Chapter 316 – Fierce Wind! Hear My Command
Chapter 316 – Fierce Wind! Hear My Command
“BOOM”!!
The massive Thunderhawk slammed violently into the mountain peak. Propelled by overwhelming energy, Monbay Windbeak maintained his sideways crashing posture, shattering three entire mountains before finally coming to a stop amidst the rubble of the fourth peak.
The Thunderhawk had completely lost its initial elegance and dashing appearance. Its feathers were scattered everywhere from the high-speed impact friction, flowing blood formed small streams across the shattered mountains, while its abdomen – struck by Ben Lajie’s “Scorching Fireball” – bore a massive burning hole. Charred internal organs spread the aroma of roasted meat across a vast area.
Yet despite Monbay Windbeak’s miserable appearance, neither Punk nor Ben Lajie let their guard down. For a Master-Level creature, such injuries were merely superficial wounds, particularly insignificant for a massive being like Monbay Windbeak.
The Thunderhawk’s combat capability wouldn’t diminish due to these injuries. On the contrary, boundless rage would drive this frenzied monster to unleash its full power.
Punk’s prediction proved accurate. Monbay Windbeak, now half-buried in rubble, didn’t hesitate. With powerful wing beats, countless rocks from the shattered mountains flew into the air as the battered Thunderhawk leaped out from the crater-like rubble pile.
Wind and lightning elements began gathering once more. Countless flashes and thunderbolts flickered across the sky while a massive vortex of storm winds enveloped Monbay Windbeak mid-air. Then…
“RAAAAAAGH, Hurricane! Heed my command”!
Following Monbay Windbeak’s hysterical roar, the intensifying storm formed tsunami-like waves. The terrifying hurricane surges carried countless blue energy blades – numerous deadly wind blades dancing with the gales. Everywhere the hurricane passed was left in devastation: earth torn asunder, air vacuumed away, even space itself sliced open with numerous fissures.
Yet facing the overwhelming waves of terrifying hurricane, both Punk and Ben Lajie remained completely unfazed. Ben Lajie even shrugged nonchalantly and remarked to Punk:
“Tsk tsk tsk, what a wasteful beast. Good thing it resides in these desolate Hoth Mountains. With its combat style, it would be skinned and deboned in minutes over at Grey Mire Swamp.”
Ben Lajie’s taunt wasn’t unfounded. Monbay Windbeak’s storm tsunami attack appeared terrifyingly powerful, the crushing force sweeping everything before it in a spectacular, shocking display.
But Punk knew this attack represented one of the least efficient combat methods. Had the Thunderhawk been facing similarly massive creatures, such “hurricane waves” might indeed be difficult to evade. However, both Punk and Ben Lajie lacked enormous size – their combined volume couldn’t match even one of Monbay Windbeak’s feathers. Against such terrifying wind waves, they only needed to break through at key points to render most of the enemy’s energy attacks useless. In other words, for Punk and Ben Lajie, Monbay Windbeak’s current assault was merely wasting energy!Though aware that Monbay Windbeak was no longer a threat, Punk’s expression grew even more solemn. He turned and whispered a warning to Ben Lajie:
“Don’t underestimate the enemy. Monbay Windbeak has gone so mad he’s lost even basic combat awareness. You should consider what reduced him to this state. According to your description, three months ago Monbay was still a rational and principled Storm Raptor!”
“Alright, it is rather terrifying when you think about it. When I last met Monbay, he was clearly a courteous gentleman—he even gifted me two crates of Hoth Mountain deer antlers. For him to inexplicably become like this now… it’s truly unsettling upon reflection!”
Watching Monbay Windbeak charge recklessly without even tending to his wounds, a wary glint surfaced in Ben Lajie’s eyes. His apprehension wasn’t directed at the crazed Storm Raptor, but rather at the “mastermind” who had driven Monbay to madness.
“Enough speculation. Let’s deal with this monster first. We’ll investigate his lair later—perhaps we can find some clues… I suspect this matter is connected to those two nations beyond the Hoth Mountains.”
Punk didn’t continue idle speculation. Facing the roaring tempest closing in, he calmly cast a powerful defensive spell:
“Master-Level Conjuration Spell—Kinetic Shield.”
“Metamagic—Mana Compression!”
A pale violet spherical barrier materialized around Punk. The next instant, overwhelming gales slammed violently against his shield.
Cyan wind blades churned against the barrier like countless ripples, yet these space-rending edges couldn’t leave even the slightest mark on the Metamagic-enhanced Kinetic Shield. All wind blades were deflected far away by the seemingly fragile barrier. Amid the crushing winds, Punk soared through the storm curtain like a fish gliding through water, advancing toward the distant Monbay Windbeak.
“Master-Level Summoning Magic—Summon Drillwind Gulls!”
“Metamagic—Dualcast.”
“Master-Level Conjuration Spell—Kinetic Acceleration!”
With a wave of his hand, Punk liberally employed the Dualcast Metamagic technique. Two shuttle-shaped birds, each palm-sized, emerged from magic circles beside him. Instantly, they began spinning at high velocity within the storm. Enhanced by the simultaneously cast Kinetic Acceleration, the two Drillwind Gulls rapidly achieved terrifying supersonic speeds—their intense humming even drowning out the howling winds, while the space around them distorted and fractured.
Admittedly, Monbay Windbeak’s grandiose wind wall had dispersed the storm’s collective force. With a casual gesture from Punk, the Drillwind Gulls pierced through the wind curtain as if tearing through tissue paper, then shot toward Monbay Windbeak’s eyes like afterimage-trailing projectiles.
“Heh, since Brother Cyan has made his move, I can’t afford to look too incompetent as his senior.”Protected by a layer of flame shield and moving only slightly slower than Punk, Ben Lajie chuckled darkly. One after another, white sparks began to emerge from his hands, and a massive stream of these “sparks” flew continuously toward the enormous Monbay Windbeak like machine gun bullets.
“Master-Level Evocation Spell—Flying Fire Meteors”!
All the meteors exploded upon impact with Monbay Windbeak’s body, instantly enveloping half of the Storm Roc’s form in bursts of fire. Simultaneously, the two Wind Drill Gulls summoned by Punk arrived above Monbay’s head. Although the creature managed to dodge one by tilting its head aside, the other Wind Drill Gull viciously plunged straight into Monbay Windbeak’s right eye, and then…
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH”!
A wretched scream echoed across the skies of the Hoth Mountains!
Another new month has arrived in the blink of an eye—time for an explosive start! Everyone, hurry and cast your votes over here~
