Chapter 382 – No!!
Chapter 382 – No!!
Punk had left Ovakain with very few options. Cast a spell? By the time the spell model was constructed, the Sleeping Dragon Volcano would likely have erupted. Use Dragon Breath? Ovakain’s strongest attack was far from capable of rapid succession!
In the final millisecond, no matter how furious or helpless Ovakain felt, his only remaining choice was to use “Blink.”
And this path… was precisely the one Punk had prepared for Ovakain.
“Never fight a mage on their own turf. As a fellow spellcaster, Ovakain, I had expected your intelligence to be slightly higher!”
Watching the black dragon’s mana-imbed fangs tear through space as they lunged toward him and the Fire Element Crystal Orb, Punk’s expression remained utterly unchanged from start to finish.
Even in the scorching volcanic crater, his icy eyes radiated a bone-chilling coldness. The moment their gazes met, Ovakain felt an overwhelming sense of foreboding, as if doused by a bucket of freezing water.
“Damn it! This bastard’s plan must have accounted for my ‘Blink’ trump card. What’s going to happen next? How does he intend to breach my seventeen layers of magical protection?”
For the first time, Ovakain felt that the layers of protective spells and sturdy dragon scales covering his body offered him no sense of security whatsoever. Faced with Punk’s deathly gaze, he knew immense danger was hurtling toward him.
But… the immediate crisis left no room for hesitation. The Fire Element Crystal Orb was nearly through the Anywhere Door. No matter what trap Punk had laid, Ovakain had no choice but to prioritize clamping down with all his might, using his space-rending fangs to destroy both the Fire Element Crystal Orb and the Anywhere Door. Only this way could he save the Hoth Mountains and his Dragon Roar Kingdom in the span of a single millisecond!
As for the danger he would inevitably face afterward… Ovakain could only place his hopes in the layers of protection covering his body.
The dragon’s bite was lightning-fast. Vast swathes of space had already been torn apart by his fangs, and terrifying cold light surged like an unstoppable storm, shattering elements. In less than a millisecond, Ovakain’s massive jaws were about to snap shut at a speed too fast to leave even an afterimage. If he succeeded, both the Fire Element Crystal Orb and the Anywhere Door would inevitably be ground to dust beneath his fangs!
But…
Boom!!
Under Ovakain’s crimson gaze, within Punk’s indifferent line of sight, and witnessed by the slumbering Dragon Volcano, a tremendous sound instantly echoed across the sky—most importantly, it was decidedly not the sound of the Fire Element Crystal Orb shattering.
“Nooooo!! Bite down! Bite down, damn it!!”
In the nearly silent volcanic crater, all other sounds were drowned out by Ovakain’s frenzied roar. At this moment, his fangs had already made contact with the surface of the Fire Element Crystal Orb. Just one more millimeter, and the orb destined to bring catastrophe would shatter under the impact of his dragon fangs! However, this mere millimeter was more insurmountable than the highest chasm. Throughout his life, Ovakain, who had once soared freely across the azure skies, had never felt a millimeter to be so impossibly distant—so distant it was… utterly despairing!
“Nooooooooo! Cyan, you vile, despicable, brutal madman! I will make you pay!”
Within the violet-glowing magic array, every inch of muscle on Ovakain’s massive body contracted with wave-shocking force, compressing under immense pressure. Magical radiance even shimmered in a faint cyan hue across his dragon scales. “Rapid Shift” stirred a mana storm that continuously circulated around Ovakain, propelling him forward, while the recoil of the counterforce even caused parts of the volcano’s crater to crack!
But it was useless, utterly useless!
No matter how Ovakain exhausted the last trace of his mana, the last ounce of his strength, the final shred of his will; no matter how the elemental torrents surged and reverberated across the volcano; no matter how burst after burst of mana tore through space and disrupted the elements—the enraged black dragon remained firmly imprisoned within that dazzling violet magic array, unable to move an inch. His razor-sharp teeth were merely a millimeter away from the Fire Element Crystal Orb about to vanish into the “Anywhere Door,” yet this trivial millimeter was one Ovakain simply could not cross!
“Master-Level Enchantment Magic—Peter Pan’s High-Pressure Kinetic Imprisonment Array!”
Beside the black dragon, kinetic energy compressed into solid form acted as the most unyielding shackles, firmly restraining Ovakain. Countless intricate violet runes now covered every single one of his dragon scales.
And right before Ovakain, Punk was ceaselessly channeling vast amounts of mana into the array, while ethereal, song-like incantations flowed incessantly from his lips.
The language of magic—the Ancient Elven Tongue!
To imprison Ovakain, Punk did not hesitate to pour the majority of his mana all at once into the magic array. To ensure the array’s indestructibility, he even resorted to using the immensely mana-draining Ancient Elven Tongue to amplify the spell’s effect.
Finally, through his efforts, Ovakain was successfully trapped within this lethal snare.
While continuously supplying mana to the array, Punk gazed coldly at Ovakain’s bloodshot draconic eyes, a faint, sinister smirk curling on his lips. At this point, his plan had essentially reached completion.
From the very beginning, Punk had been avoiding a long-range confrontation with Ovakain. After all, as a level nineteen dragon spellcaster, Ovakain surpassed Punk in both mobility and ranged attack capabilities. In a direct spellcasting duel, even if the black dragon was injured, Punk lacked sufficient confidence to secure victory. Thus, the core of his strategy was to force the black dragon to close in on him—or rather… to approach the pre-laid lethal trap by his side. The situation was progressing smoothly, with everything aligning closely with Punk’s plan. After the first Dragon Breath failed and faced with Punk’s resolute detonation of the volcano, Ovakain was left with no choice but to risk approaching the Fire Element Crystal Orb using “Blink.” Thus, even though he clearly knew a terrifying trap awaited him, Ovakain had no option but to gamble desperately.
However… unfortunately, Ovakain failed.
On the scorching red-hot ground of the volcano, beneath the shadow of gloomy elemental clouds, and confronted with Punk’s nearly all-out support of “Peter Pan’s High-Pressure Kinetic Imprisonment Array,” Ovakain could only watch helplessly as the Fire Element Crystal Orb—which he could have shattered with a single bite—gradually slipped into the “Anywhere Door” connected to the Lava Conduit.
“Ovakain, you’ve lost”!
Punk’s icy voice drifted faintly into the black dragon’s ears.
