a considerable amount of exchange points!”
Punk sighed faintly and stored the items back into his Storage Ring.
As he traveled, lost in thought, Punk unknowingly traversed most of the forest and reached the edge of the jungle. According to the results of his Divination Spell, the nearest city wasn’t far away!
Naturally, Punk wouldn’t stop due to travel fatigue. He sped past blades of grass without pause, paying no mind to the trembling wild beasts around him.
After leaving the ruins, Punk discovered that the food in his Storage Ring had long since decomposed and become inedible. For the past week, he had been subsisting on a type of sour wild fruit from the jungle. Truth be told, Punk was already looking forward to the bread and jam in the city—soft, fluffy white bread slathered with plum jam, a sweet and tangy flavor that truly whetted the appetite. However, as the saying goes, nature is unpredictable just as the moon waxes and wanes. Punk’s week-long peaceful journey finally encountered an unexpected incident. The delicious jam he had been looking forward to seemed destined to be delayed.
Just as Punk emerged from a dense forest, an overwhelming, pungent smell of blood assaulted his senses.
What unfolded before Punk was no longer a tranquil and serene forest scene, but a patch of charred land scorched by fierce flames. Shattered trees lay scattered across the uneven ground, while scorched feathers drifted through the air and blood mixed with shredded flesh splattered everywhere. A clearing half the size of a basketball court was littered with such chaotic devastation.
