Chapter 415 – The Arrival
Chapter 415 – The Arrival
“Huh? Punk, why are you descending too?”
When a small town appeared on the ground, Kane and Punk, who had just finished arguing, almost simultaneously chose to descend rapidly. It was undeniably awkward for both parties to share the same destination right after exchanging harsh words and preparing to part ways. Only someone as “carefree” as Kane could speak so nonchalantly about such an awkward situation.
Though he sounded casual, a hint of vigilance was evident in Kane’s tone. It seemed his wariness toward Punk had heightened significantly. If nothing unexpected occurred, this town must hold crucial clues that Kane needed.
Coincidentally, the town also contained vital clues Punk was seeking. Along Ovakain’s escape route, Punk’s Divination Spell detected that some “major events” filled with slaughter and coincidence had occurred in this town. These events were undoubtedly linked to the now-missing Ovakain, making it impossible for Punk to overlook such important leads.
Of course, Punk had no intention of revealing his purpose to Kane. When the tactless knight voiced his skepticism, Punk responded with an utterly bland and perfunctory reply:
“Just bored and coming down to look around. Got a problem with that?”
“……..”
Well, Kane was clearly taken aback by Punk’s dismissiveness. However, the knight—always capable of donning different masks—soon regained his usual “sunny smile.”
Accelerating his descent from high altitude, Kane deliberately remarked with feigned nonchalance:
“Of course no problem. Anyone could understand wanting to find some entertainment. The scenery in this vast desert is just too~ boring. Hope this town offers more amusement. Honestly, I’m really looking forward to meeting those wild, charismatic beauties of the desert. I bet they’re far more interesting than those delicate Noble ladies.”
Without waiting for Punk’s reaction, Kane retracted his Aura Wings and other Battle Aura protections. Then, he began free-falling from high altitude, striking a flamboyant pose as if enjoying the breeze and embracing the earth. Perhaps Kane truly was a guy with twisted tastes—he even threw Punk a provocative look: “Bet you can’t do this!””
Do this my ass!
As a pure spellcaster through and through, Punk lacked the insane physical resilience of combat classes. Falling from such height without any protection would at least leave him with minor injuries.
Punk clearly had no interest in pointlessly competing with Kane over such matters. So, even though Kane’s provocation was blatant and irritating, Punk completely ignored him and began preparing his Anywhere Door spell.
It had to be admitted that professionals—especially those who were powerful yet aligned with chaos—would always remain an exceedingly willful bunch. In a remote town so insignificant that not even an Apprentice Rank professional could be found, unrestrained powerhouses never bothered with discretion. After all, they weren’t magical girls hiding in the shadows—a grand, flamboyant entrance never needed to fear prying eyes. Though such displays often brought immense panic and chaos to innocent townsfolk, neither Kane nor Punk would care about the feelings of mere ants.
Driven by such arrogance and a desire to show off, from the town’s perspective, Kane’s descent in his glittering golden armor was nothing short of earth-shattering.
On a clear, sunny day, a terrifying whine—like that of an object plummeting at high speed through the air—suddenly pierced the sky. Kane, gleaming like a golden meteor under the sunlight, plummeted directly into the very heart of the town.
“BOOM!!”
With a deafening roar that left the entire town’s ears ringing, the radiant Kane crashed into the town’s Plaza. Layers of bricks shattered and collapsed, and the shockwave, mixed with flying debris, effortlessly demolished nearly every building around the square. The shards of stone, flying at bullet-like speeds, claimed the lives of many townsfolk who couldn’t react in time.
“HAHAHAHA, this is so amusing, so much fun! Look at those fools—the utterly shocked and incredulous expressions on their faces as they died, isn’t it hilarious? Truly, only a grand entrance like this, crashing down from above, suits my magnificent style.”
Using his Battle Aura to disperse the dust around him, Kane laughed heartily as he rose from the crater. It seemed this knight, clearly aligned with evil, thoroughly enjoyed the disaster and death he had wrought, even if such chaos was barely a minor disturbance to him.
“Unbelievable. How can a brainless fool like you become a Kingdom Protector? That kingdom’s downfall must be just around the corner.”
Not far from Kane, a fleeting, rainbow-hued Annihilation of light accompanied Punk’s graceful step out of an “Anywhere Door.Though he himself had no inclination to play the low-key game, he had no interest in slaughtering ordinary people for amusement.
Kane was utterly unfazed by Punk’s sarcasm. The knight, determined to be flamboyant from head to toe, even slung his Lance over his shoulder nonchalantly as he retorted:
“Meh… Honestly, I’m no good at governing a kingdom. But we can leave those tedious matters to the Nobles who have nothing better to do. They love ruling over troublesome commoners anyway, so let them play their little games. It’s just some insignificant Kingdom—if it gets ruined, we can always find another place. In the end, becoming a Kingdom Protector only requires three simple steps.”
“Three steps? What are they?””Heheh, this is my exclusive summary, and I’ll be generous enough to share it with you today! Step one: find a relatively remote Kingdom with little involvement from benevolent deities or Legendary forces. Step two: kill the original Master-Level Kingdom Protector of that Kingdom. Step three: eliminate any fools who disagree with me becoming the Kingdom Protector, and just like that, you’ve got yourself a Kingdom! So, isn’t it simple?”
As he spoke, Kane struck a pose while tossing his golden hair. Perhaps for him, striking a pose was an indispensable step no matter what he was doing.
After listening to Kane’s “three-step” strategy, Punk was genuinely speechless. Probably only a character like Kane could come up with such an “efficient” plan for seizing territory. Of course, this also fully explained why, despite being a Kingdom Protector with the resources of an entire Kingdom at his disposal, he was still so poor. For a guy like Kane, Punk could only silently conclude—poverty always has its reasons!
